I viewed only the paintings in this museum, which took a couple of hours to look through. I rented the audio guide for €3, which proved handy, but only a small portion of the paintings have any commentary on them. The audio guide discusses the painter's lives, techniques, and the stories of some of the paintings, which was very interesting. No photos are allowed inside the museum, not even without flash. The museum staff are plentiful, and watch you like a hawk. I'd say to be careful not to get too close to any of the partitions separating you from the artwork, or to even take out your phone to look at the time, unless you want one of them following you around.
Large collection of unique porcelain and beutiful paintings that you should not miss and the estete is a gem itself.
The Zwinger castle in Dressden is one of the most beautiful european castle and is mandatory to see, if you are visiting Germany. The historical city center attract the lot of tourists from the whole world. In sunny weather is the view beautiful and the walk over the great barnyard is connected with lot of photos taken with your camera. It is really great to visit and dring cafee near this beautiful and popular place.
Hard to believe how amazing Dresden's art, science, clock, pottery and jewelry collections are .... these are a wonderful series of museums in beautiful palace settings. Highly organized and enjoyable - you can take breaks in between and hang out in courtyards and people-watch.
Zwinger is the main attraction in Dresden. The atmosphere during summer was incredible. It has a beauty park during summer, where all the fountains are working and the flowers begin to bloom. Its park also had an amazing view of surrounds old-architecture building. You might also enter the building and enjoyed the beauty panorama of the park on top of the building. Don't forget to take a photo in front of the biggest fountains in the central of the park. Its a must!
As all the places in Dresden: WONDERFUL! The same for the people of Dresden. Love the City and hope to find a place nearby to retire.
Amazing collection of Old Masters in a beautiful setting. Not to be missed for anyone who loves art.
90 % of this beautifull city was destroyed in world war 2 but thay built it as good as it was on 50 years ago. It worth it to see this beautiful city.
after visiting similar places in europe (Versailles, Buckingham) I must say this one is still unique. It gives you the feeling that you have to discover this place on your own. There is not too much "tourist business2 around the Zwinger. But nice cafes and restaurants.watch out: dont go on a monday - most things are closed.
My wife and I spent two weeks in Germany, our favorite country. Most of our time is always in Bavaria, taking day trips from Munich, and of course trips to Austria.I have a cousin that lives in Schwedt, Germany and I asked him to guide us in the Czech Republic as his Christmas present to us. Took a day trip in my rent car and saw plenty! The next day was planned for Dresden, the town my cousin was raised in. We were fortunate to find a decent parking spot across from the Zwinger. The view is amazing. What an architectural marvel. While we never went into the museum, just walking around the vast structure was awe inspiring.Dresden, for us was a sleeper. We never had a clue it was such a wonderful city with so much history! We always stay in Southern Germany. What we have missed!
