We stopped here on the way back to Hobart from Wine glass bay. At first there was nobody around and we thought that we were going to have to leave without sampling any wine, but luckily one of the team had spotted us arriving and made their way over to us. I can't remember the guys name, but he was really friendly and apologised for not being at the cellar door as he was currently bottling wine. Once he had made sure we all had a sample he then gave us a detailed account of how they bottle the wine on site which was all very interesting. The wines were f a very high standard as well and we always keep an eye out for the Pinto Noir when in a restaurant as a treat.
Visited Spring Vale wines for a tasting and was pleasantly surprised to find a pop-up restaurant at the winery. Great local food cooked in a wood fired oven with wines from the cellar door. Had the oysters Kilpatrick and the half crayfish with Reserve Chardonnay. I would definitely go again. Also the range of wines was up to the usual high standard.
I love the beautiful character building where the tasting room is located, and the friendly and knowledgeable service. The wines are top quality, my favourites are the Pinot Gris and the Louisa. The new addition of the marquee for dining in the vineyard is fantastic, a beautiful relaxed way to enjoy some sensational food and wine while looking out over the vineyard. We travelled in on motorbikes, and the east coast, and Spingvale are bike friendly.
I went here with my wife which was one of 3 wineries that we visited that day. We love visiting and purchasing wines from local wineries of where we visit and was particularly looking forward to this one from reading what the Lovely Planet had noted. We walked in and asked to try 3 whines. The male manager didn't say much and gave us the smallest amount, which was so small that we could not taste the wine properly as it generally takes a couple of sips to get the full flavour and know whether we like it or not. The next one came and same thing and then again with the last sample. Another couple then arrived with a regular guide and got nearly a full standard drink and when the manager saw us looking he stopped. We really quite liked the taste of the Pinot but there was no way that we was going to buy any wine from this place after this snobbish, rude behavior so left shortly after. We had purchased half a dozen wines from the first vineyard and a dozen bottles from the last vineyard. Due to the poor and disappointing management they actually missed out on a dozen or so bottles which were around $28 each from memory.

We stopped in for soem wine tasting and were served by a young lady very knowlegdable and friendly. The real surprise was the restaurant in the open under the gazebo, beautiful food and well priced. Would highly recommend this to anyone this summer as I think it was only a short term set up.
We were welcomed with a friendly smile to the winery. the gardens are charming and the historical tasting room just gorgeous. Couldn't decide between the Sauvignon Blanc or the Gewurtztraminer. Both so good!
The other nearby wineries are nice, but the friendly staff here, interesting old building surrounds and superb wine made this one our favourite! The 2012 Pinot Noir was up there in my top 2 favourite Tassie pinots, and if you are a Gewurztraminer fancier, you must try theirs, very nice indeed. This one shone above the others.
