Lovely boat trip from Sirmione, lovely island and short guided was interesting, but don't really think it was worth €32 each, especially when you saw very little of the inside of the house. We were advised by the guide to use the 'portaloos' before starting the tour. Disgusting, smelly and a disgrace. Don't bother with the tour - just take the boat trip!

If you want to let go of everything and fall in love with italy come to isola del garda! The tour on the boat to getto the island offers so many amazing views already! On the island you get amazing tour guides who show you around the island. They also tell you the amazing story about this magic place! On the balcony you can enjoy the view, wine, best olives ever and some snacks for free. Moreover i loved the 3 really cute dogs which live on the island. Always a visit worth it and i defenitely want to marry there! :)

We took a boat trip from the Hotel Continental. The boat trip over was relaxing and the trip back faster and quite exhilarating. The tour of the garden was interesting and the guide was knowledgeable. A cool glass of wine on the terrace was welcome. It is a beautiful house from the outside but the limited internal tour was disappointing. This being said, it is a lovely trip worth taking.

This beautiful and romantic place is a must on any visit to lake Garda, we enjoyed the company of the owner who's love and ongoing care makes this not only a family home first but a great attraction. Don't miss it.

We have looked across to the Isola del Garda from our apartment balcony high above Gardone Riviera for the past two years. It is visually stunning and, on approach from the water and the closer one gets, the beauty becomes even more apparent. We have excellent, well-informed guides who take us through the grounds to the lovely English Garden and the more formal Italian Garden. Eventually, we reach (with anticipation) the house itself. We are guided through just two rooms and invited to view a very small and insignificant bedroom and an even smaller area called (I think) the Eastern Room. We were then given a glass of rose wine on the terrace which was very pleasant. We were also invited to try the family olive oil which was for sale at a high price. We then walked around the second island before re-joining the boatsIt was all very nice, so why the hesitation to give five stars? It was a two hour visit plus the boat trip. Two boats arrived at the same time and it was chaotic. The second island was without merit. The visit could have taken half the time. We saw nothing of the house. The cost was 25 euros. As I said, visually stunning - but we hardly needed to go ashore for that.

If there is 1 trip you must do whilst staying at Lake Garda this is it.I can truly say this is 1 of the most beautiful house and gardens I have ever visited and is absolutely stunning in every sense of the word, from the house sitting majestically on its elevated position, the terraced gardens with their vista's across the lake and even the wooded areas with their raw and natural beauty. The island oozes history with one of the workers dwellings dating back to the 14th C and the island previously being occupied by the monks of St Francis of Assisi. It is members of the Cavazza family who actually show you around, our guide was Livia, and their childhood memories help bring the place alive - and that is perhaps one of the most pleasant discoveries of the island in that the Cavazza family come across as being such extremely nice people.....

Isola del Garda is a gem in the lake and absolutely worth a visit if you're staying on the lake shores for a few days. It has a fascinating location, rich history, beautiful views, a lush vegetation, and at the same time it offers a familiar, comfortable approach, in spite of its impressive, century-old lineage. If you are lucky enough you will be guided there by the owner of the isle, Alberta, who is just as unique as the Isola! Thanks to her we had an unforgettable time in the island when we visited with our children. She really made us feel special! Thanks to Alberta and her team for their relentless work in this treasured place.

Visiting Isola del Garda was a short boat trip from the quay at Gardone and cost 25 euro per person. The Island is privately owned and has a wealth of history. Our guide on the Island was one of the daughters of the present owners and it was wonderful to hear the history of how the family acquired the Island as well as its previous ownership. The main home is magnificent as are the gardens and views from the Island. Well worth visiting and wine and nibbles were served on a terrace towards the end of the tour.

Unparalleled views of an amazing place. But the most important aspect is the informative and clear in formation from the guide. The fact that she is a family member adds a lot. always patient and ready to answer questions that she must have been sked so many times before! We have now visited 4 times and learn something new each time.

we attended a wedding on the island and had a fantastic day!The ceremony was held in the Loggia and we were treated to a glimpse indoors and a guided tour of the gardens by a very knowledgable guide.Fantastic views!

We took a boat from Sirmione to the Isola del Garda, a beautiful listed villa built on the site of a Franciscan monastery. The villa was remodelled by the Cavazza family, and it and the island are home to the the the English widow (Lady Charlotte Cavazza) and the 7 children of the late Count. The villa is a listed site, and is built upon multiple terraces, surrounded by terraced gardens in a combination of old Italian and English styles. Lady Charlotte is apparently still responsible for all of the roses. We were shown around by Alberta, one of the daughters. The Venetian tower has been restored beautifully, and the rest is progressing well but, of necessity, slowly. A few of the principal rooms are open to visitors. Of special note is the beautifully dining room with furniture and silver dating back t th 17th century. At the end of the tour, visitors are served cheese, and salami, and a glass of wine.Give yourself a treat and visit.

A visit to this private island was arranged through our Great Rail Journey holiday and proved to be a highlight of our tour. We were not so lucky with the weather on our visit, but this paled into insignificance for we were treated to a highly professional escorted tour by a guide who was charming and extremely knowledgeable on the family's private ownership. She delivered her appraisal with tremendous sensitivity and with a wonderful sense of humour. To have such an enlightening insight into this beautiful little island will remain a very special memory of a truly magical place on Lake Garda.

We sailed around this Island which looked beautiful. It is on our list for a visit next time we are staying on lake Garda.

This a gem of beautiful gardens and a magnificent house. There are photos and a review on my blog.'vincentsplantplace.net' which also reviews 3 other gardens in the area, including Hruska in nearby Gardone. It was one of most memorable days of the holiday and a great experience. However, it is expensive and needs a bit of planning to get there.
