Go here and experience Asian art culture from a different perspective. Lots of nice volunteers work here and the movie nights are always fun and enlightening.

We stumbled on this little gem after a somewhat random ramble through the streets of Chiang Mai with the aim of soaking up some city vibes. It was the perfect find - when we were there they were showcasing a single photo from each exhibition they've run over the last few years, so we had a taster of a huge variety of the work they're inspiring. There was a workshop running on street photography while we were there, and a list of activities such as film nights - it kind of made me want to move to Chiang Mai, just to have the chance to join in! They were gearing up for a festival that would exhibit their members work throughout the city - we so wished we could extend our stay to be able to see more! Although we did manage to get a sneak peek at some of the prints as they were laying them out!

A wonderful and inspiring group of people that set up this initiative. Every time I am there I feel inspired and a little bit more a global citizen. The photo exhibitions, documentaries and other art literally opens my mind and heart. Worth a visit or even better join them as a volunteer!

This gallery, situated in a peaceful soi off Wualai Road just outside the inner city of Chiang Mai, exhibited black-and white photos of a Korean photographer on the Kopino in the Philippines. We learnt a lot.Upstairs they have a library. As a member you can use this library, also borrow DvDs.They have regular film screenings. See on their website.

We fell upon this place because of a film it was showing about Burmese migrants living in Thailand. The venue was very nice, and it allowed us to see and do something we would not ordinarily participate in while traveling. The subject of future events looked interesting as well. It made me wish we would be in Chiang Mai long enough to go back. Very cool place!

On our visit the owners were away and Harry was looking after the gallery/library. It was almost a bohemian experience to browse the documentary photographic commentary on Asia, while Harry toggled on his guitar. It is a small gallery but really worth a visit if you are interest in documentary comment. There are a few good books on photography and it was just a nice quiet visit. A short stroll away is a small bakery with fresh coffee and a variety of baked goods. Ask the friendly people at the gallery for directions.

After a friend who volunteered there invited me to a movie showing, I figured I'd check it out. If you're looking to get connected with the local arts seen, this is the place to go!

I am a film student with a specification in documentary and i found the Documentary center well organized and with an excellent material. I also met many interesting fellow documentarists while spending several days there.

Always a good photo exhibit inside. Lots of books to look over in their library. Often have very good seminars, too! I live in Chiang Mai and enjoy stopping by now and then.

Affordable film showing events are organised every Monday and Thursday evenings plus occasional weekend viewings of quality films you won't see in big mall movie houses. Free popcorn but you pay for drinks. Sometimes the air-conditioned viewing room has mosquitoes so bring insect repellent. A must visit for film buffs.
