Very relaxing, we stopped there to rest for a while during a tour in the Macedon Ranges. Really nice place with barbecue and restrooms.
We stopped here because we were looking for toilets (very clean by the way) and were delighted to find the gardens with a duck pond, a playground and a picnic area with BBQ. There is a short walk around the gardens which only takes about 15 minutes or so. It is not your picturesque lush green flowery garden but one filled with trees of differing species that are old enough to have a tale or two to tell. Down the back of the gardens, the path opens out onto a view of the viaduct that was built in 1860. A marvel of Railway engneering that I never knew was there until we stumbled upon it. It is worth taking a break here and checking out some of Victoria's history.
The gardens are located on the edge of town.If you haven't brought a picnic you can easily walk up to the bakery and bring back something to eat.The gardens were established in the 1800's so the trees are well established and there is full grass cover. The central lake and the stone railway bridge add to the atmosphere. There are paths for walking around. There are also toilets and a small playground there. These gardens are well worth visiting.
