this has to be one of the best provincial parks in Ontario, The beach is long and clean, ,special beach area for dogs.nice trails,wonderful area to rest and enjoy nature,we camp here once a year

As you enter the park, the visitors center is a good stop with clean facilities. Some of the trails are reasonably short and not difficult with wonderful views & waterfalls. The Agawa Indian Craft stores just outside the park are excellent with very good prices.

One of our must stops while up visiting family in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. Beautiful beach. Great for flying a kite, having a picnic and relaxing.

at this time of year (September) the drive North along HWY 17 is beautiful. Stop at the side of the road often to take photos of the leaves and Lake Superior. If it is Friday, there is going to be a fish fry somewhere (like Batchewana) so watch for the signs.

An absolutely amazingly helpful park staff. Wonderful campsites, long nice very beach on Lake Superior. Activities for the youngsters at the theater as well as educational hikes. Good challenging hiking trails for the adults; Edmund Fitzgerald look out trail and another trail which name escapes me at the moment. Clean bathrooms and laundry. Since we were there during Canada Day we were invited to participate in the festivities even though we proudly displayed our Texas flag. We did have to use a fair amount of mosquito repellent during our stay. The campsites with a view of Lake Superior are the best. At the time of writing this review the button below does not allow me to pick the correct time of the visit therefore there is a discrepancy between the actual visit date (July 1, 2013) and the button date.

My family and I stayed 2 nights at Pancake Bay while on our way to Montreal. Awesome place for kids, they loved it! Beautiful crystal clear water with a very long sandy beach. Campsites are quite large, I would recommend the lakefront sites. Modern bathrooms/showers/laundry were very clean. Campground staff were very friendly! We would defiantly go back for a longer period if we had the chance!

We were planning a trip to Mackinac Island, and since we would be so close to Canada I went searching for a campgrounds nearby. I quickly saw Pancake Bay on my atlas so I got online and searched more. I was able to find a campsite left that had a view of the bay. We could hear the waves at night! The first night we stayed it rained and the next day the bay wasn't as clear to look out onto. But it was a good location and close to Lake Superior Park as well as close to our next site in Michigan. Vault toilets scattered around, as well as a few larger flush toilets/ shower house/ laundry facility. As to be expected with the rain the floor of the showers got pretty icky, but the water stayed warm once you had the shower on. More than I can say for Straits State Park- if 5 people were showering, you were going to be in cold water. Wood was for sale, although I think it was damp. Took a while to light it. Good people, lots of families. A lot of different sites for tents, campers, groups etc. We didn't explore the trails at the park, just the loop through the campgrounds and the beach a little.

Went to the Carver Trading Post for some smoked fish and ice cream! Great local artists' items for sale which is fabulous.

The beach at this Park is great. It goes on for miles [or kilometers]; sandy beach, fairly shallow and so by Lake Superior standards, reasonably warm. [Warm being a relative word for the Upper Great Lakes] Wonderful for families. And if you walk beyond the edge of Park [still on the beach], there is a place where dogs can swim and fetch. Perfect!

This is a great Provincial Park - stayed only one night on a road trip along Superior. The water is crystal clear (and cold!) and the beach is phenomenal - unlike any other in Ontario! The campground was well maintained, clean and accommodating (we did not reserve a spot, and switched the one they gave us, which they happily did!). The campsites are somewhat close together and extremely close to the highway (you can see the park from the highway!), but the beautiful beach and stars make the highway noise worth it. A nice place to stop on a road trip!

A gateway of sorts to Superior, this park is beautiful. Nice beach, great facilities and helpful staff. Would recommend a stop, and we'll be back to stay a night or more. Buy the day pass if you're just passing through. One fee covers all parks as you make your way down the highway. Great value.

We stopped here to explore a bit while on a road trip. We hiked a fairly short but interesting and beautiful trail, and were nearly devoured by mosquitoes. Even so, it ranks as one of the kids' favorite thinks we did on the trip. We especially liked seeing the insectivorous pitcher plants in the fen along the trail. Also along the trail were large, moss covered rocks which were actually most likely trolls. We spoke to a few of them, but they were feeling shy that day and they did not respond. The bay and beach were beautiful. Stop in if you get a chance.

Pancake Bay is a wonderful place to view and play in Lake Superior. It is very clean. Views of the shoreline are wonderful! The water is so clear you can see all the way to the bottom in most spots. We enjoyed this park the most!

Good signage and easy to find off the highway, clean beach and very clean water, lots of places for a picnic and generally very clean site

The park was very easy to find off the hwy. Lots of signage. We were greeting by a park member who directed us to check in, which went smoothly and quickly. Site - Our site was 372, right across the road and 50 feet from Lake Superior. There was a trail down to the sandy beach through natural grasses. Our site was well laid out on dirt and pine needles. It was close to the outhouse, water tap, and a short drive to the comfort station. Fairly private and quiet campground with the sound of the lake crashing on the shore to lull you to sleep. Mostly couples over 40. Not many young children tho there was a small playground over by the comfort station for them to play.Outhouses - have sinks and tap for washing and no flush toilets. We found that during our stay of 3 nights, the outhouse had not been cleaned at all and there were no trash cans in the stalls.Trail - The hiking trail was somewhat scenic but tons of mosquitoes. Took us about 45 mins. Well marked but no numbers on the posts indicating where exactly you were compared to the map. The Agawa store is worth a visit. Lots of stuff to look at and reasonably priced. Check it out. There ice cream is good too!Beach - Beach was nice but grassy with about 2 feet of sand meeting the water. Good for walks. Went kayaking but watch for wind changes and incoming weather because it can turn from a pleasant paddle to a challenging one in 5 minutes. Water was cold but tolerable.The front office has firewood but no ice - go to Awaga for that or pick it up at a grocery store along the way.All in all, great place to visit, quiet, people are really nice, very good security all day and night via truck and on foot. You will be safe and feel at home here.Have a great time!
