A small but very informative display on how the very early settlers lived and worked.Well presented with interactive displays. It is situated at the oldest street in Reykjavik
It was quite interesting, but there wasn't really enough there to make it a wow. The main exhibit just wasn't that interesting.
We really enjoyed this museum. Great use of technology to make exhibit interactive. As in all of Iceland great, helpful staff. We learnt slot about the history of Iceland
Built over the archaeological remains of what they believe is the first settlement in Reykjavik, this display is well worth taking time to see.
Was very informative about settlement in Iceland, it was layed out in a very modern and easy way to navigate. Was quite small so didn't take long to go round but well worth a visit.
Great interpretation of life in a Viking Longhouse actually on the site of the excavation. The interactive technology used really brings the place and the story of living there to life. Lockers are provided so you can leave your belongings and walk around unemcumbered. Thoroughly recommend.
This underground museum is simply wonderful. It shows an in situ Viking longhouse, coupled with modern technology. It is informative, well presented & scupulously clean.Well worth a visit.
Discover the history of Iceland and how the first settlers lived. Incredible use of technology really brings the exhibit to life.
We visited this exhibition and found it very different to anything we have previously experienced. Well worth a visit to see a historic ruin from around 1000AD that has been very carefully excavated and you are able to walk around and use the technology to see how the house would have been lived and worked within. Also free on the city pass if you have one, use it here.
Quite interesting, but a bit confusing - dark, hard to see, with explanatory labels, but not always obvious to us. Recommend going, but after you read a bit about the early settlement era.
A really nice multimedia presentation that's integrated with an actual archaeological dig of a 9th century Viking long-house.
Fascinating look into the life of the early settlers on Iceland &show their family /village life was. Excellently presented and ties in with other museums around Reykjavik to give a good over view of the development of this area over the years
Interesting, interactive exhibition contained in one room. Probably best suited to adults, it's worth reading all of the information in order to gain a good understanding of the history of Reykjavik. It was fairly quiet when we arrived and we were able to go around at our own pace. Had about an hour there, which was enough for us. There are lockers available, which are very useful when coming in from the cold - you can leave a few layers there and stroll around comfortably.A "must do" if you're interested in history.
This museum was very interesting and the long house is right there, so close you can touch it. The walls surrounding the house interactively take you through the history of the discovery but more importantly the history of the first settlers, what they found and how they survived. A little geeky but worth it if you like that kind of thing.
