The walk was supposed to take 4 hours and we wrongly assumed that it will be a “Walk”. We started our walk at around 8.30 the surrounding views made us awestruck. The plain brown farming fields, surrounded by the huge mountains and it was kind off easy walk through those fields.. Suddenly out of no where we entered into the jungle of tall pine trees, having a thin stream of water flowing by our side… We enjoyed every bit of it nature at its best.. As we continued walking we entered the fields of dried plant and as soon as you cross that, there lies the wide and clean Baspa flowing by your side. We took a halt there for few minutes as our guide told that the walk from here is going to be little tough and it was far more tough than we expected for people like me who are non-climbers rather non-walkers ;-).From there onwards it was either steep climb up or steep climb down, through the stone path and river Baspa gazing by the side. The landscape was mesmerizing and drastically changing every 15 mins, but it took a troll out of me. So much so that we at one place we had to take little longer route (going up and then coming down) as the straight route was broken and we decided to take that to save our little energy. The narrow stone path was broken in the middle and the was steep valley on one side of the mountain.. We stuck to the mountain and crossed through that route.. And to add to our accomplishment, our guide told that he has never ever took anybody from this route  After few minutes we came to the point where we had to cross the melting glacier, underneath which a river was flowing, and snow was loose and slippery at places because of the melting snow. We had to cross that one by one so that there not much weight at once on it. I was dead scared at that moment.. But we had no option so started to walk on the glacier and luckily we crossed it quite comfortably. After crossing the glacier we halted in shadow to have our lunch, much needed doze of energy and then resumed our walk. Finally at around 2.00 PM we reached the village where took the walk last evening and it was a sign of relief and accomplishment.

It is the most amazing valley I have ever come across. This was the best time to visit the valley. I could spend only a day in this valley, but it was peaceful and serene. The view was breathtaking. THe sound of water rolling through the stones is unforgettable.

Rakcham is the most attractive and a sure shot winner of all valleys. The quaint wooden houses made the gorge appear just breathtaking. Turn to whatever side you can and you would see mountains roofed with snow and tranquility to add as sheer delight. With the sound of water gushing slowly too apt for a perfect meditation session I can clearly say the place was celestial.

On my way to Spiti through Shimla and Kinnaur, I visited Rakcham. Al though I could only spend few hours embracing the natural beauty, but trust me it was beyond words. Rakcham was like a prologue to the mesmerizing and breath taking natural splendor which was coming on my way. If there is something called divine beauty, it was Rackcham. There are few hotels, and you can easily stay here, I couldnt stay there because i had to rush for my way to Spiti. Given a chance, I will for sure visit this place again and this time will stay for may be two or three days.

When in Sangla valley, you must visit this little village 10 km from Sangla. Walk in fields of buckwheat, take a walk by the stream or just sit back and soak in the view

We visited in march which is the end of winter. We stayed for 2 nights. There are not much activities to do but you can relax and visit the Rackham village and the nearby Rogi village. There was snow all around. It is very beautiful. You can also visit Chitkul village which is on the indo-china border. I would want to visit this place in summer.

Sangla Valley is located at Rakcham (not at Sangla Village) with very beautiful view and picturesque location. It is just like any other valley in Kashmir and good camping sites also.

Priyanka_Voyager

It is a beautiful village..the way to rakcham from sangla is thrilling as well as picturesque. You wont want to blink. We visited this place in June when it was hot. I think the experience could have been better in winters. One advice : Take food with you as after leaving sangla, you wont find any place to eat till Chitkul
