Monks are extraordinary people, and accommodation is excellent. I was not expecting so much cleaning and even modern conditions, but we really met. The food prepared by monks was very tasty. In the hermitage church is the miracle working icon "Prodromita", which was painted by divine hand. In one day I was on a pilgrimage to the hermitage minibus Kareia, Iviru, Karakalu and Filoteu. Be sure if you rent a car to visit Mount Athos near Kabala, fantastic view and experience. You will have a chance to see how the monks live and pray on the top of the mountain near the sky...make sure you booked your accomodation in advance since there are lot of turist visiting this place of heaven. Also during summer visits please make sure to adjust your dressing code since is not allowed to visit in swimsuits or short pants as a respect for this community and its holly mountain.

One of the main interest of the Halkidiki area is the Mount Athos, the third leg of the peninsula. The Holy mountain is not accessible to most of the people so when you are around make sure that you book your seat for a day cruise around. First you have to drive to Ouranoupolis where you have a choice of a couple of ferries for the trip. On the ferry you will be told all the history of the monasteries( unfortunately in many languages, a bit annoying) and you will enjoy the beautiful view of the monasteries on the mountain. Of course if you are a man is would be best to walk around the area and stay over but you will need a visa and time for preparation from well before.

Трудное восхождение стоит усилий, лучше посетить пешком два монастыря чем галопом объехать всю гору. конечно хочется увидеть все, лучше все-таки помолиться сутки в монастыре, почувствовать тишину, исихию Афона.

Μεγάλη έκπληξη προκαλεί η φυσική ομορφιά του τοπίου. Πολύ φιλόξενο περιβάλλον , παρθένα δάση , ανεπανάληπτη αρχιτεκτονική και αμύθητου κάλλους και αξίας θρησκευτικοί θησαυροί !

En épocas que todos buscamos un poco de tranquilidad y paz interior, el lugar indicado es AGION OROS, o monte Athos. Ubicado en la última peninsula de la región de Halkidiki, es un lugar sagrado con 20 monasterios y varias "skites", lugares má pequeños de concentración de monjes. Un lugar donde prevalece la oración interior de corazón, la vida austera de los monjes de la iglesia Ortodoxa. Seguir aunque sea por unos pocos días la vida monástica, con los variados oficios que se ofrecen en todos los conventos diariamente. Visitar el Athos es un "must" para personas que buscan algo diferente en su vida, lleno de luz espiritual y vida ejemplar de personas que se ofrecen a cuerpo y alma a Dios. No es casual que sea uno de los lugares de visita espiritual más solicitados del planeta. Personas de todo el mundo visitan AGION OROS(santa montaña) como se llama en griego. Hay que comunicarse primero con la sede administrativa en Uranupolis, para reservar día y hacer los trámites pertinentes, ya que para entrar en esta montaña sagrada se requiere el permiso especial. Pueden entrar solamente varones, por una cuestión de tradición milenaria que hay que respetar. Visitando el AGION OROS, uno se va a dar cuenta del porqué de esta tradición. Vale la pena ir a Athos también por sus innumerables y valiosos tesoros del arte de la econografía, arquitectura y reliquias de santos y mártires. La conexión entre Uranúlopis y Agios Oros es con el barco que une al "mundo" con esta península espiritual. Es recomendable caminar entre los monasterios durante el día, la naturaleza te invita a hacerlo y disfrutarlo a pleno. Frecuentar las misas es una experiencia única. Hay que tener en cuenta que visitar Agios Oros durante periodos de grandes fiestas (Pascuas,Navidad, 15 de agosto y otras) implica mucha gente y dificultad para encontrar alojamiento. Agion Oros es único y trasmite lo que todo el mundo busca hoy: profunda y sana espiritualidad.

Waarom zeg ik gemiddeld. Je zit op een boot die niet verder dan 500 meter uit de kust van de berg Athos mag varen. Laat staan dat je aan land mag. Men had het over dolfijnen die wel eens te zien zijn, niets gezien. Helaas. De boottocht duurde echt wel een paar uur. Maar wat is dan de reden. Wel het verhaal erachter. Op dit eiland staan een heleboel kloosters.Zo een 20 stuks. In die kloosters wonen alleen monniken. Er mogen met speciale toestemming alleen mannen het eiland betreden. Ze moeten dan wel 18 jaar of ouder zijn een visum hebben. Ook de dieren zijn allemaal mannetjes.Voor de kippen wordt een uitzondering gemaakt. Kippen leggen eieren en de monniken hebben het eigeel nodig voor de iconen, die zij schilderen. Ook zijn er kleine dorpjes bewoond door de monniken. Dat is de reden dat het zo bijzonder is. Op de boot heb ik 2 dvd's gekocht en een boekje over Athos.. Daarop kun je zien hoe de kloosters eruitzien.en er zijn ook de monniken te zien. Op het eiland is 1 hoge berg waarop en rondom de monniken leven. Die berg is zeker 2000 meter hoog en men noemt deze berg de Heilige berg Athos.

Posto difficilissimo da visitare, concesso esclusivamente agli uomini, quasi impossibile per gli stranieri e sopratutto per chi non si professa ortodosso. I visti che non verranno mai rilasciati per motivi "turistici" perché qui si entra solo per motivi religiosi. Se riuscirete a visitarlo e se lo farete col giusto spirito sarà come aver avuto la possibilità di viaggiare indietro nel tempo. Un'esperienza che ricorderò per tutta la vita.

Un'avventura culturale in un territorio di"monasteri" collocati un un paesaggio naturale e sociale surreale. Qui tempo, spazio e vita assumono altra dimensione!!

Каждая поездка проходит необычно. Главное не посмотреть, а помолиться и оторваться от суеты. Главная ошибка- успеть везде побывать. Лучше пожить в одном или двух монастырях, поисповедоваться, походить на ночные службы, остальное второстепенно.
