If you want to see some extensive wine cellar system, this is the place. The 30-min tour walks you through multiple levels of the cellar, some spots 60m below the surface. Wine barrels everywhere. The guides are knowledgeable and friendly. You can either taste wine based upon a pre-set list or pick and choose. The late harvest Furmint is a must if you like sweet wine.
Tokaj is known for its wines but it is out of the way for many travelers. My family is from this region so i've visited several times. Aside from a wide selection of wines produced in the region, Dereszla also always has English speaking hostesses on duty which is not always the case in this part of Hungary.
This winery is the bomb! Start in the vinoteka with an introduction, then visit the 100-dreds of years old wine cellar system of >1km length. Three stories in the mountain belly full of Tokaj treasures. Rows and rows of exclusive Aszu wines. Fantastic experience. Afterwards try the wines in the Vinoteka.
We decided to take a trip up to the Tokaj region and taste some local wines, expand our knowledge etc. Our b&b owner recommended to stop by this cellar. I have to say I was very impressed with the service and friendliness and the quality of their wines. The gentleman who looked after us spoke perfect English and gave a tour around the cellar in English, which made my life easier and more enjoyable for my other half- having an Aussie boyfriend means I normally have to translate everything and it can be very stressful. The history behind the building, the cellar itself and the wines are worth a stop. If you love good wines and looking for a great experience, I would defenetly recommend this place!
We visitied this winery several times. We really like their second wines Dorombor, better price and good quality. Also they have Gere wines from Villany for sale. I have also their Essencia. Sme time ago we had well prepared degustation. Really helpful staff, Hediwga earlier and last time her employee (she helped us with problem with our car, thanks a lot for this:))
