I have walked and cycled every kilometre of the linear park from hills to sea many times over the years, especially the section north-east of the city. The archery club in North Adelaide to the weir is a particular favourite, usually stopping at Elder Park Kiosk for a coffee or hot chocolate before heading back past the zoo. It's a delight no matter what the weather.

The River Torrens that runs through the heart of city from the hills to the sea, through the Eastern and Western suburbs, has carved a gorge, more so on the Eastern Flank than the west and contains cycle/walking paths either side of the river banks.Along the way, there are BBQs and playgrounds and billabongs (small lagoons) and plenty of shaded areas. The Eastern side ends in the foothills and it is this side that is the most interesting and gets away from suburbia more than the Western side.Along the way there are parts you can cross the river,so you can split the journey up into small sections. In summer there is little water flowing ,but through the middle of Autumn to middle of Spring, the river generally is flowing and this is the best time to ride all walk.It is a good idea to wear a small backpack and take your baseball cap and sunglasses. There are areas by the river, where you can park your car...have a BBQ..and just take short strolls either way.The city section of the trail is really is ideal for tourists and locals alike and a pleasure at any time of the year.

this path is both great for bike riders, joggers, walkers, nature lovers and anyone wanting an outdoor activityi have travelled this path for many years, both in summer and winter, and i always enjoy the birdlife, the greenery surrounding the river, access to small bridges to cross from side to sidea pleasant day out for the family or a walk by yourself, its one of Adelaides most used fitness pathdo yourself a favour and enjoy life along the river

Rode the linear trail today with my 12 and 9 y/o kids. Started from the Henley Sailing Club carpark and rode to the Wellington Square Hotel for lunch. The trail is great; nothing more than undulating for 12km and not a single car to worry about. Have only ever ridden the "beach side" of the trail, and always find it a pleasant way to spend an hour or so. At its best on a clear July or August day when everything is green and the Torrens is flowing. Even in January, it is a green belt from the beach to the city.

A delightful walk back to the southern part of the city after dining in North Adelaide. Much better than walking along the road.

Great trail with lots of trees along the riverbank. Very suitable for some afternoon walk, or taking your bicycle out for some pedaling.

grab a bike, the family and go for. Ride for a few hours. Many great sites and places to relax on the way.

The river can get a little smelly when the wind blows the fountain water your way but the track is long and you can stop for a relax or picnic just about anywhere along the way on the grassy banks

Excellent trail, I started at the foothills and rode to the city. Relatively easy ride, lots of open space, playgrounds, ponds, etc. Beautiful spot to spend an afternoon. Next time I will go all the way to the ocean!

This trail, which runs from the foothills all the way to the ocean, really is amazing. I've been a few places in the world, and this trail is absolutely world class and dishes up a bit of everything along the way. I ride and run it often and it never, ever gets old. Different sections offer very different scenery, and it's not unusual to see all kinds of parrots, cockatoos and bird life along the way. It's nicer when there's a bit more water around (middle of summer can be a bit dry) but really it's awesome any time of year. I really can't speak highly enough of this trail. It's a great way to commute from one side of town to the other without ever having to cross a road, or you can run, walk or ride bits of it for pure enjoyment. If you're energetic enough, I'd say do the length of it in one hit (hills to beach is downhill with a few small inclines along the way) and is the better part of 30kms. Otherwise, just 'cherry pick' one bit at a time. The hills end (ie East of the city) tends to be a bit 'wilder' and more natural with the surrounding vegetation etc but all parts of it have something to offer. There are a few public toilets and drinking fountains along the way, but if you want something to eat or drink, one of the city cafes is probably your best bet.If you're riding you bike, just be considerate of walkers and runners. If you're walking or running, make sure you give cyclists some room to pass. Have fun and enjoy. This really is one of Adelaide's true treasures. And one i think even a lot of locals probably either take for granted, or don't even know it's there!

We walked from the Adelaide oval towards the zoo and up into the botanical gardens, a lovely relaxed walk with scenic river views, birds and wildlife. The area is also shaded a lot of the way. Later in the day we walked again from the Adelaide Oval in the opposite direction to the wier and onto the park the other side, where we caught a tram back into the city

We spent several hours on a sunny day walking this path along the river before our tired feet said, "That's enough." So, not wanting to leave the pretty river area, we went for drinks and something to eat a riverside bistro and bar called the Regatta. We never had another opportunity to return for another walk, but I loved how there were parks all along the way. If you had a bike, I imagine that you could bike away a few hours alongside both sides of the river. Also, there were enough bridges to take you from one side to another, the nicest one close to the Oval.

offten i like to catch the train with my push bike to the adelaide train station i then ride from there to the beach at henley to have a coffee or bite to eat at a cafe then ride on to the train stop at grange (aprox 17km from town to beach) to catch the train back to the city and then on to home. it dosnt matter on fitness level on this track as there are so many bench seats to rest and lots of shady trees to cool off under. the park also has many toilets and playgrounds along the way to the beach.if im going from the city to the hills for a change, i often pach my lunch and have it on the way. the hills are so amazing to look at while riding.i love this bike track for the ever changing land scape.

I jogged 8 miles around this park trail last night and was blown away!! Never have I felt such euphoric delight while enduring the hardships of a run! The place is spotless, with just the right amount of landscaping involved. The wildlife is rich and exotic (for a North American on a visit, any way: crazy beautiful birds all over the place). The run is well marked with distances to the next footbridge every time you see one. It's impossible to get lost, although you almost wish you would: it's that marvelous! Probably the best thing about Adelaide! A must!! Go for a walk or a cycle... The only damper: not enough direct access from downtown. Enjoy!
