Lovely beach right by the Marriott. Clean and well maintained with chairs and umbrellas. Gentle waves. Perfect place to spend the morning.
Since we were staying at the Marriott, we used this beach to do our morning boogie boarding, or as we called it, morning water aerobics! Now, the waves are small, but with the scenery, it didn't matter. We loved this beach, and there are two restaurants on wither side so there is plenty to eat/drink.
In 2014, we were recommended this beach by local diving tour person and couldn't be happier with the beach. Taxi drop off is in front of the hotel. There is a little general store and bar at the back side of the hotel. Water and beach are very clean. Just revisited again in 2015. Hotel charged us $10 per chair this time. Look at the corner gutter of the bar facing the beach!!
You don't have to be a guest to enjoy this hotel beach. It almost always has waves that are the perfect size for our son to boogie board. Park at the bottom of the hill and rent boards at the kiosk midway down beach (we have our own but I think they are $7 for the afternoon). The restaurant next to the pool has great appetizers, the nachos are good enough to share for a lite lunch. Its easy for a quick afternoon outing or when you just have a few hours and you want someone to bring you a drink on the beach while your kids rock the waves! You can easily get a taxi to bring you here and pick you up at a designated time.
Walk after dinner at Havana Blue was heaven! Morningstar has volleyball, kayaks, great food at beach bar called Sand Bar too!
Be sure to pay for renting the lounge chairs if you are not a hotel guest. Great sandy bottom with slight shore break. Great view of cruise ships as they enter/exit the harbor. Fun place for the family and short ride from the port. Hint: ship crew go there, so should you.
We stayed at Morning Star so this was our view. It was lovely and the water was great. They have everything you need. Snorkel gear, food and drinks are right there. Jet skis at one end that you don't really see if you don't know they are there along with kayaks that you can rent.
I ended up here with a friend during a cruise stopover. At first we were worried about finding a decent beach to laze about on for the afternoon, but were so happy we found this spot! It was actually suggested to us by a local. Just a short cab ride from the port, this paradise was located at the Marriott Beach Resort. It was great that it was not reserved only for guests of the hotel. My friend and I were sure we would have to pay an entry fee, especially because we were not staying at the resort, but nope – everything was free, even the lounge chairs! We had such a relaxing afternoon. The water was warm and beautiful. Smooth, white sand and very clean. We practically had the beach to ourselves. I hope I have another chance to go back to Morningstar!
This beach if right off the Marriott property. It has the feel of a private beach despite being public.
This beach is clean - has chairs and umbrellas - great views of the boats going in and out - plus a fun restaurant Coco Joes with great food. We went to Trunk Bay/St. John and the beach was crowded, dirty and very small - no chairs - u had to pay $8 for them plus a $25 deposit. Lot's of ants too.
This beach lies on the Marriott property. It is super well kept. But I would caution parents with children, the dropoff is quick and the waves can get kind of rough
We stopped here based on a few local suggestions since we didn't have a lot of time. This is a nice small beach located about 10 minutes from cruise terminal. Water was gorgeous and the waves were so much fun. It wasn't too crowded and taxi were ready available to go back into town.
beautiful uncrowded beach. Clean warm water. Great views. Waves were huge so not at all a good beach for anyone who is not a good swimmer and not afraid of being knocked down. If you swim beyond where they break on the shore, the water is flat.
Morningstar Beach would be lovely without all the people from the two Marriott properties plus the cruise ship visitors. Plenty of services but wall to wall people. Decent snorkeling along the rocks at the east end of the beach if the waves are not too rough but there are better options in the USVI.
Not enough chairs/umbrellas to allow public access. Water too rough to snorkel, not many fish to see.
