It is not just for the artworks that this is worth the trainride from Nørreport or the main station (in both of which you can purchase a combined train and museum ticket to save time) to Humlebæk. Pick a clear day so as to be able to get the most of the site as a whole. The architecture, design and landscape as it slopes towards Øresund are just as inspiring as the artworks. Give yourself ample time to stroll through the garden, have a bite at the cafeteria (which will be crowded with locals for Sunday brunch) and go back and forth between your favourite exhibits. Tickets are 100, 95 for students, up to age 18 no charge, and there is plenty of entertainment for children and youngsters.

A trip to Louisiana is a lovely way to get out of the city, enjoy the coastline, and see some fantastic modern art. Really enjoyed it - only wished we had more time. The Museum is about 15 minutes walk from Humlebaek train station - less than 30 minutes from Copenhagen Central station.

A nice and beautiful place to visit. You can relax and walk arund to see the fantastic Art and the exhibitions are always of world class standard. You can see a lot of the fantastic art collections inside and out side. One more thing is the awesome view over Öresund. It's amazing to walk in the park and enjoy everything from art to viewIf you have small children this is a perfect travel destination, the children get to make their own art items in children house. This is so wonderful to see all that is so creative.Ther is a small shop to get some special thing and beautiful picture you can buy.If you get hungry ther is a good restaurant. they serve a buffet that is good to enjoy the wonderful view. Don´t forget to have a 20 Danish krona to storage box, you get it back afterwards. So this is free.

We stopped at Louisiana on the way back to Copenhagen after having visited Elsinore in the morning. We walked from the train station. It took us about 15 minutes and it was very easy to get to.The collection of modern art here is staggering. It's all housed in a sprawling complex that is wonderfully designed. Perhaps the most intriguing thing about the museum is its location along the seaside. There are a number of incredible works that are outside in the gardens including mobiles by Calder. There is an indoor children's activity center that is well used.WE opted to stope here on the way back to Copenhagen from Elsinore as the museum stays open later than the castle---

Loved this place. Beautiful place just outside Copenhagen. I ended up going to this museum before doing anything in Copenhagen. I don't regret it one bit. Beautiful view. Exhibits were great. Seemed so diverse that there was something bound to please anyone. Gave it one less star because it is a bit expensive using regional train. Despite this, I wouldn't leave this off your list of things to do.

Nature and culture in a perfect symbiosis!! It is a contemporary Art museum but I think is more than this. It is a place to enjoy, close to the sea, with unexpected windows with amazing views...to enjoy on a sofa!!! Galleries too have a deep relationship with the nature....the internal and external sides of the museum seems to be without borders...

Splendid place - a combination of long-term and temporary exhibitions. Situated near the sea and surrounded by a lovely garden with outdoor sculpture, a sea view and an enchanting lake. We were fortunate in that the temporary exhibition featured paintings by the artist Paula Modersohn Becker, of whom we were not hitherto aware, but who was enormously gifted (but, alas, died at a tragically young age). The cafeteria is of very high quality - the open sandwiches with plaice and with mushroom being especially fine. A minor inconvenience is the necessity to use twenty-crown coins to operate the safes or cloakroom coat hangers; but in the event we were glad to have our coats available, since the enjoyment of viewing the exhibits is enhanced by proceeding outdoors at various points, to absorb some of the natural beauty and surroundings, before continuing refreshed. The way the museum combines the indoors with the outdoors, making the most of the beautiful setting of the building, is itself a stroke of architectural genius and is very much to be relished. A wonderful experience. On a practical note - the museum is very accessible from central Copenhagen - about thirty minutes or even less by rail. Well worth it!

i have never experienced such an appreciation for Yoko Ono as I did when I visited her incredible exhibit at Lousiana. This beautiful museum is a wealth of both indoor and outdoor beauty. After viewing the many exhibits, enjoy delicious food In a lovely park like setting.

This museum is fantastic. The Danish Modern architecture of the museum, tucked away near the sea, lends to a superb display of art. As you meander (inside and out), there are many places to stop and rest. The café within the museum serves excellent food at a great price. I cannot recommend this place enough-- I only wish I'd been there to experience this in the summer!

2 exhibitions were not open yet and we were left with painting of naked, sad and shy women by Paula Modersohn plus art by a few other really sleep provocative artists.. It's way overrated to pay 110kr for that. The only plus side was the garden which has a magnificent sea view.

Our family visited the Louisiana museum of modern art in late December and thoroughly enjoyed it. The art work was fantastic and we especially enjoyed the outdoor features with a number of them located on a lookout overlooking the Oresund towards Sweden. This provides a dramatic backdrop and adds to the effect of the sculpture'sThe museum has a great section for the younger family members to keep them entertained between viewing the different sections so this makes it attractive for the entire family to visit. There is a restaurant/café which sells a selection of food. We found the food relatively expensive although the quality was very good so at the end of the day it balances out.An excellent souvenir shop can also be found with a wide selection of modern and more traditional art for sale.

I've been to many modern art museums/galleries and this is my new favourite. It's a relaxing 40 minute train ride from Copenhagen Central Station to Humlebaek and a brisk 10 -15 minute walk from there. The museum is situated by the sea with stunning views over the Oresund out to Sweden. When we went, there was a selection of top-notch pieces from the Museum's permanent collection (including Giacometti, Bacon, Picasso, Bourgeois) and a major retrospective of the German painter Paula Modersohn-Becker. The latter was a revelation - beautifully curated and really interesting. The museum comprises a series of low level buildings linked by glass corridors which fit beautifully into the landscape. Added to this, there are stunning sculptures in the gardens and you can walk out into the gardens at various points in the gallery. The cafe and shop are also very good (special mention for the roast beef smorrebrod).

A shortish train ride from Copenhagen Main station to Humelbaek station and a 15 minute walk(follow the crowds) from this station brings one to the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art. A fabulous modern building with extensive grounds used as a sculpture park. The site looks out over the sound to Sweden. There is an excellent restaurant which was very busy at the time of our trip.I guess in summer there are more tables outdoors. Although there were many visitors, one could normally get up close and really study the art.Personally I make use of the wonderful little folding chairs that seem to be available in many Danish museums. The permanent exhibition has much of interest.Dont miss the concealed room tucked away behind the space where much of the Giacomettiworks are displayed. The window of the main room has great views of the pond and garden.
