Just enough charming little shoppes to pick up those mandatory gifts for friends and family. Just try to avoid days when the cruise ships are in because their jitneys drop hoards into this little hamlet and it becomes a bit insane.
Very unfortunate that this area is so nice but serviced by a poorly managed marina. The woman working the guest desk was hopeless. We first came ashore in the Dinghy to do some recon, only to have her send us away to hail the dock crew. Upon checking us in she sent us away to get a credit card only to find out when we returned that she had sufficient information based on what we faxed. That we knew. Frustrating. Finally the shower and restrooms are among the most disgusting I have experienced during my years of sailing. Showers that require tokens only to deliver cold water. A single nasty toilet with no lock on the door. No hand soap and an air dryer that didn't work. I ended up using the head on the boat. Marina aside there is plenty of shopping and good restaurants.
Plenty of mooring choices. Very busy. Easy aces to fuel and water. Loads of dining and shopping choices. Not laid back but very nice
Soper's Hole is almost a fully-featured marina like Nanny Cay. The grocery store is excellent, one of the best without having to go into downtown Road Town. The restaurant is a Pusser's Landing chain and the food is standard fare and island-priced but not out of line. The barkeeps and wait staff are very good at what they do, but get overwhelmed sometimes when the cruise ship excursions arrive causing some wait times. Island-time aside, be prepared if it's busy to have a good conversation between visits from the wait staff. The shopping is cruise-terminal style, a row of shops with souvenirs, spices, clothing, gifts and a dive shop. Near the end of the marina is Scaramouche, quite a different bar and restaurant from anything else we've found in the BVI. Great wines, great Italian and great staff. Fish-n-Lime bar and restaurant is across the harbor and is a long walk, short cab or dingy ride to some great atmosphere, good service and good bar food. A 15 minute walk will take you to Frenchman's Cay. Wonderful place to explore with stunning views of the channel and other islands. The bar and restaurant there a 5 stars all the way. We have spent several days on several occasions on a mooring ball in the harbor and have come to really enjoy our visits in this well protected harbor. I wish they had: an ATM, a laundry facility, cheaper cab fares, more dinghy space, nicer restrooms and a chandlery.
This was one of my favorite stops in BVI. The charm of the "village" alone makes it worth the trip. The stores are all painted in Caribbean colors and makes one smile seeing it. There is good shopping (probably the best of all the stops we checked out, so if you find you need something, they probably have it), a great market and it is fun to watch the boats coming and going. We were there for a couple of hours, but glad to have stopped to check it out.
We came as part of an island excursion and this was the highlight of the trip. Approaching Sopers Hole from the sea is dramatic and once inside the harbour there is loads to see with lots going on both on the water and on land. Pussers landing is a buzzy place with lots of shops, bars and restaurants. We whiled away time, with the wife in and out of shops and me just looking at what was going on in the harbour. We were both very happy. The British Virgin Islands are absolutely lovely with proper caribbean beaches and harbours like this one where it is possible to sit with a rum punch and watch people and sites without a care in the world. A bit of paradise.
A real busy harbour where boats and sailing boats are coming and going all day. A buzzy place with a great breakfast place, Pussers resturant and of course a good supermarket.
Best spot for seeing large yachts, and large private sailboats. It is one of the few places on the island to shop. A variety of spice shops, clothing, features Pusser's Shop....fine sailing clothing, smart dress clothing, and of course world famous Pusser's Rum and rum cakes.
With a nice tropical marina to see, a place for lunch and a little shopping, Soper's Hole is a great spot to spend a couple hours.
Caters to the sailing crowd, but the scenery is worth stopping by, having a drink/snack and a little shopping. Provisions can be purchased in a very nice store.
Convenient market, protected mooring spot, fuel, Pusser's--good American menu. Many of the conveniences of home (spa). Pretty shopping area.
Great place to clear customs, get a good meal and do last minute shopping for your sailtrip. The grocery and deli are always well stocked, the marina personel are always helpful and this last time there was live music at Pusser's...
A picturesque and bustling harbor with ferries and private yachts as well as charter boats. Good restaurants, like D'Best Cup, Pussers, and the hidden gem in Harbour Market: the deli on the second floor is the best lunch deal on island: for $4.50 to 6.50 you get a foot long sub (white or multi grain) with yummy meats, cheeses, and veggies. There are also a number of boutiques selling clothing, souvenirs, and Sunny Caribee spice shop like the one in Road Town. Worth a visit. Parking can be a problem when the cruise ship(s) are in.
Our bareboat charter of 13 persons grabbed a mooring ball and dingyed up to the dock. The areas is quaint and beautiful with the many Caribbean color painted buildings. We wanted to do a bit of shopping and this seemed to offer up a great place to do it. There were a few shops that offered up the local touristy stuff and the Spice shop, which offers many great items. The disappointment was that the majority of shops offered a lot of what we see at home in the US and more expensively showcased. We were looking for local items to take back as Christmas gifts and didn't buy as much as we had planned. Overall, the area was well worth the stop as it was beautiful and very laid back and comfortable.
Came here at the end of our last week of a 2 week sailing trip.We bought some nice fresh bread at the Market.Painkiller at Pussers.Yumm.Lots of shopping in the little shops.Been here few timescale in the past...Never disappoints .
