Christiansborg Palace, located on the tiny island of Slotsholmen, contains the Danish Parliament Folketinget, the Supreme Court, and the Ministry of State. Parts of the palace are used by the Royal Family for various functions and events. The Royal Reception Rooms include The Tower Room and The Oval Throne Room where foreign ambassadors to Denmark are received by the Queen. The Throne Room gives access to the balcony where the Danish monarchs are proclaime

Bought the reasonably priced triple ticket for the ruins, palace rooms and stables. Found the ruins a bit sameish and long but the rooms and stables were well worth the visit. Spent nearly four hours here

We liked it's central location - and that there was more than one museum to visit in the location. We spent most of our time in the Jewish museum - spouse an architecture buff and it's design was unique. Worth the visit.

Coming from England I can honestly say that the building and it's rooms are more impressive than Buckingham Palace. Although the royal stable don't match up.

We opted for the self guided tour, which was fine, tho there were times, like always when you wished you had a little more insight into what you were seeing, but, that being said, the self guided tour was very well done (in English and Danish only)The Palace is magnificent, with a very welcoming atmosphere. We only did the Palace, tho you can do much more as other reviews have said. A very enjoyable few hours, tho I'm sure, depending on the people you are with you could spend much longer here.

Lots to see here and although one of the more expensive entry fees - well worth it for the time it takes to go around. You can opt for the ticket which allows you entry to all sections - stables, royal reception rooms, and ruins - all worth a visit.

As you would expect, the state rooms of the Danish royal family are opulent and beautiful and are well worth a visit. You could literally spend hours here taking in the details of each room. Helpfully for us, there were interpretation panels in each room which have explanations in English. Of course the state rooms are not just visually stunning but they are also steeped in history as they are used by the Danish royal family on state occasions. After visiting the state rooms we went on to visit the royal stables which was a nice addition. The horses are beautiful and there is also an exhibition of royal carriages with a short film. All in all, a great day out.

we arrived at the palace hoping to either enter the palace or go up the tower (apparently theres a café & lookout up there)we waited for around 30 minutes at the door for opening time. around 20 minutes later, security came and said "palace is closed for the next week - I just saw you on camera" and then placed a post-it note on the door.if security was doing his job properly, he would have noticed the group (about 20 people) waiting and came straight away to advise us that the palace tower was closed and we would not have wasted our time.all we could do was walk through the palace to the horse stable on the other side.so it's only a nice view from outside.

The visit to the Royal Reception Rooms was a highlight of our trip, I mentioned them in my review of Christianborg. It was an awesome experience to have such access to areas that serve as present day entertaining rooms for the Royal family. There were very few people wandering around which made the experience very personal and enjoyable.

I highly recommend this palace as part of your Copenhagen experience. The tower was a little meh, but it was free, so you really arent losing out by going up in it. The Royal Reception rooms were amazing. I really enjoyed being in the middle of where the Royals still host events, it was an interesting contrast to the history of Rosenborg Palace and I think they compliment each other well as part of your visit. Do not miss the Royal Stables if you appreciate horses and history, I could have hung out with the horses all day. We spent 2-3 hours on site at the palace. The ruins were ok, the least interesting to me, but still decent nonetheless and if you are going to do the Royal Reception rooms and the stables, price wise, you will just get all three anyways.

The Palace is visually beautiful and located very central. It helped me to find my way in Copenhagen many times, by looking up and seeing its tower - I knew I was in the right direction. :) I can only recommend you to go up the tower and have the panoramic view of Copenhagen. It is totally free. You only have to pass a security check (take your belts, jackets off etc). You don't have to climb many stairs, they have lifts, which was very useful for me. Apparently, there are lifts for people in wheelchair too, which is great! The tower is closed Mondays, otherwise everyday from 9 to 21 o'clock, if I'm not mistaken. Had a great time there!
