The coldest March ever on the Amalfi Coast did not budge the beauty of Villa Cimbrone. Although most of the greenery was still hybernating, the Roman ambience is evident and its uniqueness is undeniable. An absolute must for any visitor to Ravello.
This is a beautiful villa with surrounding gardens obviously done by a very passionate man. There are many steps to navigate, but they are easy steps, not steep. It takes about 20 minutes from Ravello, but well worth the hike. Magnificent views from the terraces, my favourite is the "Infinity Terrace" with marble busts on plinths overlooking the sea. This is my second visit and I have still not seen all the gardens. The most amazing views of Amalfi and Positano to the right as well as Maiori and Minori to the South. Spectacular and well worth a visit.Beware there are quite a few steep steps in and around the gardens. .
Amazing views from the terrace garden, with a lot of sculpture, some of it very good. ( a bronze of Donatella's David, and various copies of pieces from Pompeii )
Villa chimbrone is located about 1.5 km away from Ravello center . the walk is beautiful but then you come to these gardens with those amazing view -It is hard to imagine these magnificent gardens and views . from there The Amalfi coast is seen with its natural glory! It is highly recomended!
Enjoyed the gardens and sculpture, the fabulous views, and the walk to get there. Could only dream about a stay at the hotel!
We spent a little over an hour at the gardens. It is quite large and we enjoyed following the map provided looking at the various sites, views, gardens and statues. In February, we only saw two other people there - so it was nice to have the place pretty much to ourselves. Fun place for photographers. Don't miss the crypt shortly after the entrance with all of the arches and columns.
I don't know how I missed reviewing this on trip advisor.... but you must visit! This place is very special because my husband had proposed to me at the 'Terrace of Infinity'. Typically its a bit more crowded with visitors but he caught it on a quiet moment right after it rained. It was magnificent. But aside from that special moment, the grounds are gorgeous. there are different small gardens you can visit (ie: rose garden) and I saw a bride later on as well taking photos in one of the garden areas and it looked gorgeous.I would say a thousand times yes to visit...and to his proposal!
The Villa Cimbrone gardens are delightful. You must wander out past the villa through the gardens taking in the beauty until you reach the terrace and the magnificent views of the Amalfi coastline will blow you away. The photo opportunities are endless.A must do when staying on the Amalfi coast and when in the beautiful Ravello.
We took the bus to Scala, and then walked to Ravello. Passing through Ravello, we found ourselves in the Villa Cimbrone Gardens. The Villa grounds are quite extensive, and well worth the admission price. The cloister is beautiful. The Crypt, while it has lovely views, was piled high with chairs and tables stored there for banquets, which detracted a bit from the ambience. Around the gardens, there is beauty at every turn. Outstanding views are to be found all about the gardens.
My wife and I stayed in Ravello for a week in late September 2014 and had to visit these gardens twice as it was so beautiful. I think the best time to go must be in the morning just after they have opened and before the coach tours arrive, so that you can experience the stunning views from the Terrace of Infinity all by yourself! I've included some photos here, but it they don't really do it justice. It's a place you must visit if you're ever in the area, but make sure to leave enough time for wandering around at a slow pace - it can't be rushed!
An awesome way to while away an afternoon. Great views and trails so you feel alone even if its busy!
The most beautiful gardens and vistas! It is so peaceful and quiet, it's like walking back through time. I highly recommend not missing this gem.
While in Ravello, Villa Cimbrone is a must. The gardens are well maintained and walking around turns into a magical experience, everywhere you turn there is a perfect scene to take a pic. On your way to the gardens you'll pass by the Santa Chiara Monastery where they sell the best Crema de Limone
I went to Villa Cimbrone after first visiting Villa Rufalo and Ravello's cathedral. The views and gardens in Villa Cimbrone were, by far, the best of Ravello. The fact that the villa is right on the edge of a plateau meant it felt more connected to the Amalfi coast, with the air, mountain and sea all coming together. The view from terrace of infinity is unforgettable. The walk to Villa Cimbrone is a little outside of the town, and the walk back down to Amalfi from Villa Cimbrone is A LOT of stairs - only do it (the walk from Villa Cimbrone to Atrani/Amalfi) if you're ready for some serious steps and some views that are not as beautiful as the ones above at the villa.
