The staff in the pro shop are very welcoming and the course is well kept and a short drive from Charlottetown.
The food we had was delicious but was very expensive. The service was wonderful. Our server certainly knew her job!
Have played this gem many times. The course is a great mix of generous fairways and challenging greens and always provides a challenging test for all levels of golfer. The pro shop and resaurant staff are friendly and helpful and the golf course in just ten minutes from the down town core!
I went on a week long golf trip to PEI and I knew that Fox Meadow had to be one of the courses we played. I was fortunate enough a few years ago during my studies at Holland College to play Fox Meadow a few dozen times. The course itself is great! The layout is awesome, there are a lot of risk/reward shots and the service is top notch. Some of the views are great, the practice facility is awesome and if you are thinking about lessons, Fox Academy looks like the place to go. Every time I visit the island, I will play Fox Meadow.
We golfed there a couple of weeks ago and although our scores could have been better, the course was immaculate. Nicely manicured fairways and greens without any blemishes. Offers a well thougt set of tee boxes to suit your handicap. Play the right ones for an enjoyable round. We did not have anything to eat there, but the deck of the clubhouse offers nice views of the driving range and the finishing hole.
I was here for a work event and teh staff were accommodating and the course was beautiful, depsite the cold and rainy day.
Last year, we ate at the golf course on several occasions, enjoying every morsel of our meals. The restaurant has changed names/menus/chefs this year, and I'm afraid the change is not for the better. My children and I went there for lunch a couple of weeks ago. The lone employee was far too busy to be able to offer good service. He definitely needed at least one more person to help out. The food was only fair. We shared an order of nachos, which while tasty, had very little cheese on them, and although we had ordered chicken nachos, there was no chicken to be seen. Given that there were no "wow" moments for us in terms of the menu, the portion sizes and the service, we are unlikely to return.
This is an awesome course located right in town. It's layout is perfect for the average golfer in that it has wide open fairways to exploit. In the 15th a fox swiped my ball, and rather than take it and drop it in the hole it buried it in the nearby forest. I got it back. When telling the story back at the clubhouse I was told that the same fox is known to steal cell phones from golf carts! The food at the clubhouse was terrific...especially the wings and the chowder. It is worth stopping here just for these. Friendly staff, great course, good food...cannot ask for more!
We were concluding a 3 night stay in the area and were looking for a restaurant out of the city; the restaurant at this gold club was recommended and we found it very nice. The dining room looks over the greens with nice large windows, and the background music was soothing, not loud, and pleasant to listen to while we dined. We were a bit early at 6p on a Tues and were immediately seated. Food was hot when brought to the table. Would definitely go there again.
As part of a golf package my Brother-in-law and I took to PEI included Fox Meadow. The course is less than 10 minutes from downtown Charlottetown so it is very easy to get to from your hotel. The hotel overlooks the city waterfront and is built into a housing community so some of the holes will have house lining the fairways. The afternoon we were there it was busy and the pace was slow but this can be expected for a very nice course so close to the heart of the city. This day there was a tournament so I think that help contribute to the slower pace. The holes offer a varying level of challenge but the greens were amongst the toughest I have ever played so if your putter is not working right for you it could lead to some higher scores. I recommend spending time on the putting greens over the range before the round to get a taste of how the greens will be out on the course. Overall there are plenty of courses on PEI that are just as good as if not better than Fox Meadow but this is one of the top courses that is very close to Charlottetown. This course will allow you to get 18 in and still have plenty of time to enjoy the other entertainment options in the area.
Once again we played this course in August. Despite the multitude of golf courses in PEI we always include this course in our annual visit to this beautiful province. It is challenging enough for our level of play but not terribly difficult. The course is well maintained and the surroundings are pleasant as are the staff. Particularly friendly and helpful were the young men driving the shuttles to and from the parking lots and the starter who were fine examples of Island hospitality. We golfed through the lunch hour so ordered sandwiches to go on the 9th hole. Not the best but satisfied our hunger. Another plus for this course is its proximity to Charlottetown and to the Wood Islands ferry terminal. We hope to again playing Fox Meadows next year and highly recommend it to others.
There are a resident fox or two who lurk in the trees next to the 17th and 18th fairways and delight in stealing golf balls and carrying them off to a secret hiding place in the woods. You never know whether you are going to be the next victim, but that's one of the charming features of this well maintained and challenging golf course. The staff is excellent and the restaurant is a real treat. The food is excellent and the lounge welcoming. There is a well staffed and well resourced golf academy on the premises for those of us who could benefit from professional instruction. The cost of golf and teaching is very reasonable.
Very scenic and interesting course with updated restaurant, stylish clubhouse. Great service, very classy
Played a morning round early Saturday July 14th. I called Friday afternoon and they told me to show up and they would get me on. I left the wife in the hotel to sleep late and arrived at 7:45AM in a taxi. The fare was $10 from town.I was anticipating popping in for an early morning breakfast before the tee but was dismayedto find the nice restaurant did not open till 11:00 AM. No muffins or rolls or toast. They did have coffee tho. If you are planning breakfast here you may want to call ahead and check the restaurant hours.I checked in and rented a really nice full set of Titlest AP1 irons and woods. Neither the greens fee nor the rentals were cheap, but then I was playing on a Saturday morning in high season, so that was expected. Outside was a medium sized range along with a nice practice putting green.I was soon off the first tee with a local high school player. He was a good golfer and like everyone else I met on PEI, a really nice guy. He gave me pointers along the waywhich definitely helped. This is like many courses where local knowledge will save you strokes,so don't hesitate to play with one of the regulars if you need an extra. The course was fun, in very good condition because of recent rains and not too difficult. I was on vacation so it fit the bill perfectly and was 30 miles closer than Crowbush. I shot a good score (for me) and went back to the hotel happy. I would not hesitate to play Fox Meadow again, especially if transportation and time are an issue.
It's a great course for those who visit Charlottetown on a cruise ship and want a golf game nearby. Beautiful views of the Charlottetown Harbour and a rolling green landscape, and you're not likely to lose a lot of balls because the fairways are wide and reasonable for the average golfer.Big bonus: Atlantic Lure restaurant is located in the clubhouse and it's one of the better eating spots on P.E.I. A pleasing round of golf on a nice course, and a good meal. Hard to beat it.
