snorkelling and 400 rupees extra for glass bottom boat is totally worth it......!!!!!!!It was the best beach in my whole holiday in andaman

Morning 0730 we left room for Jolly bouy by car.First We had to go to Wandoor which is appx 40km away for Port Blair.Car charge Rs 1200. Mr Raju the tour operator already taken permit to Jolly bouy for Rs 50 p/p , ferry ticket Rs 750 p/p and commission Rs100 p/p. From wandoor the ferry took appx 45 min to reach Jolly Bouy. Original Id proof required to be carried. 45 min boat journey is also wonderful. From jollybouy snokerling/ glass bottom boat ride being carried out to facilitate the coral/ colour full sea fish view. Through the glass at the bottom of boat it looks like a natural aquarium. For these activities they charge extra money. Otherwise you can have sea bath. The water there is amazingly crystal clear over the white sand. No polybag/ plastic bottles are allowed. One can take water bottle for RS 5 on rent and Rs 200 security deposit. Changing room facility is there.

The journey to this island and the island in itself is nature at its best. The marine life around this island is fabulous and the water is clear. This is the place to do snorkeling but do carry an action camera. The glass boat ride is a gamble as it depends on the condition of glass on the boat. Better to spend more time in snorkeling and take a walk away from the crowd, take a dip n njoi.This island is closed for public in the monsoon months.

Words can't do justice to the beauty of this place. Its great for swimming, very clean and developed island. It has great sea-life around and great for snorkeling.It is a must visit place of Andamans, only then a person can understand the meaning of its true beauty.

The beach itself is nice - has a combination of activity and leisure options. However, there are too many restrictions. You need to hire water bottles (at a nominal fees) so that you don't carry plastic bottles on to the beach - but when you get to the beach, you realize that people easily flout those norms. There should be another way to ensure that people do not litter the beach. Also, there a queue for the boats and there are limited number of boats going each morning. You will have to fill up the form and then wait in the queue to board the boat. The marine museum is interesting, so you may want to visit it while waiting for your boat. The water is crystal clear and you can enjoy your time at leisure on the beach. There are standard water activities here - and you can enjoy them a little better as the beach is bigger than Elephant Beach at Havelock - giving you more area to enjoy the activities. The beach is not very commercial - and has very limited amenities.

yes this place is as good as radhanagar beach of havelock.here water has really beautiful marine life and it can be witnessed in a comfortable glass-bottom boat.If you like snorkeling, then don't miss this place.Plastic bottles not allowed. Govt. rent bottles for 10rs.water is clear blue and shallow enough to enjoy snorkeling. It is indeed one of the best place to experience the lovely corals and marine life of Andaman.Jolly Buoy is one of the must visit place in port Blair.i strongly recommend this place.MUST VISIT PLACE IN PORT BLAIR.

This place is famous for water sports , I suggest don't take glass boat ride you will not able to enjoy corals,instead go for scuba or snorkeling.As far as price is concern you have to negotiate for better deal because Scuba rate 1200 per person to 4500 per person. Corals are beautiful and scuba experience is once in a life time.

Jolly Buoy Island is one of the best islands in Port Blair. Out of the 15 islands in Wandoor village 2 are operational for tourists Red Skin & Jolly Buoy. Water is crystal clear.It is recommended to do snorkeling & Glass boat ride here rather than Elephant beach which has become commercial.

It has the best corals reefs and more sea lives compared to other places in Andaman. This best place for Glass bottom boat ride and Snorkeling. Unfortunately there are no scuba diving and sea walk activities present at my time of visit.Tips to fellow travelers:All passenger boats departs to Jolly Buoy Island by 9:00AM,10:00AM and 11:00AM which I think is the last boat. I would suggest to get tickets before hand as only 25 person can board the boat at a time.Cost- 800rs for boat ride to jolly buoy.Glass Bottom ride- 500rs per person They will show you 3 different reefs which are nearby.Rent a Milton bottle--200rs refundable Note- Please carry valid ID proof , Pack the food before as you won't can any food on the island.

The trip to Jolly Boys (now distorted to Jolly Buoy) Islands is a 45-min boat trip from Wandoor. The boat-trip, through the narrow straights between islands in the Mahatma Gandhi Marine National Park (past Alexandra, Holiday and Rutland) is breathtaking in itself.The last-bit after the larger boat can go no more is done in small motor-boats, upto 8 passengers at a time. These conveniently have glass-bottoms, so one has a clear view (sun-rays permitting) of coral below the water-surface.The beach at Jolly Boys is coarse coral-dust (it hurts). The water is pristine, from emerald to turquoise as it deepens. The sea is not reliable. Being placed towards the open sea on the west-end of the archipelago, only the inner portions of the sea are swimmable. On the outer side, the currents can be dangerous.One can stay behind for a second boat to pick you up, but is not advisable - the boat may be cancelled for want of passengers.There is no organised retail - carry your own water and food.Do be gracious enough not to litter - there are no janitors to clean up after you.Trips to this group is alternated with the visit to Red-Skin island on different dates. You cant always expect to visit Jolly Boys - that day might be the RedSkin ferry! Check before you leave for Wandoor.

This is a must visit place for anyone travelling to andamans and the best beach for coral viewing and snorkeling .Jolly buoy can be reached from the wandoor jetty, which is approximately 25 kms from Port blair. You can rent a two wheeler which is an economical mode of travelling and the road is very uncomplicated alternatively you can hire a taxi. There are 2 ferries which go to jolly buoy every day and you need a forest permit worth 50/- and tickets which cost you 750/- per person , the forest permit can be obtained in advance or you can also get it from the jetty itself though it is a little dicey.This is a highly preserved area by the forest dept and the coral views are just mesmerising-the snorkeling experience there will leave you speechless. You will get to witness various kinds of beautiful coloured fish-tiger fish, nemo fish, butterfly fish, starfish, you get to touch and feel pretty corals, and various other marine fauna and flora like the sea cucumber the star ball etc and all in under Rs. 500/- This is something that no one should miss.We tried snorkeling at elephant beach in havelock as well at a similar price and the experience there was no where compared to jolly buoy. In fact even the under sea walk which costed us a bomb wasnt comparable.Jolly buoy undoubtedly was the highlight of our trip to Andamans!!Tips for fellow travelers1) carry your own food since there is no food available there2) Plastic bottles are not allowed, you can get milton water bottles by paying a deposit3) Try to arrange for a forest invite in advance4) Carry an under water camera if you have one-it is completely worth it!!

what a lovely place. please don't carry plastics as they have to be discarded before one steps on the transfer boat to go to the island. As we were also confused about what is allowed and had our child with us, let me elaborate, packs of chips, biscuits etc are ok. u r supposed to eat and discard the plastic wrappers in dustbins on the jolly buoy island. plastic water bottles and polythene bags are not allowed. so before you board the ferry, u can give a deposit of 200/- and are given Milton bottles, which can be filled with bisleri water by you and these Milton bottles can be carries across and given back on return. ur deposit will be refunded and only 5/- charged per bottle to you. Jolly buoy is beautiful, clean and worth the visit

This place is heaven for Glass bottom boat ride and under water activities like Snorkeling, Sea Walking. I would recommend this place over Neil and other islands in Andaman for under water corals and marine life.All passenger boats departs to Jolly Buoy Island between 9.00am to 9.30am and the same boat returns between 1.00pm to 1.30 pm. 750/- per person charged which includes passenger boat trip from Wandoor to Jolly Buoy Island (approx 30 minutes ride) and 10 minutes complimentary glass bottom boat ride. Additional 30 minutes of glass bottom boat ride charged 400/- per person. Its worth to take additional ride , you will see many species of fishes in the water like Blue Starfish, Sea honeymoon, Sea cucumber etc. & scenic under water corals during this glass bottom boat journey.Thousands of blue fishes on the surface of sea creates a lovely view. Snorkeling trip would be charged extra between 300-500. You can skip snorkeling if you are going for additional glass bottom boat ride.Since this place is no plastic zone you can't carry plastic items except packed food,Chips, Cold drinks. Solid plastic water bottles are available on rent of 5/- each bottle.A refundable security amount 100/- deposited for each water bottle. It is recommended to get your food packed from Port Blair only.Cons.You need a forest permit handy in advance to visit Jolly Buoy Island. Limited number of forest permits are issued everyday (~250 every day).

Don't miss this Place.I feel this is the best place in Andaman, as good as Radhanagar beach.It has the best corals. Glass bottom ride and snorkeling was just out of the world. We did Scuba diving in Havelock, but they were not as good as Jolly Buoy. I wish I could just stay there for a few days :)Tips to fellow travelers:1) During peak season get the ticket and permit in advance. We paid an agent to get it for us.2) Carry food and water as there is nothing available on the island. Take food in some container or paper, as plastic is not allowed. Also, rent a milton bottle and carry lots of water.3) Take snorkeling gear or Swimming Goggles along. Its beautiful down there.4) Reach Wandoor beach a bit early and don't miss the museum. You get to know the name of many of the corals and then see them live at Jolly Buoy.
