Enjoyable picturesque spot. Good BBQ facilities and amenities exist. Lovely boardwalk around the dam.
We recently moved to the Glass House Mountains and wanted to explore places of interest reasonably close to home. Off we went for a drive in my husbands old car and stumbled on Ewen Maddock Dam only 15mins up the road. There is a great play area for the kids and a few people out on the water in their kayak's. There's plenty of parking and a picnic area for everyone to relax and enjoy a BBQ or a packed lunch. After lunch you can follow the board walk to a track for a bit of site seeing. Absolutely stunning and great for up and coming photographers like myself, lol.
Did two visits here during a stay nearby. The long dirt track circling the dam was perfect for a long walk with my girlfriend, and I went back for a longer trail run, which was a lot of fun. Did 5km there, 5km back (10km total), which I think was getting close to the total length of the track. Would be awesome to bring a mountain bike here! There are public BBQs and an area for kayaking and swimming right near the carpark
We drove from Brissy to this lake on a long weekend, so a lot of congestion along the road, it was a hot day so we wanted to have the chance to cool off .. however the water kind of stinks and not very pleasant. Everything else is pretty ordinary, just like a normal picnic place that you could find everywhere else. In general it is not more than a picnic place and the swimming not very nice
Love this place to turn up in the summer months and go for a swim. Water is lovely and warm and you always meet people when your there to say hello to.
The riding and walking tracks are very popular. It is a lovely cool place to ride a horse in the Summer when it is very hot. Many cyclists use the tracks also it is a safe environment to ride walk or bike due to there being no traffic. A peaceful experience.
Even after heavy rain, this area offers something for all outdoor fans. Very nice picnic and access facilities at Mooloolah end of the Dam, approximatley 10km long trail ends near Landsborough and offers varied views and aspects surrounding the dam. Trail condition varies from stony in parts to mainly flat and sandy. Boggy areas associated with heavy rain, lots of goanas, birds and snakes on occasion (they move off quickly)
No better damn to visit on the Sunshine Coast. It has nice eating areas and a great playground for the kids. Its a great spot for some water fun, and is right next to a BMX bike track, skate park and tennis courts.
