Enjoyed our visit but would not be top of the list if short of time. The lake is lovely but not remarkable.
People come from all over the world to see the remarkable colour changes in the water. We were lucky to see it happen so check the dates. Well worth seeing and easy access.
We walked around the lake it was blue for the weekend and the walk was easy saw echidna on the walk.
This lake is situated in an old volcanic crater, and changes colour to a dark blue in November each year, gradually changing back to grey over summer. The lookout point gives a good view of the lake.
Our early morning lap was counter to the throng of locals running, shuffling and panting in the opposite direction. Many offers of 'welcome, come and join us next week' made us feel at home. The lake was it's summer vivid blue, the morning clear and the day beautiful. One of the world's wonders, not to be missed if you're in the vicinity.
A must see and a great walk around. The water colour was at its spectacular best. The Lake is within walking distance of The Mount Gambier Hotel for the fit and healthy.
When we visited the lake was very blue and looked lovely. We also went to the conservation area down near valley lake and had a walk through with the kangaroos and other assorted australian animals.A must do if your in the mount.
This is fantastic lake and views. Visit it am and pm to seen the change in colour.Great access to lots of views. Not far from mount gambier and also on the opposite side of the road is another lake that you can drive down to. Great place for picnic and BBQ.
Fantastic. It is even more blue in person. A must see. Many great viewing locations around the lake. All eqsy to park near. One or two require using stairs but most are accessible for all via a short stroll
The Blue Lake is The Blue Lake, When it is the glorious Blue it is fabulous It is a must if doing the Big Lap, There are other caves to visit, but instead of just heading down The Great Ocean Road, Spend some time here
Short drive to Lake from Mount Gambier. Having read about the history of the Lake and the Leake brothers who arrived in the district in the early 19th century to farm we wanted to visit the area.Enjoyable walk about lake and was a beautiful colour.
The Blue Lake certainly lived up to it's name. Very attractive walk all around the lake on easy path. Lookouts and benches. allow 45 mins to 1 hour. Park at corner of Bay Road and John Watson Drive. This is also the location to take the Aquifer Tour to the water level. $9 per adult very interesting. No need to book just turned up.
If in mount gambier, this is probably one of the places you will need to visit. The lake is "actually" blue and nice lookouts throughout to view the lake. Very kid friendly too.
The iconic Blue Lake is a real tourist attraction. No hype, just beautiful. November to February it is the most amazing cobalt blue. The walk around the lake takes 40-45 minutes and affords views of the Lake and surrounding country side and there are a number of other walks to take in the area. Take a tour down to the pumping station or have a coffee at the coffee shop. Well worth a look if you are in the area.
