If you're visiting Bequia then Lower Bay beach is a must. It's quiet, unspoilt and probably the best beach on Bequia. You might be asked to pay $EC15 for a sun lounger but the views and beach are well woth it.

Far preferable to the over-hyped and over-busy Princess Margaret Beach next door, Lower Bay is quiet and comfortable, with several inexpensive beach cafes behind it. There is shade under trees when you need it, the sand is golden and the swimming is good, with snorkelling at either end. You can walk there from Port Elizabeth along the Belmont shoreline to Princess Margaret and then over the headland, but the open-air taxis are quick and fun. Better still, make Lower Bay your base on Bequia and stay there.

A nice long uncluttered beach that is very inviting to swim in. It is on the lower western side of the island.

Lower bay is a very quiet long golden beach. The main bar "De Reef' serves all the things you could possibly want. Delicious fresh food ! Very easy to get there by water taxi if your in the harbour otherwise local taxis. Very enjoyable to stay there all day.

We only made our way to Lower Bay a few times and every time it was extremely windy. The beach had quite a slope to it which made it a little difficult to lay on without renting a chair. Spent a fun Sunday afternoon at DeReef however enjoying lunch and a few beverages.

One of the nicest beaches on Bequia. Good snorkeling and swimming. Dotted about are a few seaside bars serving good food and beverages. There is also a coffee shop and local store for supplies. Worth a visit.

Lower Bay beach is longer than Princess Margaret beach, and if you would like to easily access it from there, they have built a new trail leading from one to the other, at the very end of Princess Margaret beach up a steep hill. I found Lower Bay to be a larger and longer beach, but much the same as Princess Margaret, although it has more amenities - several bars/restaurants, and quite a few locals renting loungers. Sil has the best price at 10 EC per lounger.Be aware of the manchineel trees - don't shelter under them in case of an often passing afternoon shower. They are marked with signs, so you'll know which ones they are.The beach is easily reached by the Lower bay road (there is a sign marked which leads to it), as well if you don't feel up to walking, there are many vans and taxis available. We haven't had any problems with theft (knock on wood!), but we don't take any valuables other than towels and I tend to take along my snorkel equipment if we are venturing too far away from our towels/loungers.The water is crystal clear, and there are fewer boats here in comparison to Princess Margaret beach, although I prefer the solitude of that beach, and the intimate feeling compared to Lower Bay. Both are very similar, being located right next to each other.

This beach is beautiful, and not crowded. A great place for a swim. Have heard from some people in the area there is a young girl and her family are known for theft from the tourists, while I've never had any issues, don't take any valuables or keep them on you.

Not that much different than Princess Margaret Beach, but many more options available for food and drink. Restaurants include La Plage, Keegans, Da Reef and Dawns. Beach loungers available for rent from most but I think Keegans was the least expensive....about $5 USD. It is the furthest beach from Port Elizabeth, about 2.5 miles, which includes some hill walking. Taxi's are readily available all over the place.

Absolutely pristine location. I was ecstatic that I could eat tamarind right off the tree. #islandlife

After what seemed like a mammoth hike in 35 degree heat this beach definitely lived up to expectations. The beach was well kept and clean and the water a beautiful clear blue. It is very good for snorkeling but you do have to swim out quite far. There are also a number of restaurants (only one of which was open as August is out of season) and the food as always was excellent.

Very few people, we were there for 3 weeks before Christmas Holidays stared and had the beach almost to ourselves every day. Wonderfully warm water, little waves, beautiful pale golden sand and some rocks for snorkeling here and there. A few nice bars if you get thirsty or need a washroom but plenty of completely quiet and scenic spots were you can nap or just take in the view. Beautiful

Beautiful! I just love the water. Clear you can see everything in the water. The people here are very frendly

Best beach on Bequia in my opinion. Long golden sandy beach with a few bars and restaurants across the road. The water is clear, calm and warm.
