this is by far the best mountain lake in abruzzo and its not even close,a great place to relax and enjoy nature in all seasons of the year...

This is a lovely place just off the road to Barrea, you drive over a narrow bridge to reach the lakeside. I don't think you would swim at this area, looks too muddy on the shore for me but it's beautiful to look at and a definite stop off point when driving up to Barrea itself which gives wonderful views down to the lake. Barrea itself is lovely and the old earthquake damage to the central buildings is almost all restored.

What a great Lido on Lago di Barrea. La Gravara is the Bar Lido on the lake and has everything you could want for a great day relaxing on the water! They rent paddleboats, horses to ride, comfortable beds to sunbathe on,umbrellas and a great cafe for food and drink. They have pizza, full pasta meals and small snacks.. Ice cream, drinks, wine and candy are also available for whatever you could want during the day.. Such a beautiful location and the owners couldn't be nicer! They are always polite, and helpful in everyway....Lago di Barrea is a beautiful lake with mountains and trees all around the lake. It is in the National Park of Abbruzzo, great place for outdoor lovers!

Not only the lake but certainly also Barrea itself is well worth your visit. Be amazed about the beauty of the village, and don't forget to visit the borgo. It'll only cost you 1 Euro.

Camping in "La Genziana" was a pleasure - above the lake and only 500km from the pretty town of Barrea, the owner Pasetta is a legend and a great host. The old town itself had a castle and wonderful winding streets and awesome viewpoints. There are wonderful walks in the area and swimming in the lake was a joy as was just sitting in the campsite and soaking in the beauty of the area. We went for 4 days and stayed a week.............. looking forward to returning next year.

Camping right on the lake was wonderful, peaceful and refreshing...a great way to relax and regroup. Fire pits, toilets and showers....wish it had a mini mart, but town is close....just keep driving down the bumpy, dirt road nd you'll be in heaven!!Owner does not speak English...

I just loved the countryside and the little villages around the lake.

Beautiful views, villages and people, so friendly and so much to explore. The information centre extremely helpful, with maps and local walks too..

Sono stata a visitare il lago in inverno, c'era la neve intorno a tutto il lago, bellissimo.....uno scenario da favole e incredibile...

La vista del lago immerso nelle montagne innevate,lo rende favoloso.Un posto davvero bello e suggestivo.Consiglio a chi di passaggio,di fermarsi obbligatoriamente.

bello e affascinante in inverno il letto del fiume viene in parte prosciugato e in parte con la neve resta ghiacciato creando un'atmosfera davvero suggestiva. In estate invece viene adibito in parte come "lido turistico" con la possibilità di noleggiare sedie a sdraio, canoe e pedalò per permettere a chi vuole di potersi fare il bagno...

Siamo stati a visitare questo lago artificiale (fatto nel dopoguerra) e ci è piaciuto molto. Innanzitutto abbiamo visto principalmente la parte che si trova sotto Barrea, anche se poi percorrendo la strada che collega Villetta a Barrea si costeggia completamente il lago e in molti punti se ne può ammirare la bellezza. A Barrea, all'inizio del paese la strada passa sopra il fiume che confluisce nel lago e ne butta dentro l'acqua in maniera controllata da una diga. Molto bello è il panorama che si può godere sia dal paese che da alcuni punti intorno al lago. Inoltre il posto è veramente silenzioso.Bellissima la veduta sulle montagne. Consigliatissima la visita.

Sono stata in questo piccolo paesino in estate, è stata davvero una piacevole scoperta. E' un luogo silenzioso, quasi un eden in cui apprezzare il silenzio e la natura.

Bel lago, sono stata colpita da quanto si fosse abbassato il livello, l'acqua era limpida sarà rilassante farsi un giro con il pedalò perche c'era una pace ....

Barrea:Luogo silenzioso,curato e bellissimo,e con il suo lago e con la sua natura,la città è davvero incantevole.
