Staff are rude very expensive to camp especially because it's unpowered, facilities look like they never get cleaned. Disgusting.

A group of girlfriends and I went on the lovely gourmet picnic horse ride at Glenworth Valley last weekend for my Hens Day. The whole experience was great from the initial inquiry to the day itself. Isabel - who coordinated the day for us - was very prompt and helpful in organising a private ride for our larger group (8+ people). Most of us are beginner riders but had no problem being allocated an appropriate horse for our skill levels. On the ride we were accompanied by Isabel and a couple of volunteer riders who provided helpful advice on the basics of riding, sitting comfortably and guiding the horses as required. After approximately 2 hours on the trial we came to the picnic location and enjoyed some home-made grilled chicken, bread rolls, quiches, pasta salad, potato salad and chocolate brownies (yum!). The ride back was equally as leisurely and finished with sitting on the back deck of the main building with wine, cheese and biscuits. All in all, it was a lovely day (particularly great because of the excellent weather we lucked out on). The experience went from around 11:30am signing in, to about 5pm by the time we left in the afternoon. Everyone I came across was friendly and approachable. I'd recommend this ride for anyone wanting to experience some relaxing horse riding in bushland surroundings while also splurging on a nice lunch and afternoon nibbles.

You'll be a group of over 10 people, so don't expect a personalised experience. Horses are lovely, but not particularly fit or disciplined, which I put the huge number of horses at this facility. If you're a regular rider, I'd find something a tad smaller so you can learn to improve your riding and have a more personalised experience. That said, if you're up for a leisurely trail ride through the bush with family, it's certainly a good option.

Just spent a weekend camping at secluded Glenworth Valley. Loads of beautiful spots to camp, no marked out pitches so not crowded in next to others. Plenty of shade around the sites aswell. Shallow creek running through valley gives the kids never-ending fun and adventure. And all just an hour from Sydney.Horseriding trails are beautiful and they cater for all levels. My wife had a great 2 hour ride and we took the kids on a guided trek for an hour which they loved. Also do quad biking, abseiling and laser skirmish but we didn't try any of these out. The activities seem pretty busy so best to book ahead.Absolutely top spot for a night or two away.

Spent a fab two nights camping with three other families and we all had a great time. Close to our Sydney base and a quick trip up the freeway meant more time for the kids to play in the creek and for the grown-ups to sit back and watch them enjoying being outdoors. Little ones enjoyed watching the horses go by. Loved the free hot showers and being able to have an open fire for toasting marshmallows! No phone reception a bonus. :)

I was very nervous before this adventure it was a anniversary present for my husband.. but I was surprised by having g a great time... Justin our instructor was so friendly and eased me into it was a great scenic ride to and from the track that gave me confidence once we were at the track. So as a beginner I had a ball and hubby with more experience also really enjoyed himself

I went camping with 3 other friends (4 adults). While we had a reasonably enjoyable time and all the staff we came across are super friendly, I thought $25 per person was way overpriced for following reasons:- When I tried to make a booking for a site at Mil Paddock I was told it is a ‘family only’ area and we will be allocated at Maloney’s Paddock which is an ‘adults only’ area. We don’t have a problem with either way but when we arrived at Maloney’s Paddock we were surrounded by kids left, right, and centre. I don’t understanding having policies and not following it through.- There must have been at least 300 campers in Maloney’s Paddock alone that weekend – serviced by only porta-loos and ONE portable shower. I don’t mind a cold shower, especially on a hot day during the Australia Day Long weekend, but the portable shower room was tiny and stuffy and there was no light. Virtually nowhere to dry yourself quick enough knowing there is a queue outside the door. There is no light in the porta-loos and no light leading to the area either so you run the risk of stepping into horse poo which is everywhere, in the dark.- We were told by reception that there are a couple of ‘swimming holes’ along Popran Creek but when we went to those places we found that the water was not even knee deep. We were then told by another staff that we could try the kayak launch place where the water would be deep enough – only then got told by yet another staff on the way that we were not allowed to walk there before 5pm as it was supposed to be a horse trail (but cars and quad bikes no problem you just can’t walk!).- You literally can’t go anywhere between 9am and 5pm as every path in the complex is deemed a horse trail.- Lastly as we were packing up and leaving for the weekend, I was shaking my picnic rug when I was got told off by a staff that the noise (of shaking a picnic rug) would startle the horses and I was to immediately stop doing so. I guess fair enough but if the horses don’t get startled by the staff yelling at us at the top of his voice, the staff motorbikes that are constantly going back and forth the grounds, the kids screaming, I fail to understand why it is so bad to shake a piece of cloth – just sayin!I am sure Glenworth Valley is a top adventure activity destination – however if the place is not actually camping-friendly then I would suggest don’t market it as a camping destination. If like us, you just want a basic, back to the nature, but nice campsite where you can go swimming and bush walking as you please, the National Park sites ($14 per person) are much more enjoyable and better value.

+ Beautiful location in the valley.- Had to wait a long time to get everyone saddled up and on their way. We waited for 25 minutes on our horses in the corral before we were able to start our ride, and we ended up coming back before the 2 hours were up. There is often varying levels of riders on the same ride, making it difficult if you want to do a trot or canter and there are others who have never ridden before. We also had to wait for other riders who had gone off on their own.Overall a nice place for a ride, but next time we will be the ones to go off on our own a bit so we're not held back by those that haven't ridden before.

I went on a full day camp with my sister. I am 9 and my sister is 7. I loved my horse and teacher (Jo). Jo gave me lots of good tips to improve my riding. I learnt heaps and had fun. Thanks - from Ollia

Dear Tracy,Thank you for taking the time to document your experience and advise us of items that did not meet your satisfaction. We are glad to hear that “overall the experience was good” and that those who participated in the horse ride said “they were happy with the ride, and said they would go again” with us, which was pleasing to hear. I also note that you did not participate in any of our activities yourself and instead waited around for your children and their friends to complete their activity on what was a very hot and humid day, to say the least. We were also glad to hear that our booking staff were able to accommodate a large number of changes to your booking to your satisfaction since your booking was first made 12 months ago. Please allow us to respond to your concerns as noted below. Our records confirm that rather than having 100+ riders going through the horse riding area, our booking system indicates we had 31 riders ride with us during the time you were here. Likewise with the number of horses in and around the horse riding centre, whilst we have 200 horses in total there was only 50 horses in here on the day and not 200 as you suggested. Yes we were still putting riders on at 1pm however these were children booked in for a 1pm lead pony ride.Waiting Around - We can certainly understand how it must have felt uncomfortable waiting around for a long period of time when you arrived 45 minutes early for your scheduled booking time followed by waiting for your children to complete their horse ride on such a hot, humid day. It may be of interest to you to know that we are shortly about to start construction of a major new function centre / booking office area that will provide a whole range of additional facilities for all our customers to use including air conditioned restaurant / café, conference area, new booking in reception area, additional new toilet and shower facilities for our campers etc. Slowness - We acknowledge that sometimes it feels frustrating when you are all eager and excited to get out on the trails. Our business has been providing horse riding activities for over 40 years and in our experience we feel its of utmost importance not to rush customer safety or customer satisfaction particularly when we are looking after nervous beginners or young children who often require increased attention. Because your children were riding as unaccompanied minors it also took a little longer than normal to match them up with other riders on a group to ensure they had a safe and enjoyable experience. Cleanliness – We take great pride in cleaning all our facilities on a regular basis. On the day you attended all our facilities were clean and tidy however there was a large group who based themselves and took over a number of tables near the booking office with young children that were rather messy. We cleaned up the area in amongst this group on a number of occasions throughout the day, however they were unfortunately quite a messy group and they appeared not to make any effort to clean up after themselves while they were there. We do thank you for your feedback, and trust that your overall experience at Glenworth Valley was a good one as mentioned in your review. We are thrilled to hear your daughter and her friends had a wonderful time on their 2 hour trail ride, and we do hope to host you again in the future.
