维查雅瓦达古迹

去亨比之前我们就曾经听说过这个地方,在成龙和莫莉卡主演的好莱坞电影《神话》看到过这个地方。当我们真的亲眼看到当地的那些古建筑的时候,我们真的被惊呆了,那些建筑漂亮得超过我们的想象,我们可以从那些遗址中感受到当初的恢弘气势,莲花殿和象冢是绝对不能错过的景点,王后浴室可以把你带回以前的时光,一定要去参观一下。

我们是08年12月份跟着一位历史教授来的这里,他是我们的老大哥当然很有优惠咯。整个景点有很多值得参观,一些项目还是免费的,一些其它收费项目也很低廉只是门票而已。尽管古迹是正在发掘中,但依旧有很多可看的。皇后的浴室是个大大的泳池,我们很有趣的了解到周围的护城河只是为了保持她的庄严。古迹的其它部分有一些宏伟的建筑还有精致的雕刻艺术品。例如你可以清晰地看到印度妇女衣服上的褶皱以及她们耳环上的花纹。如果你游览过了寺院和古迹之后口渴难耐,那就喝杯新鲜的椰汁驱走热浪。

Hampi was the erstwhile capital of the Vijaynagara kingdom. It was the most prosperous and powerful kingdom of South India for close to two centuries. At its zenith the kingdom spread from Orissa to Sri Lanka and from the Bay of Bengal to the Arabian Sea.Even at its ruined state, Hampi bears testimony to the kingdom's grandeur. Glorious temples richly decorated with amazing sculptures still stand today. The Vittala temple with its musical pillars is a wonder of the world. The Hampi village lies about 14-15 kms away from the nearest city - Hospet.

I almost had tears in my eyes when i saw the ruins of Hampi, once the richest kingdom, ruled by the great king Krishnadevaraya of Vijayanagar. The sculptures are huge, marvelous and magnificent, and these are lesser words to describe the work of the artists, who used their skill to sculpt the Idols and monuments which stand still withstanding the insult by invaders and natures fury for centuries.its a must visit place in Karnataka, best time to visit is from October to February.situated on the banks of Thungabhadra river, a great reservoir, TB dam, is built across the river has very good garden and a beautiful view from the guest house on hill top.weather ins relatively hot, well connectied by road and Rail.

One comes to Hampi only to see the ruins of one of the greatest empires in the history of India, as also of the world. The lore goes far back into mythical times and the site is intricately woven with the story of the great epic Ramayana. Known as Kishkinda, the monkey kingdom where Hanuman is born, there are many places associated with events that took place during Rama's search for Sita. However, for those who want to be grounded in history, the story of the Vijayanagar empire and the creative burst of its rulers will leave one breathless. The magnificence of the temples, the images, the palaces, and the other edifices is beyond verbal description. Even if you spend months in Hampi you will not be able to see all the sights. The great Krishnadevaraya took the empire to its pinnacle, making it the cynosure of the world. Its riches were beyond anyone's imagination, and that perhaps brought about its downfall. Greedy predators couldn't resist invading and looting the kingdom. What we are left with now are ruins, but what ruins? Once in a lifetime come and see Hampi. That's all I can say.

This place is huge, so much to see, it is very popular so it can get crowded. This is not just historically interesting, it is used by the locals as pilgrimage. A wonderful experience

This very beautiful temple in Hampi even has an elephant who is taken for a bath in the river every morning. Monkeys sit on the outer walls. A wonderful colorful interesting experience that no visitor to Hampi should miss.

After attempting to visit the majestic city for last 15 years, finally managed to venture through in a road trip from Hyderabad to Hampi. And absolutely found it the way I had imagined. It was a capital city built at gigantic scale and proportions. It never stops awe and mesmerize you. It was mega Metropolis and during its golden period - it attracted everyone; invaders, merchants, traders, local populations, musicians, sculptors, travellers, religious teachers. Writers have left accounts which mention that it was the largest and among the most magnificent city. Traders used to sell diamonds and gold on the streets!! As you will walk and mingle, you will come across a maze of historicity and religiosity together. The city is supposed to be built where the Treta Yuga Kiskindha, the capital city of Bali and Sugriv was. This place is also the Birthplace of Lord Hanuman. If you mingle with the 'other' traveling population (not so intellectuals ones, not backpackers, not even middle class visitors) you will meet with people who visit this place in search of places like Sugriv's Cave, Anjani hill, the cave where Bali has kept Ravaan and many other such places related with the famous Ramayana period. As the Tunghbadra rivers meanders through the rocky boulders nestled in the midst of hilly mountains with a plethora of banana and paddy plantation, you watch and hear different species of birds and monkeys who have made this place truly a lively one. Though it leads to wonder that why the sultanate invaders completely destroyed this great city decimating it to pieces as if the attempt was to completely wipe it out of the face of history. However this city of Vijayanagara rulers continue to attract and awe its visitors - the very purpose for which it was built!!

It's one of the UNESCO protected sites in India.What fascinated me about Vijayanagar is it's architectures, stone carving, magnificient Indo-Islamicstructures. Though I am not a kind of person very interested in history, this place did impressed me in some way.We were able to cover Achyutaraya Temple, Vitthala Temple complex and Hanuman Temple on day 1 and, on day 2 we visited Queen's Bath, Stepped Tank, Hazara Rama Temple, Zanana Enclosure, Statue of Ugra Narsimha, Shivlinga.Experience of crossing lake by a Coracle was thrilling.Also, Hampi is one of the places where you can do sightseeing by bicycle, rented bikesincluding TVS Luna. Vijayanagar sightseeing can even be covered by traveling in rickshaw too, but they are .quite pricy. Some of the sites can be covered by foot or there are battery operated cars within the sites. Make sure you wear comfortable shoes and carry bottle of water with you. On the other side of the Lake, it has many picturesque places and serene locality.However, what will tax you physically and mentally is swarms of people, nasty rickshaw drivers, humid climate and what disappointed me is littering; even found goats grazing inside Vijayanagar sites.Most of the sites are closed by 6.00/7.00 PM in the evening.

We visited Hampi in Dec 2014 as part of our 5 day road trip. We are not very much into historical places but had heard a lot about hampi and had to do it once. And It was such a good experience that now we want to go again :). It is a beautiful place that takes you back to the old times and makes you wonder about how serene and beautiful it must have been when it was inhabited. You look at the structures and ruins and get amazed on what kind of skills and hard work must have gone into making them. There is a river flowing through hampi which separates it into two and you have to take a boat to get to other side or drive for around 40 kms. We took the boat and found that there is an altogether different kind of hampi on the other side. It had lovely cafes and shacks, some of them were facing the river (Laughing Buddha is a good ones where we went). It gets more charming as the evening progresses. We were there on Christmas and saw a group of people singing carols on the streets. The whole atmosphere was quite peppy. We wanted to stay there for the night but had to come back as we had already taken a hotel in hospet which is around 10 kms from hampi. There might not be many good hotels in hampi but there are small guesthouses which are in the middle of hampi market on this side and also on our more favorite side (the other side of river) of Hampi. The next time we go, we will definitely stay in one of those. We spent just one day in hampi but you can enjoy it for 2-3 days, get intrigued while roaming around during the day and just relax in the evenings by the riverside. Some pointers:- Be prepared to walk a lot. And try to keep water and some eatables with you when you go out visiting ruins. - December is a good time to visit as it is not very hot.- 'Laughing Buddha' is a good restaurant to spend evenings. It is along side the other side of river.- 'Mango Tree' is an overrated restaurant. We went for lunch there. It was very crowded and food was just ok. - 'Chill out' cafe is a good restaurant on this side (the hospet side) of the river. There are many such places on the other side, but very few on this side.- The prices for boat to cross river increase after 5:30 PM. Our complete road trip was: Bangalore - Hampi - Dandeli - Karwar - Goa - Karwar - Gokarna - Chikamaglur - Bangalore. It was an amazing trip, the roads were good throughout. We covered the hills, beaches, ruins, forests, rivers, waterfall in just one trip. What more could we ask for :)

Hampi in a great place for every one who is keen and proud to partake in artistic and cultural treasures left behind by our ancesstors. Do visit the place as you will visit a place of worship or deep devotion so that it retains its proud heritage. you will love the experience.

Walk, ride cycle / bike, sit tight in your car with AC on.. But.. Get out to each site and experience the story unfold.. From erstwhile rulers of Vijayanagara...They have done miracles with rocks and little hand tools...Unique architecture with blend of hindu-muslim-jain cultures.. Experience temples.. Monolithic statues.. Large.. Literally extreme big Single rocks.. Towers of all kinds.. Beautiful sculptures with unique cuts and shapes.. Plan to spend 2 or 3 days for sure.. Save lot of energy for the visit..Enjoy food from local joints.. Largely vegetarian.. Reach through Hospet or Bellary.. Visit Tungabadra reservoir.. Chitradurga fort (another half day, more on that later).Access roads are decent.. Highway till Chitradurga.. And local roads till Vijayanagara.. I loved the 18 feet Ganesha.. And the palace and the Virupaksha temple and the musical pillars and stone radha.. :)Look for appropriate weather and stay..Must visit..

This is situated about 320 km from Bangalore, capital of Karnataka state. This was once the capital of almost entire south india. This was a very proserperous kingdom - said to be a golden era in Indian History. The ruins can be seen by walk at best. VIsit during Oct - Feb.

Hampi steals your heart at the first chance you give to it. The sight is covered with endless rocks, hills and coracles on the Tungabhadra. It’s an easy ride from Hospet, 13 kms.Tips: Take time with you! Although it is difficult to invest time at one place and a rare trend in India, Hampi is totally worth it. One can also volunteer at Hampi Children’s Trust and stay with them devoting morning hours teaching the kids and the rest of the day to consume the essence of the lost Vijayanagara Empire imagining the grandeur of what existed once from the leftover ruins.

So many people recommended the ruins at Hampi that I was really excited about going here. Although many of them are very impressive, I was disappointed at what an assembly line it felt like. The extremely aggressive Rickshaw driver a and traders (even by Indian standards) made the experience less enjoyable as did the swarms of people. The setting is beautiful and perhaps worth the visit more than the ruins, but if I had my time again, I probably wouldn't bother
