Beautiful location, long sweep of quiet beach with clear water. Added attraction are the groups of wild donkeys that frequent this part of the Karpaz peninsula.
The road in after Dipkarpaz sets the scene, it is really a lovely unspoilt part of the island, there are the odd bar and beach bungalows as you get to the Golden sands area, but they are quite small and local affairs. The road in is very rural, it is mainly farmland, we spotted our first cluster of Donkeys as we aproached the Golden Sand stretch, they are very much wild and vocal, but will come to you if you stop. On a side note we noticed what looked to be farmers picking plastic bottles from the roadside and bagging them in bin liners ready for collection at a later time, I cant understand why anyone would throw litter in a place so beautiful as this!We could only find two entrances to the beach one at the very start in the south end and one at the northern end, we plumped for the north end, the beach is beautiful, sand dunes and a clear sea, it is a lovely stretch of beach and by far the best in the North we have seen.It took us about 1 1/2 hrs to get here from Esentepe, the road was extremely quiet and the roads are excellent, my only gripe and this seems to be a concurring theme is the litter whether it is washed ashore or just dumped by the people that visit, its the only thing that spoils the place, but is so easily resolved. One possible solution for the worst is a new complex that is being built not far from the north end of the Golden Sand Beach, when this gets finished I am guessing the Golden Sands will be the attraction and draw for this complex, so make the most of its current solitude.
One of the best beaches in the world that is certain! Neither hotels nor restaurants, untouched, except few small wooden bungalows that you can rent. Oh, turtles protected area as well... I had the wish to drink the sea water, it was that pure and clean. Need few hours drive but it is a must go.
This is possibly the most beautiful beach we have ever visited and certainly during September there are very few people there. Simply idyllic! The sky at night is amazing - I've never seen so many stars.
Wonderful clean sand and warm, clear water. Sun beds and umbrellas available at small charge.Food, drinks etc available just behind the beach.
This is one of the best natural beaches I have ever been to and goes on for miles. Unlike some others, I found the beach extremely clean with a clear warm sea and very soft sand. We walked through Burhnam's restaurant, after buying 2cans of drink for 10TL, which I thought could go towards the use of the car park & toilet facilities. The sea was slightly rough on this side of the island compared with Kyrenia.
Lovely clear sea. Wooden walkways lead from parking areas to beach. Imagine it would be great to walk along the beach in the winter months.
This certainly is one of the best beaches on the entire island. Untouched Paradise on Earth. Golden sands and beautiful crystal clear water. All the beaches on the North side of Cyprus are crystal clear waters but this beach is a deserted beach with no Resturant, bars or hotels surrounding it. Not even umbrellas to take shelter under! A dream. Despite a few reviews that mentioned garbage around the beach, this beach is under the protection of the Northern Cyprus sea Turtle foundation.
Its in the middle of nowhere but what a beach, its the best I have seen in Europe. A car is a must oh and watch out for the donkeys and they prefer carrots so stock up
I expected more from the golden beach. the water was not clean the day we arrived and here and there on the beach there was garbage.
If you want to escape to the middle of nowhere in Northern Cyprus - this is the place to go. Fantastic beach with hardly a sole on it - but beware, very little shade. Is served but a couple of hotels - so food, toilets and overnight accommodation is available if need be.But to feel totally isolated, walk along the beach towards the south where there are some rock pools.
Golden beach never disappoints! It was an amazing day with friends. We walked on wooden deck towards sea, else its impossible because of super hot sands. Nothing manmade on sight, powderlike white sands and an endless shore. Everything was beautiful, please dont forget to bring umbrella and clean up your litter. At certain point Golden Beach turns into a nudist beach, the one of its kind in Cyprus. PS: there is no military occupation like some fanatics claims so feel free to enjoy the Northern part of the island with a peace of mind. Especially Karpaz area is a great example how two Cypriot communities coexist in peace despite all the propaganda claims otherwise.
very nice sea!! super views! warm and clean water! wonderful natüre! from negative - not enough places for lunch, cafe near beach is not clean, near isnt food shops.
An exact definition of this place is that "the heaven". Really quiet, natural, unspoilt, nudist friendly and very secure location, where you can find freedom and piece. However, a rumor has it that a five star hotel will be built somewhere around Burhan's Golden Beach -- which really worries locals and nature lovers.
This is the first beach we have gone to in Cyprus that looked how we imagined it would. Large open beach that was lovely to be on for the day.Walking down to the point there was lots of rubbish which seems to be a common factor in North Cyprus - they really have not worked out how lovely their country is and that it needs some TLC. Its strange to watch a family of Turks come down have their swim and food and just leave behind bags of rubbish like "someone" will clean it up for them. Fact is no one does and it blows around the beach.Coach tours do stop at the beach and suddenly their is a hoard of young girls pulling of their Baywatch poses on the beach and in the sea but they soon disappear again leaving the beach peaceful and tranquil again. The wild donkeys are great we had to stop in the middle of the road for one and he strutted across and stuck his head through the car window! (Luckily we had read other reviews and bought some carrots) The kids enjoyed this bit although a donkeys head inches from mine was somewhat strange! On the way home we did spot a big cat - roughly the same size as a cheetah but without any markings and a dark beige in colour. Drove past too quick to get the camera out but certainly a big cat of some sort.
