We had a perfect visit to the Amazon. We spend a night in the treehouse in the jungle in the middle of a wild rainstorm, a night in a cabin near the Macuna longhouse, with lunch and a leisurely afternoon visiting there, a night at the Marasha Reserve in Peru, and a night in Puerto Narino. We had one guide for the first two days and a different one for the second two. Both were excellent. In particular, Elvis Cueva Marquez was extremely knowledgeable about the animals, birds, and plants of the jungle. I can't recommend this highly enough! We ate well, slept well, met a lot of local people, and were very well taken care of. If you are going to Leticia to see the Amazon, this is the way to go!
I arrived early and had a private guide because no one else was there yet. I loved the ropes course that went into the canopy. Then we went kayaking down a pristine shallow river with a good current. It was so beautiful. At the end there was a big delicious lunch prepared. After lunch, my guide walked me through the "orchard" of exotic fruit trees and we sampled from each one.
Enroute to Manaus, Brazil for the World Cup, my family and I signed up for a four night tour with Tanimboca: one night Treehouse, one night cabin on property, one night Marasha in Peru, and one night in Puerto Narino. Claudia who runs the front office is a professional and doesn't miss a detail. She followed our Tabatinga to Manaus plane flight which had been canceled for the day before and made sure we got to airport with plenty of time and to navigate the somewhat hectic airport situation due to the World Cup. Staff made sure we met with the Serbian owner who gave us pointers on crossing the border into Brazil (which included some colorful stories of his 20 years living in the three-borders area) and our guide gave us some key basic phrases in Portuguese. The tour itself was fantastic. The Treehouse is an engineering marvel with a creative toliet set up. The next day after breakfast we did a zip line. I actually had a moment of panic, but my 17 year old guide was able to talk me off the ledge (so to speak) and I completed the activity. Highlight was seeing for the first time in the wild Pygmy Marmosets in the canopy. We took a few hours hike through the rainforest to this maloca (indigenous amazon house for three families) that Rodrigo (our guide)'s grandmother lives in. Rodrigo is a great guide for Tanimboca. Third night we spent at Marasha reserve. There were only two tourists groups at Marasha during the time we spent here. Us and two guys from Bogota (high season isn't until July). We loved this place! A highlight was the extended families of wild cabybaras that hung out by the dock (world's largest rodent). Night canoe, food, macaws were also fun. Elvis another Tanimboca guide took us from Marasha on a small private boat to the car free town of Puerto Narino. Visited villages and squirrel monkey reserve on the way. We ended up talking with a restaurant owner and Elvis into the evening about social and political issues in USA and Colombia. On our final day, Elvis toured us around Leticia and through Brazilian immigration in Tabatinga before dropping us off at the airport. Great trip!
Our 5 day jungle adventure was the highlight of our trip so far. It's a very busy couple of days, and you get up close and personal with several different jungle sites. Without too many spoilers, ours included; a epic tree house, zip lining, kayaking, camping and a couple of beautiful jungle cabanas. We even spent a night at Marasha which is currently the other leading activity on TripAdvisor.By the part that made it was our guide. We paid slightly more to have an English guide and this is well worth the investment. Elvis knew every plant, every animal and all the history. He knew when to come and hang out with us, and when to leave us to it. Highly recommend this! You'll want to bring; a good head torch, clothes that can be wet and dry, long sleeves and pants. Silk sleeping liner. Rain jacket and lots of mossie repellent!
If you enjoy a nice and timely jungle tour this will meet your expectations with numerous sites along the path ... including tree houses and the beauty of it .
Professional team, great location, good organization and security....definitely enjoyed our adventure. Just a 20mn bus ride from Leticia (take the minibus KM11 downtown in front of anaconda hotel).
Wonderful experience! Tanimboca thoughfully and carefully planned every single adventurous activity and important details of our 5 day stay. We were 8 adults, who enjoyed absolutely every experience and awesome customer service. Very helpful staff and tour guides.
The guys at the Tanimboca Natural Reserve were great. We came to do canopy and while we waited at the different stations (some of them placed at several feet from the ground) learned a lot about local culture. Our guides were amazing. They took care of every aspect related to safety and double checked with us about any concern we might have had. Surfing through the Amazon jungle hanging from a rope was great and our guides made it even better.
Friendly staff, helpful. A short walk in the (15 years old) jungle, safe zip-lines. Fantastic half day. Used public transport bus 2400 CP eaw.
Very knowledgeable and patient staff. Had a blast with zip lining and kayaking. Food was amazing. The small snake zoo is all the more impressive once you learn that the local snakes are only kept 40 days before they are released and new ones caught right there in the reserve.
It it one of the greatest Tours there and good price! The Guide are very helpfull and knows very well their job is really very secure to walk around in the amazon forest! It´s Great!!!!!
I spent a night in the reserva in the tree house. It was just amazing even with the rain at night. The staff on the site are the most generous and genuine people. They are very friendly and professional. I also did the canopy activity. It is really high and can be quite scary even though in reality it is gentle. The staff again is very understanding and patient. They guide you through and the safety is optimum. The kayak activity is not that great. Too short in my opinion even though the guide was excellent and telling stories about the jungle. Food was perfect but if you are fussy you have to realise they have little to cook with. One of the best places I stayed at.
This was great fun. The guides really took their time, explained everything and were very professional and safety conscious
Canopying and kayaking are the activities in this reserve, but I think is kind of expensive for such a short time. The place is nice and very close to Leticia you can get there by bus.
My family of 5 loved the treehouse. Great way to feel a part of the rain forest - Especially during a thunderstorm. The staff was really friendly and strived to deliver more than promised. And, the food was wonderful. It is in the middle of nowhere, but that is the point.
