It is an excellent choice for having fun and relax. The way to get to El Salto it's amazing. You can do walking or by horse. It's also a good idea to go with a guide because most of them are very funny and they use to give very good information about the place. We'll repeat it on our anniversary next year.

The waterfall itself is fun, i have seen better but swimming in cold refreshing water is always nice. The horse ride is indeed a bit different as the path is narrow but the horses and the guides know them very well so our 2 7 years old were in my view never at risk. Of course the guides will ask you for extra money down the way despite the ranch operator promising all was paid for. I am totally ashamed when i read review talking about the horses condition...anyone noticed that the guides included as well a 60 years old women and a 10 years old boy walking you up and down??? They love their horses, they care about your security, they built an attraction with nothing...do you expect disney? If so, stay home. If not, get out of your comfort zone, help the local economy and enjoy the ride and leave all the pesos you can here! My 10000 pesos included the horse ride, food ( simple but delicious) and extra tipping for a family of 6... Would i have known that they also were selling art i would have carried more cash but plastic there as usual in DR does not work...

you take a coach then you go on a 75 minute horse/pony ride easy you think NO you go down steep paths hanging on for dear life then you walk down 260 steps to the bottom to a nice waterfall then walk up again knackering than get on the horse again for an hour then get off and walk like john wayne for the rest of your holiday

Horse farm and waterfalls was a great adventure loved it ! Waterfalls was so cool and refreshing to swim in.

Santi and his family are great people. We stayed in their rancho for two nights and did two excursions: Limon waterfalls and Haitises National Park. The first one was by foot. Most of the people decide to do it riding a horse but our opinion is that you enjoy more walking through the mountains instead of being nervous upon the horse and. It took around one hour and a half to get to the Limon waterfalls, very nice place and surroundings. The way until there is relaxing, you can enjoy the trees and the sound of the animals. Don’t forget your swimsuit and most important go early because if you delay your visit you will coincide with lots of tourists!! One recommendation: if you are going to do it by foot do the excursion for yourself, so you can go on your own pace and stop wherever you want, without a guide hurrying you up. You can perfectly do yourself because there are several paths from the road to get to the waterfall and they are all signalized. Moreover, be careful with the local guides who will try to trick you with the money and what is included in the price.Anyway, if you do it on your own, you definitely must have lunch in Santi’s rancho (included in the price of the excursion if you decide to do it). We enjoyed a typical Dominican food for lunch: criollo chicken with fried banana, delicious octopus. All garnished with boiled rice and beans soup.The Haitises National Park excursion was spectacular. The journey started early, first Santi drove us to the Samana Port where we took a small boat but a fast one, very comfortable up to 12 people approximately. In our excursion we were 6 tourits, Santi, the captain of the boat and the kind local guide. It took around 1 hour to get to the National Park. At the park we visited the beautiful islets full of pelicans and with caves inside and the mangroves. Inside the immense caves we saw different formations and several taino paintings engraved on the rocks. Maybe one of the most amazing things was to see how the roots of a local tree have been able to pass through the rocks. The next stop was the marvelous Cayo Levantado, a small delightful island. Cayo Levantado has a small beach surrounded by coconut palms with crystalline and turquoise water. We had free time before and after having lunch, a time for taking a bath, wandering or tasting the best piña colada we have ever had. The food was delicious, one grilled fish by person with salad, rice and fried banana. During the excursion we could drink water, refreshes and rum, delicious rum in the Caribbean. Our last stop after the paradise island was the infinity pool of a hotel in Samana. The perfect end for an unforgettable day: having a cocktail and relaxing.In short, the excursion was perfectly organised and we enjoyed every moment with Santi and the local guide. The price of the excursion was one of the cheapest we found, so having into account how the journey was and the things included in the price, we can say we chose the ideal option. We strongly recommend doing this excursion with Santi.

No worth the money. Cann't see anything in the caves, Lunch was not much at all, Way tooooo much time spent pounding around in the middle of the ocean

We went on a trip to El Limon waterfalls as an excursion. While the falls was beautiful and the horses we were on were excellent, we felt sorry for them. They are all in a row and although the horses were following one another, the guides that take you kept smacking the horses - not hard enough to hurt, but to make them jolt a little. The path that they take is also very rocky and slippery and the horse would stumble once in awhile. Half way back, the guides stopped us and demanded a tip, stating the tour company does not pay them. We had to argue back on the trail for 10 minutes before they let us continue. We were not happy with this at all. As well, when we were at the falls, so many other people came, that it quickly became too crowded and you couldn't move. They should only allow so many people in and out for crowd control. Not worth the money or aggravation to go.

This place is a ultra beautifull ,the view and the travel experience is outstanding.You have to rent a horse to down the mountain and then see the water cascade.

The horse ride was very good, going over steep terrain to the waterfall. The horses (and the guide with the horse) had to work very hard to get us there. The waterfall itself was impressive but ultimately a bit of a let down. Definitely worth it though for the horse trek (no riding skills required). Most of the horses were provided by volunteers but every horse came with a volunteer to ensure a safe ride to the waterfall. These volunteers are not paid and rely solely on tips from the touris. We were not that well informed about this and regretted this. Seeing that the walk to and from was quite arduous, I think they deserve a good tip. Especially having seen that most of the volunteers are poor.

Deep into the rainforest, this waterfall is a diamond of nature, cristal water and great place to swim.

We were sent to Chez Santi in El Limon, the restaurant outpost for Santi Rancho for our excursion to El Limon - the must see waterfall on the Samana Peninsula. Santi is a warm and welcoming (and english speaking) host. He arranged a guide for us to El Limon waterfall, and we had a delicious lunch afterwards at Chez Santi. He kindly accommodated our request to walk to the falls as opposed to riding on a horse for most of the trek. This was fun for us but it is a strenuous walk, only recommended for those in good physical condition.While on our trek, I saw that many other tour groups were led by young children, and I really appreciate the fact that Santi does not use child labor. The meal we had after our adventure was delicious, especially after the long hike. I highly recommend making arrangements to visit El Limon through Santi Rancho. There are many "tour guides" in the area as you approach El Limon, and I suggest that you go only with a reputable establishment like this one.

Fun! Nice way to meet the locals and enjoy a traditional Dominican meal.

I recommend Santi (Rancho Santi) not only for the wonderful food but attention to whatever you may need. I went with my mother and sisters (all adults) and went horseback with two delightful young guides. We had a great time our group was just us which I loved. We stayed at the ranch, which if you know that it is truly just basic accommodations (no tv, air conditioning, bathroom outside) you'll be fine. I thought it was very quaint and nicely kept. The price is very reasonable. We paid 21 USD for a horseback hike (2 hours) plus over an hour at the waterfall and included lunch. The food at their restaurant was very good as well. I would go back with my own family. The view is spectacular!

Hice una excursion desde Punta Cana a Samana en avion. Ya de por si es espectacular ver Domincana desde arriba. El avion es a elice, parece un taxi chiquito y te llevan hasta puerto plata, de ahi tomas un camion altimismo y te llevan a ver como hacen el chocolate en casitas del lugar (muy humilde la zona y el lugar). La excursion es como la relatan algunos viajeros. El camino lo haces a caballo, te dan una botas de lluvia porque hay mucho lodo ( te recomiendo lleves tus medias) la subida es dificultosa , pero el entorno y la cascada es muy linda. Coincido que si podes hacerlo solo para poder estar sin el malon de turistas seria lo mejor. Yo me tome mi tiempo ( estas siempre con un chico que te ayuda con el caballlo), me bañe ( es fria el agua!). Por lo que comentaron en este lugar filmaron unas escenas de Jurasik Park. La selva y la vegetacion es impresionante.

Quién no conoce a Santi?Antes de dejar España ya nos hablaron de él. Cuando llegamos a Las Terrenas el primer día salimos a dar un paseo para situarnos y la casualidad hizo que conociéramos a otros españoles instalados en la República Dominicana que nos volvieron a mentar a Santi. Le contactamos y podemos decir que se quedaron cortos. No sólo se trata de una persona profesional y seria en todos los servicios que ofrece sino que ganamos un amigo. Contratamos la excursión de Limón y ese día comimos a la vuelta en su restaurante comida tradicional dominicana hecha por las manos de su mujer Sunny y degustamos también el famoso licor "mamajuana". Los orígenes asturianos de Santi se respiran en todo... buena comida y cordialidad como buen asturiano a pesar de llevar en Limón casi 20 años. Otro día fuimos a conocer la península de Samaná... Sta Bárbara, el Cabito, el Mirador de las Ballenas, Playa Rincón y un final espectacular... baño viendo atardecer en la piscina infinity del Café del Mar. Qué más se puede pedir?...Quisimos ir a avistar ballenas pero Santi nos advirtió que era muy pronto para garantizar verlas. Otros vendían la excursión y él nos aconsejó dejarlo para otra ocasión que pudiéramos venir en febrero. Me gustaría agradecer desde aquí todo lo que disfrutamos esos días. Fuimos testigos de otros españoles que le visitaban año tras año, ya como amigo. Ese es Santi!!!Cristina
