这个景点还不错,满壮观的,不过我记得看人家前二三年的网志好像是可以下去的。但我们去时,都被围起来了,只能在上面走个一圈,让我有点失望…
Difficult to know how to rate this. It is off the beaten track and the outside is quite unprepossessing. Inside however, is an incredibly engineered 10th Century, 20 metre deep, step well. The symmetry of the zigzagging steps is quite extraordinary, especially when you consider its construction date.Although there are a few information boards, it is probably a good idea to engage a local guide. We arrived mid-Sunday afternoon at the end of February and were virtually the only visitors, so you won't be overwhelmed by hawkers. For anyone with an interest in history or architecture, this is well worth visiting.
It is located in a small vilalge called Abhaneri. Visit it on the way to Delhi or Jaipur since it is 10kms inroad. But I really wanted to visit this place even if its a bit far off the main road since it looked amazing in pictures. And I was not disappointed. The symmetry is amazing, how the masons managed such feats in those olden days is mind boggling. There is an old Devi temple called Hashat Mata temple close by as wellworth visiting but the hawkers selling fares(keychains, chains, necklaces) are really disturbing!
Located in a small nondescript village called Abhaneri in the Dausa district is step well of 9th century. It is not too far fromJaipur and is on the way to Alwar at a distance of 95 km. Chand Baori consists of 3,00 narrow steps that are symmetrical and arranged in 13 stories. It is supposed to be the deepest and largest stepwells in India and extends approximately 100 ft into the ground. It is really big and should be seen for its beauty and symmetrical proportions. There is not much of tourist traffic as many people do not know about it. Going down the well is stopped now because of an accident with an Italian tourist some time back.
We visited this ancient Baori on our way to Bharatpur. This amazing stepwell is so well preserved and shows the exceptional mathematical engineering that was undertaken hundreds of years ago. Well worth visiting if you are travelling to the bird sanctuary.
Must see, step well with good architect and old temple. It was created for water availability but later on royal family made elaborate structure inside for their use to enjoy cool climate inside. its 75 km from jaipur on the agra highway.plan visit to explore Bharatpur with it.
I think that in all of our three week stay in india this is what I will remember the most, it is totally stunning and extraordinary. How this was built over a thousand years ago the mind boggles. One cannot really describe it or even photograph it's true magnificence you just must visit. We stayed the night at the abhaneri tented camp which was charming and confortable. It would also be a good stop off for lunch if you contact them beforehand but we really enjoyed the peace of a night in rural india. They use vegetables from their kitchen garden.
We were taken here by our driver on our Taj & Tiger our of India. It was not part of our itinery but Satish thought that we would like to see it. It is a wonderful hybrid of Temple, Palace & step well. I've never seen anything quite like it & it is well worth a visit!
Chand Baori is beautiful! There isn't tons to see, but it's still worth the stop. The architecture is gorgeous & it's definitely one of a kind. Plan to use the bathroom before or after you go...and forego the porta potties. Also, avoid buying a snack, as they (not uncommonly) charge twice as much for (visable) tourists.
This is a gem of a Baori in the middle of nowhere... not difficult to pack in if you are going to Jaipur or to Agra or to Alwar. One of the best stepwells I have ever seen. The nearby Harshat Mata temple is also fascinating.
When doing the Golden triangle trip, do NOT miss out on one of the least publicized but deepest stepwell in all of Rajasthan. This is the Chand Baori at Abhaneri. As detours go, it is not much of a detour and the town of Dausa is so run down that one does feel an occasional twinge of uneasiness at stopping at this location. But, once there, the only feelings are those of admiration.Chand Baori is not very famous although it appears on some Bollywood movies like Paheli. The stepwell comprises over 2000 steps and is about a 1000 years old. It was first built by King Chanda of the Nikumbha dynasty sometime between 800 to 900AD! There is an old caretaker at the place and for a few rupees, he will willingly play a guide. The stepwell closes at 5PM and so ensure that you are there before the closing time. the architecture is magnificent. The galleries are full of broken pieces of exquisite sculpture that are from the nearby Harshat Mata temple. Both the temple and Baori/well are from the same period. In recent times, a Chinese baby fell down and broke his arm. Since then, the authorities have forbidden access to the bottom. The entire visit will take you 15 to 20 minutes but you will remember it for a lifetime. A must visit place.
This place is relatively unknown. Situated in Duasa district district of Rajasthan, Chand Baori is a not known to many but it does has its visitors from traveler enthusiasts. I went to this place in November from Delhi by bus. To reach this place by bus from Delhi one needs to change the bus at Alwar and from Alwar take a bus to Bandikui. Or By Train there are direct trains for Bandikui from Delhi. From Bandikui railway station I went to Chand Baori by Bike with a local friend. The ride on the way to Abhaneri was amazing. I got to see the country side of Rajasthan on my way there. It was a delight to touch and feel the rural life. It took me 20 mins to reach there. No entry fee. Chand Baori was exquisite and marvelous. But unfortunately I could not go down the stairs as Gates were closed permanently since there had been accident. One should also visit the equally beautiful Harshat Mata Temple adjoining the Boari. Both these place are splendid and located in a quite and underpopulated place which is its charm. Happy Traveling :)
One of the finest step-well I have visited which is almost 1200 years old and not far from there is also a temple in ruins. Around inside the step-well is also an ancient Hindu place of worship....
Heard of this beautiful step well -Chand Baori- at Abhaneri village, about 95 kms from Jaipur. After asking around we managed to reach it and it was really beautiful. A summer palace of sorts for the then kings, the well with the rooms, was built almost a 1000 years ago. It is about 19.5 yards deep and has 2000 steps (the Guide said). The mathematical precision of the structure is awe-inspiring. There were also a lot of stone statues brought from the nearby Harshat Mata temple - which is also worth a visit- and the intricate carvings of Hindu Gods and Godesses was something to behold. Definitely worth a visit.
Recently in Nov 2014 we did the golden triangle via Tempo Traveller. A find on the internet in our planning phase led us to an architectural wonder. This step well had the kids in awww, and the grand parents ( originally from India) pleasantly surprised. There is not much else to do there than to see this engineering wonder with perfect symmetry.Take it all in....
