access to temple is little difficult. but North Gate is easy to enter.there is special entry for old and handicapped.
Shree Mahalaxmi temple has divine and heavenly atmosphere. Rich in devoted piligrims is a place not to be missed. The darshan can also be taken from a distance known as mukh darshan is amazingly good unlike other temples
Darshan at Mahalakshmi Temple was such a pleasant experience.Temple complex has many other temples within and to have darshan at all these temples was a holy experience. Architecture of temple is very beautiful and it is such a magnificent structure. Ladu prasad served at temple for charge (Rs 5/-) is very tasty.Car Parking was available just near to temple.
Its very popular among Mumbaikars but you really need time to visit it. Not much of parking available there so u need to park either in Heera Panna or elsewhere and take a walk till here. After darshan you can take a bite outside the temple in small lanes. Dosa and Pakoras esp mungories were nice.
The Temple has four entry gates named after the directions (N, E, W and S). The premise is very clean and the flower shops are not pushy. The Main temple itself is huge and besides the main diety i.e. Goddess Mahalakshmi, there are other dieties as well for e.g., Lord Ganesh, Goddess Saraswati, Parwati and Lord Datta. The main diety faces westerly direction and is adorned with very beautiful sarees and jewellery. Once you enter the sanctorum, the divine sight of Maa Mahalashmi takes you in a divine trance. Devotees just don't feel like leaving the darshan and continue to linger around the diety until the attendant and pujaris ask you to move ahead.
One of the best place for visit. The temple is very grand and old with the architecture. Calm and divine....
It is situated near sea shore. . but one can not go to the sea shore rock because the iron grilll has been put for safety reason. everybody get the blessing of this goddess mahalaxmi.
The temple was clean & no Pujaris were after us to do this or that Puja.you can book the Abhishek at the ICICI bank counter. Please avoid Tuesday & Fridays to get a peaceful Darshan
This is one of the most revered temples of south India. The darshan of the Goddess in the sanctum sanctorum is divine. The queues can be long, especially on festive occasions. Finding a parking spot can be a challenge. Located in the heart of older part of Kolhapur city, the place is worth visiting.
Kolhapur is blessed with Mahalaxmi, I have been visiting Mahalaxmi Temple since 30 years, I get peace of mind the moment I enter the temple.Just visit the temple u will get ur own reason to come back
Visiting Mahalaxmi Temple is a pleasure experience. No fear of Pandas at least I have not seen it. You can buy prasad from the annex building. Try to visit early in the morning or early evening. You can watch the Aarti that time.
Mahalaxmi temple is one of the ancient temples with architectural wonders. I have been visiting this temple since my childhood. But due to its popularity, it attracts lot of crowd and you can hardly enjoy the stay inside the temple. The arrogant security guys keep pushing the folks, giving you a very limited view of the goddess Laxmi.
Poor crowd management , badly maintained , dark corridors , senior citizens will find it difficult to manoeuvre . No volunteers to help out.
We were lucky to witness a rare phenomenon which happens for three days, twice in a year.At the sunset you can see the Sunrays falling at the feet of Mahalakshmi idol.It happens on 31st Jan,1 and 2 of Feb Utharayana Punya kal.Such an ingenious architectural feat. This is the bonus for us this year The deity is placed in such a high pedestal that you can see and get the blessings from about 800 mts from the Garbagraha.
It is much more systemic than I had imagined. Be prepared to stand in the line for couple of hours. No cell phones and cameras are allowed to leave those in your room or in the car. The shopping area around the temple is very interesting.
