The ecological park is a free shuttle ride away from the Westin and other hotels in the area. You set out along a hiking-type path from the main gates and get to enjoy the nature and trees. There are a few lagoons that you can swim in as well as a few just to look at. The lagoons are beautiful and clear water. There are fish and turtles in various ones. I would definitely recommend coming here during your vacation.

If you stay with Westing its free (Im not sure of other hotels) Its an easy trail to walk and the Lagoon is a must! Photos don't do it justice. Clear water you can see all the way through, water is cold but very bearable.

This point is the secret best keep in Punta Cana Resort. Its public, but you must pay for enjoy it. The pictures are perfect here. Best time for go is between 11 am to 2 pm for the sun light. The color of the water change with the natural light. Its perfect for go in family and with friends. Are deep, you need know swim.

The place is amazing!!! There is 12 water lagoons and in 3 of them you can swim. Water is crystal clear, and quite deep, so you can jump there from a special bench:) Thing is we did it without a tour and it was extraordinary, because we had all lakes for ourself.We met only 2 other families in the forest and we spent there around 4 hours. When we headed back to the car we met a tour. There were around 20 people!!!! I can imagine how crowded it was inside the lagoons later. If you want to do it yourself you need to write to the park manager in order to be let in!I found email adress in the net - it is mutmatias@gmail.com.You need to confirm the date with them!The best thing is to come in the morning. Forest is open from 8,30 and most ot the tours come later aroun 1pm. Tickets are expensive it is 25 USD for adult, but kids 0-6 years old do not need a ticket, for older kids it is 12 USD, still it is much cheaper than a tour:)Take some food with you, beverages and moskito spray.You can get there by taxi from bavaro/punta cana area (around 35 USD ) but it is better to rent a car! And driving in Bavaro is really safe!!!! The roads are good and not crowded outside the cities.

Amazing natural pools, two of which have small decks with ladders. Longer walk than you think to get to the good ones though - and take a towel!

Stayed at nearby Tortuga Bay and biked to the park. Bathrooms, which are clean, are available at the park entrance. The forest trails and gardens a well maintained. Cool, crystal clear water lagoons were refreshing and a nice alternative to the beach. We spent 1/2 day there, towels are a must.

Going to the park was one part of the trip it was short and not allot to see the other part was going to a local school to visit the students and see what they do. The resort gave us a bag of treats for us to give each student. That alone was the best part of the trip and the last part shopping it was ok nothing great to see or buy. I would skip the park and shopping but would go back to see the school kids they were great. I was surprised seeing the kids go wild over an apple until I found out they never get apples because they are imported and cost too much for them to buy. We all had our pictures taken with them making the short trip worth while. There is a $2.00 fee to walk through the park I would pay the $2.00 and skip the short walk really nothing to see.

Enjoyed the trails and the lagoons. Swimming in the lagoon and diving seemed exciting. Did not follow the trail all the way to the beach since we had to catch the shuttle back. Mosquito repellent at $10 not really necessary ...at least for us.

We made our own way here and had a great day. We had already asked the guy on reception and he told us to wear good shoes, no sun shoes and watch the mosquitoes. Walking through some trees the trail began only to stop at a lagoon around fifteen minutes in, we cooled off, it was so romantic, no one about either. It did get a bit steep but so worth it. A day that is one of my best memories.

We really enjoyed this side trip. It was purely a “self-guided tour” of Indigenous Eyes. We took a taxi from our resort in Bavaro, bought entrance to the park, and spent about 4 hours strolling, taking pictures, and swimming in the lagoons. There were only 3 other families on the walking trails, at that time. This was perhaps the best part, because it was nice to get away from the crowds at the resort, and enjoy the solitude and beauty. And we never felt like we were in a rush.We opted to leave after the hike and swim. There are other areas in the park that we did not see, including the fruit garden and the animal petting area. The folks at the Segway tour provided us with a map and gave us directions to walk to that area, but we decided to do it next time.Tips and details – Total cost for 3 people to do this tour, on their own, is $145 (including transportation from the resort and entrance).The taxi from the Now Larimar Resort – is a 30 min ride and $35 each way for 3 people ($70 round trip). The taxi driver got a little lost - so make sure he knows exactly where he's taking you - I brought a brochure, that I downloaded from the park website, and that helped. I also got the taxi drivers cell number, so we could call him when we were done with our hike. This was very helpful, because there’s no street traffic, back in the park area, and you’re not likely to see any taxis. If for some reason, he was not able to come back, we would have asked the Segway tour folks to call a taxi for us. I don’t think this would have been a problem at all. But it was nice to have our own taxi driver, who knew exactly where we were, and where we needed to go when we were done. He was very interested in coming back to get us, so this was a win-win situation.You buy your park entrance bracelet at the Segway tour bldg. Self-guided tour is $25 per person. The folks at the Segway tour seemed to also be in charge of the park office. They were very nice and helpful. The Segway bldg had nice clean bathrooms and was a very comfortable stop. The Segway tour looked cool and they appeared to have very nice gear. We did not do the Segway tour, but based on what I saw, it looked like it was very nicely organized. They also have snacks, bottled water, souvenirs, soda, and beer at the Segway shop. It was a nice place to hang out and have a drink and snack, although it was expensive ($5 for a beer) and $8 for a large can of Pringles. So be prepared with some extra cash.For the hike and swim, bring comfortable sandals and wear your swim suit. We brought a small backpack with two bottles of water and snacks. We also brought a beach bag with our cell phones, an slr camera, a waterproof camera, towels, and our masks and snorkels. We used all of these things extensively. And we never felt like anything was going to get stolen. Each swimming lagoon has a nice dry platform with benches and steps leading into the water. We’re so glad that we brought our masks and snorkels as the lagoons were fantastic for this. Even if you only have goggles – we recommend that you bring them. There are schools of fish in each lagoon, and we saw several turtles, and a very cool duck that swam with us. The water is a little chilly, but after 60 seconds, you’re fine. My 14 year old daughter and my wife swam in each pool for 10 to 20 mins each. We had a blast and we do recommend this tour. So we did this tour on a Tuesday. We started at 9:30 am with a 30 min taxi ride –and we left the park at about 2pm with another 30 min taxi ride. 5 hours total round trip from our resort lobby. Beforehand, I did reach out to Indigenous Eyes via email and they answered all my questions promptly. basesegway@gmail.com. If we had done the guided tour, the benefit would have been a tour guide with knowledge of the park, flora and fauna. The disadvantage would have been a shuttle bus that may have stopped at other resorts along the way – thus taking longer to get to and from the park, and a shorter – 2 hour tour that is led by and guide rather than the flexibility that we had on our 4 hour self-guided tour. In addition, the guided tour would have cost about $50 more total ($195). So we think it worked out very well and we do recommend a self-guided tour for those who are comfortable stepping out on their own.

Deep cenote and not for those that cannot climb down steep rock stairs. Took photos on top area. Saw cenotes in Mexico.Careful of vendors selling wired rings that are not solid silver. If you never saw a cenote before good one to seeLila

I think you refer to the Tres Ojos Park--limestone sinkhole in ground with 3 small lakes near bottom. Interesting walk down. Then we took walking tour of old colonial city--worthwhile.

Stayed at hotel within the PuntaCana Resort so we were able to take shuttle and get in for free. After getting wristband, we were given a small map indicating path and lagoons for swimming. After 15 minute walk through the woods along path covered with roots, we reached the first and best lagoon. It was big and had large landing with steps. Large white duck in the area as well as family of turtles in the water. Water was very clean and refreshing. Also platform for jumping into the water. This was the best lagoon. THe second was shallow and filled with fish - not conducive to swimming. The third lagoon was OK. Not was clear since lots of trees hanging over. But lots of small shrimp seen near the rocks. Overall. nice place to visit. However, not sure I would pay the supposed $25 for entry if not staying within the resort.

Interesting nature walk for a change of pace. Be prepared with comfortable walking shoes and mosquito repellent. Depending on pace 30-45 min walks are rewarded with some nice scenery and a few nice swimmable lagoons...and even the sea and a beach at the very end. Saw some sea turtle nesting sites there.Signage and map is somewhat confusing...especially if venturing on your own.
