wing's wildlife park

As my oldest daughter was overseas, we visited Ulverstone with my youngest daughter (14 yrs) and her friend. We went to the Wings Wildlife Park after visiting the Gunns Plains Caves. Lunch there was nice. Toasties were so BIG. No complaints about the food. Once inside the park the girls went off by themselves and my husband & I had a good look around. He especially enjoyed the fish (feeding etc) and the cockatoos. I'm a "furry animal" person so loved the wombats, wallabies etc.After the smaller animals we headed out to the larger breeds. We were fascinated & in awe of the American Bison. Never seen them before anywhere so this was great. my husband couldn't get over their size and powerful build. Had several photos taken with them in the background.We have been to Wing's Wildlife approx 4-5 times over the past 16 years and enjoy it each time. Would love to camp there sometime near the river but.................. the old story, only so many holiday breaks in a year etc.

The staff were so knowledgable and friendly. Loved the fact that is is a refuge for injured animals too. Close and personal with wombats, tassie Devils, koala walking with the Kangaroos and many more wonderful animal experiences.

We are so pleased we visited Wing's Wildlife Park. This is a family owned/run wildlife park and it shows. The animals are all well looked after and you can see that all the keepers really care about the animals.It is not a glitzy wildlife park but very much a family friendly place. A great variety of animals - Tasmanian Devils, Eagles,Wombats, monkeys, birds of prey, meerkats, kangaroos, koalas, spotted quolls and numerous fish, snakes, lizards. Too many to itemise. They have a good on-site cafe with plenty of seating and prices are very reasonable. I believe you can also bring your own lunch etc. The Tasmanian Devil feeding at 1pm was great. Very knowledgeable and the actual feeding was an eye opener. At the end you were able to pat a very young Tasmanian Devil which was a real treat. Make the effort to visit this park. You will not be disappointed.

The highlight of the visit was seeing Douggie the Wombat and patting his tummy.He lives with a rabbit and it was quite funny watching the rabbit washing him.He was in total bliss and like the other animals in Wings obviously totally contented with his life.I spent half a day here and could have easily spent more time.The park is well laid out, very well maintained and the animals look very well fed.Another high point was feeding the kangaroos. They grab your hand and hang on to you (with huge claws, but dont scratch) while they eat out of your hand, with up to 3 kangaroos at a time hanging on to me (I have big hands).It was really fun especially as the joeys were hanging out of the mums pouch staring up to watch was going on.Also the devil talk and pat. I must admit I hated them before I came to the park but now have changed my opinion.I also did Leven Canyon, Preston falls and Gunns Cave over 2 days (camping in Leven Canyon).Beautiful countryside.Great coffee at the cafe.Give it a visit. I reckon you will be impressed.

Family and individuals from any age can have the day out to see and feel the nature of TasmaniaGreat art of the country to visit - the whole valley has everything from the Wildlife park,fishing,walks and fresh air.......great photography scenes to capture.....

I stayed in one of the cabins for a week with my 2 boys aged 8 and 5. The accomodation was basic but we only used it as a base and lace to sleep. Was awesome waking up to and falling asleep to the kookaburras laugh. As well as the animals in the park we got to see some around the cabin as well with a visit from a kangaroo and also an echidna which the kids loved. A must see is the Tassmanian Devil feeding and getting to pat a baby devil

You can pet baby tasmanian devils, koalas, and wombats.The crew was highly proffesional and super nice.

45min from Burnie,60 min from Devonport driving through some of the best rural views to be seen on the NW Coast.The park is a family run business (5th generation) and has the most extensive range of native animals in Tasmania.Very accessible for people of all ages and is wheelchair friendly.The staff will bend over backwards to help out and answer all your questions.Check for feeding times of the Tasmanian Devils (1pm at present) and wallabies can be fed any time by you with animal food available at the counter before your visit starts.A new chef has just been employed and some of his simple dishes are just superb.A well priced and well stocked souvenir shop is at hand.You can spend 1,2,3 hours or more,it's up to you.It's a destination well worth visiting.

Took the kids, they have mostly native animals, including a number of tassie devil enclosures, many of which were out and about. The definite highlight was seeing and petting the baby tassie devil,mother guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. Also some interesting birds, snakes, marmosets, meerkats, wombats etc.The farm part wasn't as good as most of the animals were quite far away.

Really enjoyable. Make sure you go for the Tasmanian Devil feeding and the koala and wombat viewing times. Really informative.

We had a quick visit from the cruise ship to the park and really enjoyed it. We got to see devils getting fed, petted a baby devil, touched a sleeping koala and feed the Roos. Just a great time and the staff is excellent.

Great place to take little ones for them to experience up close some of our amazing wildlife. Able to pat the koala, feed to kangaroos, even a 3 year old fed kangaroos they were so gentle! and pat a baby tassie devil.

Wing’s Wildlife Park is a hidden gem that I am so glad we found. This wildlife park has both a normal zoo as well as a farm and in both of these areas you can feed many of the animals. There is plenty to explore and a lot of animal to get up close to. A range of talks and feedings of different animals are available at various times throughout the day. I would recommend this to anyone, you certainly don’t have to be a kid to enjoy this wildlife park.My tip is to organise a trip to Wing’s Wildlife Park and Gunns Plains Caves on the same day, leaving plenty of time for each. They are very close to one another which will make the most of the drive.

We were traveling around Tasmania and stumbled across this wildlife park outside of Ulverstone and very glad we did. The staff were friendly and very knowledgeable. The animals were all healthy and well looked after and we were able to feed and pat some animals which is always a bonus.There is quite a wide selection from native animals to farm animals. It is quite a large property so we happily spent several hours wandering around seeing everything.

It is run by 4 generations of the Wings family and have lived and farmed in the Gunns Plains valley for many years.The wildlife park is very child and wheelchair friendly. Nice stock of souvenirs and light lunches also available but the best news is that if you want to experience Tasmanian Devils,this is the best place to see them.They are fed at 1pm daily (I think ?) and the staff are so helpful and friendly.Walk amongst the wallabies and hand feed them with heaps of birds , monkeys ,huge trout ponds,bison,and heaps of other stuff.A very laid-back and informative place to visit for all age groups.
