I booked a trip with Dave 'Lunch' for my grandpa's 80th birthday. He planned the whole 4 day itinerary according to our desires and capabilities, including trips to Mikkira Station, the National Park and beautiful spots along the coastline. He also led our 'Hunt and Gather' trip where we snorkeled for Abalone and went fishing for local Salmon. Aside from being an extremely knowledgeable and accommodating tour guide, he also played the role of chef and photographer, packing us lunch everyday and taking some great snaps so that we had something to remember the trip by. Dave will go out of his way to make sure the trip is everything you want and more, the sights you will see are breathtaking, and if you are lucky enough to meet his wonderful family you will gain an insight into what he calls 'country hospitality,' however by our standards the invitation and experience was a true reflection that his tours are far more than just a job. He knows the land better than the back of his hand and you will be thoroughly entertained by his stories growing up in beautiful Port Lincoln. If you are looking for a trip to remember, get in touch with Dave and he will sort you out!
We had a fantastic time with Goin' Off Safaris. The day tour was informative and entertaining with our guide 'Fish' having us in stitches in the back of the 4x4 regaling us with stories of his past living and working on the Eyre Peninsula. The koalas in the wild were a highlight and so was the seafood. The trip was booked for Damon's 40th birthday and our time in Port Lincoln certainly was a gift to remember. David (Lunch) responded to all my emails prior to the trip in no time at all making the whole booking process easy from the shark dive through to our accommodation. We are looking forward to booking our next trip and wouldn't hesitate to use Goin Off Safaris again or recommending to friends - first class! Thanks @goinoffsafaris !!
We visited Port Lincoln as part of our honeymoon from the UK. Initially just to do the shark cage dive with the next day spare, after being messed around by Jetstar airlines we were only left with a few hours before we flew back to Adelaide. We contacted David and in no time we had our own private tailor-made tour packing in as much as possible. He even offered to start the day a bit earlier so we could maximise our time in this beautiful area. After a quick drive out of town we arrived at the 'Whaler's Way' coastal drive, stopping at several points to take in views and a nice hot cup of tea (weather was a bit rough) even spotting a few wild kangaroos. The wind was strong making the sea choppy which made to some great waves crashing with spray being flung into the air. Driving on/off the beach was great fun as it was a bit steep, the 4x4 made quick work of the sand dune though.Next stop was the Mikkira Station with the promise of wild Koalas (a first ever sight for both of us), after a short time David had found a number of them. one was even low enough down to get some great close-up photos. Lunch was supplied, a big salad with bread plus fresh oysters and the best wine I've ever had! I can't recommend Goin' off Safaris enough, we had such an amazing albeit brief time exploring such a wonderful area with a very knowledgeable and friendly guide. I just hope we can come back one day and spend more time exploring...
David, 'Lunch', was a fantastic guide and knew loads about the area and its history. We went to the Fresh Fish Place for an insight into the local fishing industry and to taste some delicious fresh fish. He took us up to Mikkira Station to spot some koalas, galahs and other wildlife and had a chat with the lovely Bet. Then David took us over to Port Lincoln National Parl which was absolutely beautiful and had some incredible views from Flinders Monument; vast expanses of lush park in every direction. Although this was only a day trip I'll definitely be coming back for a longer tour or to do some camping in the park.
We saw such beautiful scenery, went to local places, had wonderful food. Two full days of guided tour. Both of our guides were absolutely wonderful. One invited us to his home where his sweet wife went to the trouble to find out how to make sweet tea for these Southern USA guests! Our other guide took us cockle 'picking', then made us a spectacular meal. All in all, one of the high points of a great trip.
We were part of a corporate group that visited Port Lincoln recently. David from Goin Off Safaris was our host and had arranged the weekend for us. From the check in at the hotel to the last afternoon David looked after us superbly and provided plenty of interesting local knowledge. We did the Swim with the Tuna, ate at the best seafood restaurant in town, did a cage dive with the Great Whites and had an amazing lunch at the Boston Bay Winery with local chef Tony Ford. I thought the overall package was perfect and all of the little things were covered. ie extra towels on board for the swimming etc. If you are going to visit Port Lincoln and wish to enjoy an experience that is a bit above the normal I would recommend Goin Off Safaris.
We were on a cruise ship docking in Port Lincoln and had booked this tour prior to our arrival. David was very helpful and responsive in setting up our tour. Our driver, Fish, picked us up at the dock and we were on our way. First stop was the Fish Market for a fascinating tour and a yummy tasting. Next we headed to the beautiful Whaler's Way. The scenery here was very rugged with waves splashing up on the rocks. We saw fur seals playing in the water. Then on our way to Mikkira Station (stopped to watch emus on the way) for a great lunch and koala viewing in the manna gum trees which was amazing. Fish was an excellent tour guide. We saw lots of country on our way and had a tour of Port Lincoln on the way back to our cruise ship. Excellent tour and would definitely use Goin' Off Safaris again!
