Great place to go snorkel or join the dive school and get certified. Lovely beach with nice amenities. Dinner is very good and their barbeque and live music is right up there with Nisbet Plantation's. Tuesdays at Oualie and Thursdays at Nisbet.

We were very disapointed in this beach. My daugher was swimming around with goggles on and came up with lots of trash, plastic bags, bottles, etc...not clean at all. Additionally we purchsed about 100.00 (us) worth of food and drinks (plus tip) from the restaurant and they acted like it was very inconvient to have patrons there. We were also the only customers so it wasn't like there was a huge rush. It's sad, because it could be so nice. Feels like a dirty ghost town beach.

Calm clean blue waters and sallow sandy beach await you. If you eat at the restaurant you can use their chairs to lounge on. Beautiful view of Saint Kitts and a good spot for watching the sunset.

Good beach for boozing, by the looks of it. Ferry to St. Kitts comes in here, water sports centre. Central location.

This resort is charming with a1950s feel. Not that I was around then. We stopped in for breakfast one morning in an open sir restaurant. Good food and very friendly service, overlooking the beach.

Oualie Beach restaurant and resort has an old and tired atmosphere. Lunch at their open-air restaurant was o.k. and convenient. Service was on "island time." No need to rush back. The beach was relatively shallow and protected--good for families with young children. If the sea is calm and clear, snorkeling out to the rocky point (marked by S&N flag) at the north-end is nice. However, Nevis doesn't have extensive reef formations, so snorkeling offshore is generally unspectacular.

This is a gem of a beach location for any resort but clearly the staff and owners couldn't care less. 45 minutes before any bar person bothered to come and see if we would like a drink, snacks and food again very poor, service abysmal.

Oualie is a true friendly place...it is not for those that want snooty pampering, it is a calm, refreshing place that does know how to ptlay for happy hour and knows how to make true friends...True peace...

Staff not so happy or helpful.. Although these cottages were so quaint and sweet, we did not stay here and visited 3x or more over the 2 weeks we were there. We like that we could eat lunch, and buy drinks etc. since we were staying at a Property however nice, did not have an open restuarant or beach services available. The views here were tremendous and it really has a nice island feel.. quiet again but active. Boats and other activities were close by.

We read the good reviews on Tripadvisor and felt this resort would be a pleasant place to stay. We flew in after 7at night and when we came to reception we felt that the young lady on reception resented our intrusion on her computer time. When we got to our room we were very disappointed with the decor and the fact that very few of the amenities in the room were in working order. The phone was broken, the safe didn't work, there was no hot water, one of the beds is in danger of collapse etc. not what we were expecting from reviews and pictures. The food in the restaurant is poor, expensive and painfully slow considering how limited the menu is in the evenings. I advise folks to eat elsewhere if possible. We would definitely rent a car if we returned to the island. We love small, low key hotels and readily accept shabbiness as part of island living - it is so expensive to import new furniture, food etc. the problem here is that they are offering guests tired rooms at smart room prices (although, we fully understand, not the prices charged at The Plantation or Four Seasons.)The location is beautiful. The beach is excellent and the grounds better maintained than the rooms. The staff over all are friendly and polite as are all the people we have met on the island.Nevis is a beautiful island steeped in history. It has largely been untouched by bad development and the people here are very proud of their heritage. We feel so fortunate to have visited the island in its unspoiled state. We hope to return but not to this resort.

The water is calm here and it is shallow far out into the water (knee-level for an adult maybe about 15-20 feet out). It's a sandy beach nice for playing children as well.

Great place for food and beach. Nice Cabins that are well kept and very romantic. Very relaxing and quiet.

The rooms are great... They are well kitted out and the resort has a lovely charm to it. It is perched on the beach with fabulous views of the bay and other islands. Pat on reception is a great asset however the service in the restaurant is not good and food is ok.. You really need to venture out but there are plenty of places close by.... I would come back though.

I would recommend for a visit and apparently - although the breakfast and dinners are gross - the lunches at Oualie Beach resort aren't too bad

We were here in St. Kitts in 2012 and wanted to see Nevis this time. I know; taking a cruise ship to an island, just to get on another boat and go to a different island. Crazy, right? So once again we scoured Trip Advisor and post in Cruise Critic to find a good way to get to Nevis. RCI offered a trip there but it was an all-day thing and we wanted only a half day trip to Nevis. (“Nevis” means snow in Spanish because Columbus thought that this small island from a distance, looked like mountains covered by snow. It is said that there is a cloud on top of Nevis 80% of the time.) We also did not want to be in the big crowds and on a specific schedule (the reason we typically do private excursions). So we had made arrangements with Clivin Christmas of Blackfin Charters via email. He had arranged a taxi to pick us up and take us to Cockleshell Beach to meet him on his private boat. We confirm with him the week before via email. We are at the meeting place 10 minutes early and nobody shows up from SeaMoss Taxi (the taxi Clivin arranged for us). Now it is 15 minutes past the meeting time and a lady by the name of Beulah of Welcome Tours St. Kitts and Nevis stop to ask us if we need anything. We told her our story and she was on her phone in a split second trying to call about our ride, but without any luck. She then arranged a taxi ride for us to Cockleshell Beach; we figured we could still meet Clivin and get our boat ride to Nevis with him. Beulah hooked us up with Merlyn, what a fantastic guy!!! He took us to Cockleshell while giving us a quick tour of the island. We arrived at Cockleshell, but alas no Clivin in sight. Okay maybe he is running late. Waited another 15 minutes still no sign of him. Merlyn said he would call him for us, what a guy. He got a hold of him and he said he was fishing. Really??? He said he would have another boat come for us. Instead of dropping us off at the beach to wait on the replacement boat, Merlyn waited with us for about 20 minutes until the boat arrived. We asked if he could pick us up later and we agreed upon a time. So we arrived at Nevis (wasn’t sure it was going to happen for a while) on Oualie (pronounced "oo-a-lee”) Beach. The first thing you see is the Oualie Beach Resort. A small quaint little resort. We found a couple of loungers with a thatch umbrella and set up for the day. I was expecting for someone to come from the resort at any moment to ask for rental money for the loungers and umbrella but no one ever did. Of course the resort bar and restaurant was the only place to get any food or drink without walking a long distance. We had drinks, which were decent and lunch there. I tried Lion fish for the first time, pretty darn good, although it was served cold on a salad. I think it would have been even better grilled and served warm, but I love trying new foods so it’s all good. The beach is about 300 yards long and we saw maybe, 15 people the entire time. It was very relaxing and we had a great time there. So we got on the boat for the return trip, which was tied up at the dock the entire time we were at the Oualie Beach, and what do you know there is our man, Merlyn waiting at the dock at Cockleshell for us. On our way back to the ship we asked Merlyn if we could stop at a place we passed last time we were in St. Kitts, but did not have time to check out. It is called Carambola Beach restaurant. What a beautiful beach and restaurant, we plan on making this our next stop when we come back to St. Kitts.
