I really enjoyed this visit with a tour.Once inside the building it is very ornate but quite beautiful and grand. Our tour guide was pleasant and knowledgeable. There are a couple of niggles but they do not really detract from the experience. The first was booking which i did fairly easily but then could not so easily print the ticket. I only managed this with help however i now know if you get to the Parliament ticket office early enough they will print this for you. The tour is a bargain for EU citizens. Incidentally I brought my passport but was not asked for it.The second issue was the guards' officious manner. Both at the beginning and end of the tour they were rude and unfriendly. I am sure we all appreciate the importance of the building but I felt there was absolutely no justification for their unpleasantness.
Only guided tours are available, in various languages. They take about 45 minutes. The royal crown can be seen there as well. It is worth it.
Although the outside of the building is beautiful with amazing architecture, I would not go on a tour of the inside. The inside is beautiful but the tour does not provide great information about parliament. If you are only interested in what the inside looks like then the tour is for you. There was a lot of "heres this room and now you can take a picture" with no real information provided. Also if you are planning on going on the tour it is worth booking in advance.
This building is massive, in both size and architecture! Even with a wide angled lens struggled to fit the whole building in when up close and personal. We did not go on a tour of the building, just admired it from the outside, and is a very dominant building when along the waters edge, at Castle Hill or even Gellert Hill!
Must be one of the most beautiful buildings in the world. Now its renovated so its almost white and shiny!
Impressive place! Worth a visit inside; 2000 forints for EU citizens. The Spanish guide was very friendly!
I recently booked a day tour of the Hungarian Parliament and was forced to cancel the shortly thereafter. According to the Viator website I was entitled to cancel within 7 calender days of having ordered the tour. I filled in the appropriate form for a cancellation only to be told that Viator refused to refund my money but would cancel my booking. According to their terms I forfeited the entire cost of the tour but had I purchased their travel insurance I would have been covered. As I live in Sweden and had made the booking on a Swedish website Swedish Consumer Protection laws allow me to cancel all internet purchases within 14 days. Quite honestly this feels like a scam and Viator is apparently a subsidiary of Trip Advisor. This is not a good way to run a business and attract future (unsupecting) travellers.
My wife and I visited the Parliament in March this year. You can actually undertake an organised tour of the Parliament for a small fee. However please book early via the internet as the small number of daily tickets available are sold out quite quickly. I did not mange to get on the organised tour, but there is plenty to see by just wandering around the buildings, which are located right next to the Danube. There is a Metro station right next to the Parliament building
