such a classic old beauty, high on the hill ,overlooking the St.Lawrence River.extremely well maintained, with a very courteous staff.the only drawback is the food, that unfortunately, falls under the category of hotel dining, this is easily overcome by the many fine bistros located in the town. The real draw here,is the beautiful, peaceful, indoor and outdoor, pools and hot tubs.
Our main reason for visiting the Fairmont in Malbaie was to play Le Manoir Richelieu Golf Course - we were not disappointed. The course was in impeccable shape, the views from many holes were simply breathtaking, the course was a challenge, but still fun. We were up at the crack of dawn to play early but first to enjoy breakfast at the club house - it was fantastic. Being the only people there, we had amazing & friendly service. Between our little bit of French and their bits and pieces of English, everyone got along well and the service was so friendly; the food was delicious! We didn't see anyone else on the course for several holes, so we didn't feel rushed, and could take our time to enjoy the views. This is simply an amazing golf course, and if you love golf, beautiful views and great service, don't miss it when you're in Malbaie.
We loved this golf course, It was like a dream come true. All the sparkling water on almost every hole. The backdrop you cannot get a better one! The clubhouse is pretty looking over one of the longest holes and down to the river. We also went for breakfast the next morning to see the sun come up. It was an awesome view to awaken the senses...
Absolutely gorgeous views and accommodations. Golf course is in perfect condition and you are constantly distracted with the stunning views.Vreakfast at the clubhouse was not great, it was fantastic. So juch so, that on our day of departure we went back for more. If you have a bucket list for must golf courses, make sure this is on it.
My lovely wife and I stayed at this beautiful spot four nights in early August. We arrived early and our room was ready. We booked through the hotel site and got a great package with breakfast( buffet) and an upgraded room too for not that much more than the base room. The room was quite spacious with a huge extra sitting area and brunch ( with gluten free options too for my wife)were fabulous each day so again the upgrade was worthwhile. The pools were a bit small and getting chairs in the sun could be a challenge at certain times of the day. For the most part the staff spoke English but not everyone. My quick witted wife had to ask the desk help for foam pillows , and while pillows they understood, foam they didn't . "Pillow, no quack quack " did work though. And the foam pillows did arrive directly.Overall a great spot
The views, the pool, the staff make this a great place to spend 2-3 days. Golfers will be in heaven. Only bemol & frustration is that #fairmont still charges for internet! Suggest that you check the competition & adapt!
The view on the "St-Laurent" is just wonderful. Worth riding the golf cart just for the view! $150/ person to play, includes practice balls and water.
The views are extraordinary. The golf was very enjoyable. The course was challenging yet not too tough. A great day all around.
We played the 3 courses, St Laurent, Tadoussac, Richelieu. It was quite windy and we had a bit of drizzle , but we still played and enjoyed the courses. Green fees are $132.00 until 1pm and $99.00 after 1pm. for hotel guests. Be warned the greens are extremely difficult to read as they are very ondulated, typical mountain greens . The view on certain holes were spectacular, the 3 courses were in great condition. The fairways are manicured and well maintained. The StLaurent is a very nice and challenging course, The Tadoussac is the easiest of the 3 , the Richelieu had a lot of blind shots. I do recommend to play the courses, while vacationing , dont expect to break par though. The proshop was well equipped but very expensive. The restaurant at the club house served good breakfast but again pricey.
We enjoyed our 3 day stay at Le Manor. But be warned expensive. We wanted a lighter (less expensive) meal which we did get at their bar which overlooks the water. Service was excellent. The fitness and pool area was excellent and extensive. There is a large indoor and outdoor area. This is a must do activity. We enjoyed the live music in the Grand Hall one other night. The gardens were lovely to walk around. We had fun at the adjoining Casino and we are not gamblers. The rooms were very clean and quiet. The beds were very comfortable. There were house coats to wear to go down to the pool. This is a great area to stay in. There are easy day trips to shop, to eat and to go see whales. We did not golf but the mini putt looked like a ton of fun. Very much recommended and worth the extra money.
I heard so much talk about the golf course being highly rated. I must say the views when you are playing golf take your breath away. Beautiful scenery, especially if you are there on a clear sunny day you can see for miles down the valley. The golf course though I found to be quite dangerous. The holes were close together and the type of golfers that play resort courses are not always the most accurate off the tee. There were quite a few places that I felt nervous about getting hit by stray golf balls. Not an overly challenging layout, I guess you are there for the views. Been there done that.
Played the taddousac st Laurent combo. Taddousac a pitch and putt which starts with a par 3 and goes downhill from there. Not very interesting at all, just nine jammed in there to get more Green fee revenue. shame on you! St Laurent views magnificent and the course much more interesting and challenging. Stones and weeds in all the bunkers and un-repaired pitch marks on all the greens. Fault the greens crew for the bunkers and the hackers and lack of supervisions for poor green conditions. For the money one expects and deserves more
The views from this course are, as promised, spectacular. That said, the course is not particularly challenging (read that 'flat'). There are 27 holes which offers some variety. The greens were slow and the design is not up to today's quality designer courses. At the prices charged ($125), I had expected more.
The people here are soooooo nice and the view is spectacular! You can see the river from every hole and the course is professional-style. Watch out for those tricky greens!!! After your game you've got to relax in the clubhouse. Here, again, the view is unique.
This course is very well maintained. Nine of the holes are new withint he last 5-7 years. The course is well marked but challenging.
