Hiking, enjoying the nature, even an Android app. Raw, unsophisticated mountains. In any case hilghly recomended.

A place for people that do like fresh air, the wild nature, mountains and great views.A place there one can rest in peace.

One of the really best National Parks across the globe. vulture and natur go together here very well, a very good place for walking, hiking, biking, climbing and gasping. Make sure you got your hiking and 'wander' shoes with you.Waterfalls everywhere... Flowers to enjoy... Great variety when we go to various valleys in the norther Salzburgian side of the East-Tyrolian side or take Carinthia... You can't lose, wherever you go.

not very special - i have seen more interesting places.Perhaps we did not have enough time - so do not go there on the way through. It was good weather, but it did not impress me.

We were there for fibe days in the august. Weather was nice, so we enjoyed the hike. The views were amazing! All the mountaons around you. There is a lot of different tracks for different people. We accidentally chose nlack track, which is not for beginners like us, but we made it. Getting here is easy by train from wien or innsbruck. But there is no connection from/to Zell am See, so we changed our plans. Our hike was from lienz to lienzer hütte, adolf nossberger hütte, heiligenblut, glockner hauß.

On my way from Lienz to Zell am See I visited Nationalpark Hohe Tauern by taking the Grossglockner Road. It is one of the most wonderful places I have ever been! The road is very safe and have amazing views, you just cant stop taking pictures!

Very nice and calm area perfect for trekking or mountain biking. No big cities and big attractions besides nature.

Wide variety of walks. The most stunning area we have walked in Austria. Excellent mountain huts, would love to go hutting next time. Excellent paths and car park facilities. A must for British walkers. We didn't see any in our weeks stay in July. The alpine flowers were wonderful.

The national park, covering a huge area in the middle of Austria, seems to have done a lot to diversify visitors' appreciation of this wonderful region of the high Alps, which forty years ago was in danger of becoming completely overrun by ski resorts (you don't see the degradation of the slopes under the snow, but they are a mess in the summer months). It is great to have some areas of the park off limits during the hibernation/breeding seasons so that wildlife can thrive, and to have the alpine pastures cared for in the traditional way in other areas. The alpine flora is wonderful in spring/summer, and if you are lucky you can watch eagles, marmots and even chamois as you hike the excellent network of trails. There are even a few glaciers still clinging on - admire them while you can! There are routes for all ages and abilities, and in summer various cable cars and funicular railways, plus the drive across the Grossglocknerstrasse, allow even non-walkers to experience the high-altitude vistas. (Find out about various special all-in tickets covering attractions and transport such as the Karnten Card - they are seriously good value, and some hotels even include them for free.) The Park authority provides various educational/interpretative leaflets and signage, some extremely good (e.g. at Mallnitz), others verging on the gimmicky (talking logs near Kals!), and its Bios Centre at Mallnitz is well worth a visit on a rest day, with lots of hands-on activities for children. Don't worry about overcrowding: this landscape towers over even the busiest car park, and you can often walk for hours without meeting anybody at all, and enjoy the silence. There is good food and ever-improving accommodation at the network of alpine huts/refuges, so you don't necessarily need to carry all your food and water with you or return to the valley every night. I can't wait for my next trip.

You know those roads James Bond always drives on in Europe? They're in Hohe Tauern. The Grossglockner is not to be missed. Car or motorcycle; try to go when it's not crazy crowded, as you'll enjoy it more. Expect to take a thousand or so photos along the way.

View there is almost perfect. You see snow, rocks and mountains. Just to find a car park is not always easy.
