I really loved this place to go along the shore and walk. If you like sports you can practice running, roller-blading or biking. People are nice and they enjoy their mate next to the beach.
This is a place for you to walk. There is nothing like a "sightseeing", it is just to walk, see the sea, enjoy the peace. If you can rent a bike there are more than 25 km to ride!!!!
Great place to go for a walk or bike in the morning or to see the sunset. It has almost 20 km length and is by the Plata River. Great view!
Follow the Rambla is a great way to know the outskirts of Montevideo. Beautiful views, beaches, nice places to eat in different neighbourhoods. Avoid using the Exchange Services inside the arrival lounge at the International Airport: their claim they are offering a promotional rate, but their exchange rate is the worst.
One of the bests things Montevideo has is by far "La Rambla", its more than 20 kms. long, all overlooking the sea, you can drive, walk, bike, excerise, whatever you feel like. Its a pleasure to drive to work every day driving next to the sea, the air is always fresh, in summer people go to the beach and in the afternoon La Rambla gets packed with people walking or just sitting having a local mate, or taking some air.People in Montevideo dont quite realize the luxury of having a Rambla and what it means to be able to live and drive next to the sea every day.
Fantastic place!!! whether it is a sunny day or in stormy weather the rambla is a go to place when you are in Montevideo. Miles of seaside (actually riverside) for leisure walks, for enjoying all sorts of beach sports (even fishing!)... Watch sunrises, sunsets, and even moonrises on the water which make this beaches so special. The road goes on and on all along the city's nicest neighbourhoods and fancy shopping centres. Enjoy fresh seafood at small fishermen's eateries or at elegant restaurants. See the old meet the modern buildings.Walk, jog, or simply drive by... The rambla will offer the most incredible views at any time of the day.
We cycled the 22 km of this and it was a great antidote to the city centre. Lovely beaches, most of which were deserted and plenty of pit stop opportunities for cold beers, fresh fish, tapas etc
La Rambla has it all! Cricket, jogging, soccer/futbol, cycling, prams, la passeggiata, parilla restaurants, skaters and most of all beach and water! There are not many places that you can see 2 bodies of water meet. Here it's colour coded, visual and La Rambla is like an alongated plaza seen in other major landlocked cities. Everything can happen on La Rambla.
Great promenade in Montevideo alonge the ocean coast. Start your walking tour from Playa the Pocitos thate you have nice stone landmark MONTEVIDEO
Highly recomended during spring summer and fall. Walking, running are daily activities that residents practice along or in couples. Local infusion "mate" is the common beverage. You will love it.
