A very well laid out Museum, not just Neanderthals. Starts with the "Big Bang" then walks you through to present day man. Thoroughly enjoyed it!
Lots of useful info, and lots of fun guaranteed. We just loved it! :-)Amazing nature surronding the museum. Great for hiking!
We really liked the idea of walking through history, but most of all we like the caves and statues of Neanderthal people.
Museum is massive concrete Building fitted into hill. Actually is walk through the history. Very interesting. Overall experience is very well. We found during our visit that most of signs and explanations were pretty dark. Also there are interactive screens where I tried to fill certain quiz about history what I found very difficult. Lack of guidance and screens which are hard responding. Generally it is very nice museum and definitely must see attraction even for those who are not interesting in history. There is outside path through the original excavations spots but it was under snow and ice so little bit dangerous. Probably is additional attraction when weather if fine.
Museum with an interesting idea of walking through earth history. Within the museum is a cave in which the site is Neanderthal. It takes about 40min for the museum and 15min for visit cave, but you can spend an hour or two, if you're a lover of history
The tour begins with an interesting film. This is followed by a long walk through the museum. The museum contains many exhibits and shows the history of the world from the Big Bang to the present day. The museum is very interesting for children and adults. This is one of the most interesting museums I've ever seen!
This was my second time visiting this museum and I was positively surprised how it was constructed. First time I went as a kid and it was only the cave and some artifacts around. Today, it's a modern, well thought and organized museum explaining history of the Earth and evolution of man from the beginning till today. Lots of exhibits from the stone age and explanation of evolution from beginning of time. Not much to do in Krapina except from this museum, but it could easily be combined trip with one of the local castles, visiting nature or eating in one of the local family farms and restaurants all around the region. Great for kids!
The museum is amazing, we had audio guidance and it was the cooles trip though human evolution ever. Definetly a must see when you are near. Honestly, I thought it was just anothe museum with few bones and pictures but it is sooo much more.
We visited Krapina Neanderthal Museum as part of the Back-Roads Touring Co “Flavours of Northern Croatia & Slovenia” tour. Unfortunately we only had about 1 ½ hours there and we could easily have spent half a day taking in all the exhibits and history. The initial video clip (projected on a huge wall upon entry) is interesting but a bit long. The rest of the displays and exhibits are very well done and very interesting. Well worth a visit and the entry fee.Avoid entering at the same time as a school group if possible.
Museum walk begins with projection of reconstruction of life Krapina Neanderthals. continues to meet with life DG Kramberger, history of research, the evolution of the human species and presented a series of interactive exhibits that represent only site in Krapina. Together with statues placed outside the building, the Museum was very interesting and informative walk.
Krapina was the site of some of the earliest neanderthal finds in the 19th century. This modern and well organized museum presents the history of the site and its excavation, along with an overview of the neanderthals. At its best it brings to life the pioneering scientists who developed advanced excavation techniques at the site, and the neanderthals themselves, who are portrayed in their humanity. You can also walk to the cave where the fossils were found.
Good to see, especially for the children.Lot of interesting posts, and environment is very beautiful.
Great and educative place for relive a part of humans history. Worth of seeing, especially with children. Maybe some stuff such as autohtonic restaurants or caffe bars would be good to have together with the one that already exist.
We all loved this museum, it was very well made, easy to understand for both locals and foreigners, nicely constructed, informative and most of all, interesting! The only downside is finding the way to it, signs are posted up to a point but when you get into town, you're lost. We also had to ask a local and if we had not, we would probably be driving in circles forever. Other than that, I highly recommend it to everyone! Families with young kids and adults alike!Wonderful place!
Interesting, well presented, thought provoking, excellent. If you are somewhere in the area, take a detour, it's well worth visiting!
