What a great collection of agricultural equipment from a bye gone time, there is plenty to look at with some very good volunteers on hand to answer any questions you may have.
The Gunnedah Rural museum is located on the outskirts of Gunnedah, on the left hand side along Oxely Highway. This place is huge with hundreds of item of memorabilia and is supposed to be one of the largest vintage machinery displays in Australia.Entry fee is $8 per adult and there is lots to see here from-tractors, steam engines, carriages, farm machinery, gun collections, mining, timber and lots more.Well worth the visit.
If you have any interest in collecting objects to do with any aspect of Australian culture, you will find something here. The museum is spread across a few large sheds, from blacksmiths tools to kitchen and medical equipment, tractors, barbed wire, shearing tools, - you get the idea. There is also a shed devoted to the Grosser collection - a comprehensive collection of cars, tractors and machinery that is truly mind boggling. A must for anyone enthusiastic about Australia's rural past. Its curators should be congratulated for trying to preserve so many disappearing artefacts.
