Public Gardens (Spring Garden Rd)- Beautiful historic park with Victorian gardens and large duck ponds. Nice place for a stroll and an ice cream. They have an open band stand and usually someone playing on Saturdays/Sundays.
So much to see. Lovely to wander around, and changes often. So many different areas to explore and take in.
The Halifax Public Gardens are located on Spring Garden Road in the heart of the City of Halifax. The gardens are colorful and restful and include a large pond where ducks wander and a large bandstand with seating for entertainment. The area is shaded by beautiful old deciduous trees and filled with flowers, annuals, perennials, Hydrangeas, Rhododenrons and other shrubs. You can stroll through the gated gardens at your leisure or enjoy your packed lunch sitting on one of many strategically placed benches. It is wonderful to have such beautiful green space in the City center. The Gardens lost a large number of trees in Hurricane Juan I believe. Mother Nature's pruning has opened up some of the gardens to more sun. Staff have done such a good job of adjusting to this event that it is only noticeable to locals who regularly frequent the gardens. The Gardens are closed late fall and through winter. Entry is free. Enjoy a stroll through the winding paths of these beautiful English gardens. I am quite certain the gardens are wheelchair accessible. Pets not permitted.
Any visit to Halifax during the warmer months deserves a trip to the Halifax Public Gardens. Mature, exquisitely manicured grounds, yummy nibbly treats, and the aromatic scents of foliage in bloom make this enchanting garden space a must see.

Grab an ice cream and stroll around the pond. It's a lovely place to have lunch or just to enjoy a fine day in Halifax.
Beautiful park to go for a little stroll and enjoy nature. The flowers in the gardens are incredible and I make a point to take at least one visit to the park every August around my birthday (Aug 11) to enjoy the dahlias, which are usually in full bloom around this time. This also makes a nice stop if you are spending the day with your family as it has something for the kids (ice cream shop/giant geese, etc.) and adults. All around great destination in the heart of Halifax!
Excellent place to relax and take in the fresh air lots of different trees from around the world, has benches to sit and rest if you need it and has some venders selling food outside the park
