From Festival Mall Filinvest City Alabang, we took a van to the higher land of Tagaytay. It is a cold area similar to Genting Highland in Malaysia and it got theme park too. From the van station, we took a jepney to the Skyranch. The Skyranch was packed with people so we decided to just take a quick look from the outside and moved on to a Krispy Kreme outlet to buy coffee and something to eat.Later we took a jepney back to the earlier station and took a motorcycle with a sidecar to the Taal Volcano Island

I did a day tour to Tagaytay from Manila, the traffic was bad so I spent most of the day in the car... the People's Palace in the sky was of some interest but besides that the edge of the volcanic lake is highly developed. I would recommend investigation going down into the volcano and visiting the island, this takes more time than I had, but promises to be a more "natural" experience.

Golf in Taygaytay (Februay 16-17, 2015). Played Tagaytay Highlands on Monday and Midlands on Tuesday (Midlands is closed on Mondays and Highlands is closed on Tuesdays). In order to play these courses you must be sponsored by a member (have your ducks in line – strict security).Highlands is a very unusual course. Many golfers don’t like it. You must ride carts; caddies cannot drive. After completing the first nine (starts at the highest point of the course and finished at a lower elevation), a cable car (if not too windy) takes you up the course to play the second nine (the 10th Tee is adjacent to the 1st Tee). It is a very narrow course (take more balls than you usual) and you must rely on your caddy. There are many blind shots. Most of the holes are downhill and hitting driver on some of the holes is too much club (you may find yourself Teeing off with a seven iron due to a dog leg). The course is well manicured and offers nice views and cool clean air (unlike the Manila courses); however, it does get warmer as you play holes located at a lower elevation. Caddies are very hospitable and helpful. Lockers are nice and clean. Staff does a good job of cleaning your shoes. Personally, I enjoyed playing at this course but would not want to play every day – the course it too narrow (for me) and too much work to maneuver (would play 2 – 3 times a week at most). Although we were told not to play the Highlands, we were all glad we played it. I suggest, you play it at least once since it is “unique.”Midlands. This course is a “bombers course.” It is fairly “wide open.” Fun course to play, well manicured and easy to walk; it’s design is much more traditional and user friendly (easy to get around and not as many blind shots when compared to the Highlands). Appears the Midlands is more popular than the Highlands. Suggest playing in the mornings since the course is located at a lower elevation and gets hot and humid during the afternoons. Caddies are very hospitable and helpful. Lockers are nice and clean. You could play this course every day and not lose too many balls (my handicap is 10).The Highlands / Midlands is AWEWSOME. It is a self-contained community. It’s a little far from manila (at least a +1.5 hour drive not including traffic) and does not offer much night life. In my opinion, it is more for retirees; however, very nice ambience and definitely worth experiencing. If you have a chance to spend time in the Highlands / Midland (you must be sponsored by a member), I highly recommend taking advantage of the opportunity.

Taal volcanoe is the main attraction with breath taking views from the ridge. a lot of restaurants available and very calm, laid back lifestyle.

A trip to tagaytay city from manila by bus will take around less than 2 hours to get there, a scenery of the city was really nice as the elevation of the city is on the higher sea level, they have a couple of nice resaurants there too.

SN David Apartelle. A simple quiet place located in mahogany ave. Tagaytay. They have family rooms that cost 1500/night max of 6pax and rooms for two. there is a basketball court outside and a few walks from the highway. Very accessible whether going to explore the city or going back to manila. I will surely stay again here everytime when im in tagaytay... :)

Tagaytay City can be really cold + wind chill specially during the months of December to January. It gives the best view of Taal Volcano from the city's many restaurants sitting on the ridge. From the city one can go down to Talisay for an up close visit to Taal lake where the volcano sits. You can also take-off to Nasugbu some 45 minutes away for some beach fun.

Can be very busy to get to from Manila anywhere from 1:30 to 3 hours!Nice city with great views and cooler weather due to height, overlooks Taal volcano this is the smallest active volcano in the world, some very nice hotels and restaurants in the area.We stayed at a place called Bellview in Highlands which is a private club although on a massive scale, this is a 5/5 resort and top notch. This is member only (or know a member), love this place but pricey to stay.

I booked a day tour through the receptionist at my hotel. The hotel doesn't organise so the receptionist did a favour as I was out for the day. Picked up on time by Bernard, apparently via millennium hotel but cannot be sure of that. Bernard said I was booked for the boat trip and horse ride to the volcano. Wonderful I thought and was looking forward to it. At the first toll he asked me to pay. I said no, that should be included, he accepted that and paid. When we got to the lake Bernard sent me into the office to pay for the river and horse. I said I thought that was included. Went into the office and the lady said PHP3000, I objected so she reduced to PHP2500. As a solo female traveller I didn't carry more cash than needed and PHP2500 was all I had. I still believed the whole tour should be included in the price quoted. So we had a big dispute, I was very disappointed and angry and got Bernard to take me home. They did give me a discount as I didn't do the tour of Tagaytay which was apparently ALL I paid for. I felt as though I was being ripped off. If I was going all that way why tell me at the last minute that I had to pay more to go to the volcano. I had requested to go to the volcano and the receptionist asked my budget so naturally I thought all included. All in all very disappointing and left a very bad taste in my mouth! I have booked another tour tomorrow but had to pay for two people. Why do they penalise solo travellers? I am not at all happy with Tours in Manila. The shopping is great though

Tagaytay is so beautiful and there is so much to do! The sight lines are breath taking and the highlight is Taal Volcano! Palace in the sky is a great place to check out, although I wish the government would spend money to maintain it. From Palace in the Sky you can see Tagaytay Highlands where the wealthy live! Sky Ranch is a nice place to check out for families who have small children. I definitely do not recommend it for adults. The last place I checked out there was Picnic Grove which is a great place to walk around. Lots of restaurants and plenty of souvenirs!

We did a day trip with our elderly parents (late 80s and wheelchair bound). Lunch of bulalo and tawilis at "Diners Bulalo" along the ridge. Accessible to old folks and the bulalo was hot and good. The music was eclectic at best and kinda loud though.Visited Tagaytay Highlands - the view was spectacular. The staff at the clubhouse was very attentive and helpful. The oldies even did fishing at their pond - great because it was wheelchair accessible. On our way home we passed by Rowena's for buko pie and other goodies. The trip would not have been complete without a stop at the fruit vendor stalls - the mangoes were great!Suggest to do this day trip on weekdays - the road is a parking lot on weekends I am told. Great day!

I just want to share with you guys that you should be careful in choosing your place when you decided an overnight stay. I am very particular on the sidelines of the tricycle drivers when they will bring you to their target house since they will be getting some of your money by asking it to house owner. The land lady share with us that next time we will just txt them directly and avoid those tricycle drivers so that they can offer us a low price for the rent of the house.

Gasp of Fresh Air after urban living in Manila. Totally refreshing experience. Excellent view at Starbucks. Visit Antonio for a good hearty meal too.
