The water tower is very visible from everywhere in Hawera and quite a landmark.probably not the best attraction in New Zealand but we did by a fridge magnet and people have streaked around the tower.if in Hawera go.

What a view ... and for such a nominal fee: thank you Hawera. It was great to see the landscape mapped out from this vantage point

Had to pay to enter the water tower, but the view from the top was worth it. Great bit of Hawera history

Hawera is a small farming and produce township in South Taranaki, and is usually just a stop off on the way to New Plymouth or Wellington. The water tower is 55 meters high and to gain access to the tower you must first visit the I-Site Information Centre beside the tower. On a good day you'll enjoy fantastic views of Mount Taranaki in the distance. Information leaflet explains the history of the structure, construction began in 1912 and was completed in 1914, and during 2002-2004 a $1.1million restoration project was undertaken, preserving the water tower for many decades to come and make this a defining landmark in South Taranaki.Open seven days a week 10am-2pm, admission charges are $2 adults, $1 children and $5 family group.

The water tower is decent enough. A trip up top is cheap and the views are great. There's a good chance you'll have it all to your self. Worth a quick visit.

Unfortunately it was a wet day when we visited, however the climb to the top was all inside and at the top we were able to escape the worst of the weather by going around to the sheltered side. Well worth the climb, and the photos and descriptions of the building and area were most interesting. Definitely recommend a visit.

Thoroughly enjoyed by our family. An awesome thing to do on a fine, clear day, the views are magnificent.

It was closed when we arrived - it's open from 10-2 or some such timing so make sure you go before lunch or you'll miss out! It looks like it would have been a good view from up there.

Quite amazing history surrounding this tower and set in nice surroundings, provides some great photo oportunities. We were really pleased that we stopped to check this out on our way to Taiwhiti Museum.
