I'm making ice cream myself for private purpose, so I was curious about theirs. We stopped on our way and ordered 3 different ice creams. I was a bit underwhelmed by the taste of their ice cream, especially the vanilla version. I don't know why, but even also I'm only using natural ingredients my own ice cream has much stronger taste. In addition their ice cream had a strange consistency, something I didn't like too much. At AUD 5 for a small cup it's quite expensive.
Whenever I visit Daintree and Cape Tribulation, no visit is complete without a visit to Betty and her Ice Cream factory. With over 60 flavours, with every one as exotic as the next it really is heaven on earth for ice cream and exotic fruit and flavours fiends.Take a cool box with you and buy them in bulk to put in your freezer! They are really that good you wish you could have them as a guilty pleasure at home.On my last visit my friend had Rozella and I had Ginger, Banana and Wattle Seed. We both kept swapping as they were both as wonderful as each other. With Betty being here for nearly 40 years her skill at blending such exotic flavours is second to none. Also, when you visit pay a quick visit to Betty's Gallery. Credited as being one of the top 100 botanical artists in the world and with one of her paintings being exhibited at present in The Smithsonian, she is a beautiful humble lady with so much to be proud about.A delightful experience for the taste buds and the soul.
We stayed near this little shop and picked up ice cream from there a couple of times. It was very good & a great way to try new and interesting flavors.
Best ice cream in the Daintree, don't worry about anywhere else this has heaps of flavours and all natural
Stopped here late yesterday (tues 17.2.15) its a lovely little place with loads of tables and chairs, mostly under cover. Some flavours are bit unusual with ingedients such as sweet potato. Partner had mint, coconut &chocolate whilst I enjoyed a triple chocolate... both were very tasty. Set price of the tub (? 200mls) $5 so no need to worry bout a small, medium or large ☺ the business is for sale so here's hoping it gets sold to somone who maintains the many many flavours presently on offer
Our family made it our regular stop in traveling from Daintree to Cape Trib duirng our vacation. Great selection.
Can't drive past without pulling in, parking and trying some of the delicious home made ice cream. Made of all local produce and some combinations you wouldn't imagine, but work splendidly.
Have to agree with the other reviewers- when we went there were 26 potential ice creams on offer, but only 6 available. We noticed that the place is up for sale, so perhaps the current owners are just ticking it over rather than running it to the max?
There is more money and effort put into the signs out the front than the actual place itself. Was like a ghost town. It advertises 26 flavours and the 1st one I ask for (mango) is sold out. That confused me as its a 'ice cream factory' and Mango would be a popular seller so I would have thought there would be an endless supply. The front grounds/gardens are a mess, every garden is over run with weeds and makes the place look like its a run down park from the 80's. There was noone at the counter when we arrived so we werent even sure if they were open. When the lady came down, she was lovely though. As for the ice cream itself, very over priced and ive had better many times. My son enjoyed his, mine was supposed to be devils chocolate, triple choc, it taked like a home brand ice cream that'd been in the freezer too long, all icey. They had roughly 7 different flavours of the 26 available for sale. Not sure why youd advertise the 26 if you cant buy what you want on the day. We wont be returning. And I wouldnt recommend it either.
Really nice staff and amazing ice cream! Be sure to check out the Art painted by the owner in the gallery towards the back.
Fantastic array of icecreams you won't see in other places. Get a couple of tubs and share to get the best value. Part of the picturesque Cape Trib area
We called here and can only say we were disappointed that the ice creams were all in tubs. Lots of amazing flavours, not all available on the day, but a good selection. $5 for a small tub, expensive we thought. Maybe we have been spoilt by the standard of ice creams in other places in Cairns.
Called in here whilst visiting Cape Tribulation. Wow, so many flavours to choose from. A great place to stop on a hot sunny day and enjoy some wonderful ice cream. Recommended. Free Wi-Fi.
Fabulous tasting icecream .. using real milk and real fruit. And what a surprise when we check out the art gallery.
A great variety of flavours & delicious creamy old-fashioned Ice-cream in a peaceful, pretty setting.
