We stayed at the Landel Park resort in Eifel Tor nearby Heimbach. The Eifle Park has everything nature has to offer even during the Winter months. Quiet, beautiful surrounding with friendly locals. A great location for nature lovers!
Pretty area. Lots to see if you have a car. The local people are polite and friendly. The food and beer good.Visited the usual places i.e. Aachen, Monschau, Schleiden, Bad Munstereifel. etc etc.We used the train to get to Bonn. We walked along the Rhine there and said hello to the Beethoven House. We had the experiences of the sun setting behind the Vogelsang tower on Midsummer`s day. Not quite as appealing as Stonehenge perhaps. We were at Aachen during the pilgrimage. This happens only once in seven years. Blocked access somewhat but added to the experience. We managed to be at Monschau when a film crew were there filming for a forthcoming feature film/movie.We also had the experience of being flashed by a speed camera (my first in 50 years of driving?). I received the notification when I had returned home. A fine of 25 euro. But how to pay? Documents all in German language, no English.I phoned the relevant person in Aachen who spoke no English. I decided to pay via electronic transfer. My bank charged 10 pounds for the transfer.I had no receipt for this from the German public office nor the German bankI emailed a contact in the tourist office at Aachen but received no reply. Then later I had a charge for 30 euro on my credit card which I found out was some admin fee or other that the car hire company imposed for telling the Aachen public office my home address details. So as the title of my review states, Germany won on penalties! The area is a lovely place to visit, but if you are driving, take care!
It was a great experience & we will surely return! Great for hiking & lots of activities for children going on too.
Gemund is at the centre of this beautiful green nature area .When it,s hot excellent bathing and swimming in the rivers and lake, when cooler great walking.
Hire a bike and take the adventure through the Eifel National Park and explore Vogelsang, the area is rich with history.
Just back from a two day trek on the "Wilderness-Trail" (2 out of 4 stages) in the Eifel National Park. If you like wilderness, forests and the quietness of the nature this could be a nice spot for (at least) a 2 - 4 day trip. We did stages 2 and 3 from Einruhr over Gemünd to Heimbach. Apparently stage 4 is a bit "boring". But we did not do that stage and can really recommend stages 2 and 3. They are wonderful but not always easy walks of 20 and 22 km. More information can be found on the internet site: http://www.nationalpark-eifel.de/go/eifel/english/Under_your_own_steam/Wilderness_Trail.html
Hier muss man einfach hin!!!!!!!!!!!
