Went there for a day trip out from Mati. Dahican beach is 20min by habal habal from Mati, and Mati is about 5H by public bus out from davao. It is a long trip but the beach is worth it. Quiet beach with not many tourists/people around. mainly surfers who surf with the Amihan boys. I took a surfing lesson with the Amihan boys (Mark and Vincent as my teachers) for 200P an hour and the waves were pretty good this time of the year (between Jan-Mar). Skimboarding available for 150P an hour. If you are a surfer, you can rent a board with them for 500-700P a day. They are all very nice people. They do rent out tent for 200P per night just for you to camp around their hut. You will have to bring your own food, and they have a makeshift toilet at the back for you to shower. Otherwise, there are about 5-6 resorts ranging from 1,000-2,500P per night for you to choose from. The beach is really quiet and no cafes laying along the way so you can only eat at the resort. Night life is pretty much quiet but the view is amazing.
Amihan sa dahican is actually the nme of a group of young kids who take surfing and skimboarding as a passion. The kids have this shack in one of the best spots of the 7-km stretch of white sand Dahican Beach in Mati City ( 2.5 to 4.0 hours from Davao City). The amihan boys are very friendly. They will teach you to skimboard if you want. Or they will talk to you about the dolphins, whales, and turtles that inhabit the place. The beach is comparable to Boracay in terms of sand quality. As to the waves, it rivals Siargao or Lanuza. As to friendliness of people, it is tops.
