One of the most beautiful structures along the scenic Amalfi coast. The church is free to tour. After touring get some gelato, sit atop the church steps and take in the square below. It gets busy during high tourist season and later in the day. We didn't take the offered tour, we just used our guide book and did it ourselves.

Climb the stairs up from the square for the cool sanctuary of the Duomo. The museum must not be missed. Get there early to avoid the crowds in summer who arrive in waves by boat.

The Duomo is the big attraction with it's many steps and mosaics. You get a good view of the square from the top and it is cooler. The church is free but we paid for the tour of the crypt area of St. Andrew. (6 euros) and well worth it. The art and artifacts were amazing. We love taking photos and they were allowed without a flash. Check the timing .. the church is closed in off peak hours. It is always open in the early morning. Try to avoid touring when the ships come in... the square is really crowded then. There are free washrooms at the top of the stairs on the left hand side as you face the cathedral.

The Duomo di Sant'Andrea Apostolo was absolutely breath taking. It was a beautiful and historical site and my family and I felt blessed to be able to see this Cathedral.

The whole town of Amalfi is pretty much a fairytale town. Just walking around will put you and whoever you are sith in good spirits. The Duomo does not take anything away from that either it just add to it!! Do not miss

We enjoyed just visiting the church and did not go to the associated museum. There is no charge to visit the church. The steps are many - but worth it once you are inside. There were beautiful mosaics throughout the church. It also has a magnificent ceiling and is quite striking.

I was on the Amalfi Coast for my honeymoon, I visited the delightful Amalfi for more than a day and I always find a wedding in this beautiful cathedral!I can understand why, the enviroment is spectacular and unique!knowing that before...!!

First of all, the highlight is in the basement at the end of the tour. This is where they have displayed the bones of the saint and the decor is amazing, especially the ceilings! If you are handicapped, there is one elevator to the right of the long outdoor staircase. Not sure how you would be able to navigate inside, though. There is a cost to get in, buy your tickets by climbing long outdoor staircase and go to the left to get the tickets. Used to be about 5 euros. Then you tour some really old stone relics in an outdoor garden, then enter the main Santuary and last, go down to the elaborate basement. Going inside can be done in about 30 min if the line is not long, but safer to count on an hour to visit the entire church. Really fun to catch a wedding here, with many brides getting photos on the impressive staircase in front! Afterwards, lots of cute souvenir and gelato shops are nearby. Think about lemonito products for gifts!

Great place to visit, the duomo is architecturally sound making it an amazing place for photographers. And although it is a torist attraction, even during the peaks of summer, it is not that busy. It is definitely worth the entrance fee

In spite of being the major tourist attraction in Amalfi, the 12 century Duomo was comparatively empty when we visited, allowing a quiet, peaceful wander through this very beautiful and historical church. The crypt of St Andrew was especially lovely and spiritual. Well worth the 3 euro each entry fee.

this is very much worth the experience. We found a lovely priest inside who could speak English and explained a lot to us about this 12th century church. This church houses the skull and bones of Jesus's apostle Andrew. There is a very good explanation guide in English which is given to you on entry. Well worth the small entry cost . Opens from 10am to 12 for tours and other times for prayer only and there are over 400 weddings there every year

This is a lovely space to spend an hour or two in - visit the Chiostro del Paradiso (I thiink it is) on the inside, check out the moorish influences. Then the Duomo, St. Andrew's crypt (try to catch a gathering-of-the-manna ceremony!), and the Cathedral. The front is of course also quite picturesque, and the Piazza Duomo has everything you'd expect on the Amalfi Coast.

This was our second time visiting Amalfi and the Duomo. Historically and artistically, it is well worth the steep climb.

Basking in a history from Roman /Greek days Amalfi itself is a well deserved exploration. The Cathedral or Duomo with its ninth century belltower which also acted as a watchtower boggles the imagination. The first glance at the verticality of its steps to the almost blinding glory of the centerpiece mosaic fills you with awe and an immediate reflex to take out your camera and try to capture what you are looking at.It is the entirety of the scene that captivates from the Torre del Zirro above (sight of The Tragedy of the Duchess of Malfi) to the bel tower, the facade the steps, the elegance of the stone facade.Once inside The Cloister of Paradise, the Museum, the main church and the magnificent crypt of Saint Andrew are further icing on the cake.YES! The remains of St. Andrew brought back by the Crusaders in the 11th century are housed here and honored by a Vatican representative every year.ABSOLUTELY worth visiting regardless of religious background for its architecural, historical, cultural and spiritual remembrance.
