I love visiting this place as it still has breathtaking views and tranquil settings- verdant hills and fresh air, amidst the chaos of the tourism boom in the area- from Tagaytay and Batangas boundaries. We come here to relax, recharge and enjoy the atmosphere which is sadly getting a bit chaotic. To see this place, we endured several hours of traffic and double the time going back to Laguna. It may also be due to the Christmas season so it is best to visit during off peak season, if there is ever one. People also come for the markets and the local cuisines which is really very Filipino. It is still good to visit this place to remind me there are still great natural attractions that are not too far from Manila. We viewed this through the iconic Tasl Vista Lodge So make sure you have some drinks or snack or meals in their cafe so you don;t get charged 100 pesos just to park in t heir parking and view the attraction.
If you're crossing the lake to the volcano try to wear a quick dry attire from head to tow. Expect to be chilly weather.
though i live near this place i do not have time to see it often. that's why when the first time i experience a taal trekking hike sponsored by our manager, wew! this is amazing, i experience to ride a small boat despite of large waves and ride a small horse going up the crater. And i cannot forget the lady who assisted me on the way there.... despite of her age, she always smile... as if she never get tired of helping us... The place is good yet no structures except for a little nipa but over all the place is amazing, i hope the local government continue to develop the place as it is, i mean don't put structures that eventually will cause pollution in the area.
I was travelling from batangas in the evening, so decided to have a stop off at the volcano on the way from manila. Its potentially a complicated stop off, but the good people of 1775 adriatico suites sorted out an itinerary that saw me getting a bus to tanuan, then a jeepney to talisay where i was picked up.from there its a pleasant boat journey across a lake (until the wind gets up then it gets a bit choppy and wet!). a horse back ride takes you up to the volcano area. the horses are not in the best of condition, but there are a lot of them with guides, so waiting time is limited.the view at the top is most pleasant, worth paying a small fee for the extra walk also.whole trip from talisay takes about 3hours or as long as you would like to stay admiring the view
Visited here en route to Taal volcano. The journey to the island is arguably just as good as the trip up the volcano, especially if you get good weather.
Plus pointsa) Close to Manila 2 hours (if no traffic)b) Beautiful sceneryc) Wonderful boat ride at the lake.d) Cheap and easily approachable through taxi.e) Wonderful view of smokey mountains.Do carry a pair of good shoes in case if like to trek and also a suncream as sun is pretty hot out there.
My two kids and rented a catamaran hobie21 and sailed around most of the day. If you can sail or like sailing I highly recommend visiting the Taal sailing club in talisay as its the best way to soak in the experience of this unique place.
... all try to get your money. A guide is not really needed to reach the top of the volcano, it is just straight away, and only one way, u cannot get lost. Why to shot golf balls into the volcano is still strange for me, not needed, think of the nature.I wanted to get down to the volcano lake, but because of the behavior of the guide I did it not, extra money, call entrance ...
A decent getaway from Manila, takes 1.5 to 2 hours to get there and the views of the lake crater are pretty good from Tagatay town or any of the restaurants lining the lake side. The wind was too high on the day I was there (a typhoon was about to hit the Eastern edge of Phil that day) so there were no boats going out to the island. Went to the nearby Sky Ranch theme park and church / picnic area instead.
a boat trip across the lake to Taal Volcano was good although a little rough because of the breeze the boatman gave us plastic covers to shelter under from the spray
Well, I believe this lake is only for you to cruise or hop from one resort to the others including tall mountain.
This areas is much cooler than metro Manila so it is a nice day trip if you want to cool down and relax.
It does not smell like manila bay, and I think the gov't is doing a bit of good job in maintaining it natural. Fishing farms are limited and are located in design areas, unlike laguna bay which I think is over used. Not confident in swimming there though since its murkey.
- A drive of about 20 minutes downhill from Tagaytay. Worth it & is gateway to the Taal Volcano. This is an active Volcano with smoke at many points on the hill.
