Cuban Art Factory is a new-ish project by famous Cuban musician Alfonso. It was the best place to go clubbing for young Cubans. Art, design, theatre, film, music. The cultural spotlight!
Old factory turned into a gallery/cocert hall/cinema/bar/club. Nothing like you saw before on Cuba. Mostly locals and not a lot of tourist. We had a fabulous time there. A great suggestion would be to go a little bit earlier since there's almost always a huge line in front waiting to get in. Entrance fee is 2 cuc's and you recive a piece of paper on which they mark you all the drinks or snacks you had and than you pay at the exit. Cuban and international music. Good movies, great pictures and even better music! Bohemian and trendy.
Can't go wrong visiting FAC: each night has interesting program. Cover charge 50 MN or 2 CUC gives you an opportunity of a concert, theatre, exhibitions or a movie. From endFeb2015 FAC will close earlier - at 2 am
cool new hip place..beautifully decorated with art ..young crowd, dance/bar and theater..within walking distance to 1830 for salsa after..:)
We found the FAC by accident - we stayed in a Casa not far from here and were out walking one night - what a fantastic venue. It's an old peanut oil factory converted into a space for art, music and a bar and we loved it! 2 CUC to enter and so worth it - go if you get the chance and stay at La Casa Amador which is just down the road. Oh, and next door to FAC is an awesome restaurant called El Cocinero - highly recommended!
An art collection and a club with three dance areas. Best club experience in Havana. As with all the night spots, it only really kicks off after midnight.
An amazing venue in a huge art gallery, with live music and numerous bars inside and outside the two-floor converted factory. A totally different night out to any I have experienced before, I could not get over how cool the venue was. A trendy vibe but without being pretentious and the crowd is local. Only 2 CUCS entry! And only a little more for cocktails. You can't go wrong.
Visiting havana for the first time I did not expect to come across this part bar, part gallery, part venue. A friend/local took me here one evening and I was instantly in love with the place - right down my alley. Other reviewers here have noted that they did not expect to find a place like this outside of the "western world" and I concur. A local gem and well worth a visit.
Bohemian, cool, and different! Very trendy now! Busy place mixing locals with tourists. Food, drinks and music all great.
We went to FAC while in Havana and were completely blown away by the creativity of this place. Around every corner was new stimulation for the senses. This is a must visit for locals and visitors. We wish more countries in the region had such vibrant art/entertainment scenes.
If you've been in Cuba for a couple of weeks travelling round tourist facilities, and historical venues, you will love this place! It's a real change from all the traditional culture that you will undoubtedly have been soaking up during the rest of your trip. And for us, it was a very timely reminder that there's more to modern Cuba than Castro, Salsa and rice with peas.On the plus side - it's very like something you might find in the UKOn the minus side - it's very like something you might find in the UK!Part night club, part art gallery, we saw local and international craft products, some fantastic Cuban photography, a rock band, a Tarantino film and some contemporary Cuban dancing all in one evening. The clientèle are mostly cool and well heeled young locals so the people watching is also great. The drinks are fairly priced - although beware that you don't pay for food and drink till you leave, so you could run up more of a bill than you expect. There's only snack food, so if your budget can stand it and you wish to treat yourself to good contemporary food, make a reservation at El Cocineiro next door.
I've been to Fabrica twice in the last year on visits to Havana and plan to be there again in November. Fabrica is not a night club, it's not a theater, it's not an art gallery--it is all of these and more wrapped up in a modern, sexy, almost Berlin-like environment. For those who have spent time walking Old Havana and taking photos of old cars, I suggest dropping by Fabrica to see the gorgeous people--and the people at Fabrica are indeed gorgeous. (see photo for typical Cubans at Fabrica) This is NOT a tourist place--it's for Cubans, but all visitors are warmly invited. The cover is low ($2), the drinks plentiful, the art amazing, and if you are lucky, X Alfonso might be playing. Their weekly agenda (music, fashions shows, art) are posted on their Facebook page.
Quelle belle surprise!
