How come I missed writing a review about this winery - as I am buying particularly "my" white wine there since almost two decades now? Probably it turned into kind of habit where it turns out to be "normal" ... Well - it is not, actually it is pretty special. The wine: The classical grape in the area is the "Riesling" (white), but you will find "Müller-Thurgau" (white) and "Spätburgunder" (red), "Dry-Secco" (sparkling wine), "Glühwein", "Federweisser" (only last quarter) of a year and some spirits in this wineries offering. It is not the wide range that makes this winery so special only. It is the quality of it´s wines. Ever had a headache from wine? The wines here you won´t get one from. Don´t know how they do it, but one can drink as much as one can from one kind, or try the wines across the offering - no headache the next morning. Cool. The "Dreigiebelhaus": Family owned building since it was built more than 350 years ago, very beautiful, ancient and traditional building (yes, quite impressive - still owned by the same family). Cosy garden and wine cellar, where the tastings take place. If you want to buy wine, "walk-in tasting" is on offer. Run as "Strausswirtschaft" (wine tavern), not only the self-produced wine is available, but some small selection of cold plates, home baked bread and "Zwiebelkuchen" (Onion Cake) as well. The Family: Very friendly, english speaking, ( ... surprise, surprise ...) knowledgeable about the area and helpful. Be it about the area´s roman roots or recommendations about how to explore it best, you can get great advice. This vintner really knows what he is doing, grows the grapes in a very traditional style, isn´t into blends and proud of his product. Taste it and I am certain you will understand why he CAN be proud of it ...Bed & Breakfast: There is some rooms and apartments for rent in their guest house, can recommend this as well.
We had taken a boat on the Mosel and stopped in Krov to look around. Found the Weingut Dreigieblehaus and had a lovely lunch in the garden. The owner speaks English and we had several glasses of Krover Reisling and some cheese and meet. Exactly perfect for exploring the Mosel.
schöner Keller, rustikal eingerichtet, leider nur kalte Speisen. Was m.E.
