My wife booked this and it was a great time! We took a boat out about 15-20 minutes to a large sand bar in the ocean, then another 10 minutes to a huge coral reef. Lots of species to look at. Even boated by the island where they shot survivor. Guide brought water and talked lots about the area.
We booked a snorkelling trip with Coral Dream to visit 2 islands and a snorkelling stop. All staff were super friendly and helpful. There was no-one else originally signed up for the trip we wanted to do, but as promised they emailed us to confirm others had signed up and the trip would take place. Due to weather conditions our boat driver reversed the order of our trip to ensure we had the best conditions for snorkelling which was great. The trip itself was a tad on the expensive side but was worth it. I am only rating them 4 out of 5 as I felt they should make the tour slightly longer to allow a decent stop at the Survivor Island beach as we ended up with just around 20 minutes there.
Well organised and friendly a really relaxing 2 tank dive although currents can be quite strong. Captain and dive team know their stuff. An enjoyable way to spend a morning on isla contadora before hitting the beach then the bar for a sundowner such a hard life ha!
Efficient, organized & knew his craft- Guillermo was a very good tour operator. He was responsive to our last minute email request for a snorkeling trip for our family of 5 and we trusted his expertise. He gave us services as promised- didn't feel rushed at all. We arrived from Panama City via the 7:00 am ferry into C' Dora around 8:50/9:00 am.Walked two minutes up to Coral Dreams (directly across from the "airstrip") but the shop was closed. It was so hot, we decided to head to a beach and wait out our 10:30 sail-time in a cooler environment and more importantly, the island is GORGEOUS- and we couldn't wait to swim in the blue, blue, green waters . We followed the golf-cart road to a beach " beach Larga"- awesome. We were sorry to leave such perfection but knew more awaited w the tour. We walked back up the road (HILL)-Guillermo arrived on time, handed us fins, masks,&flippers. We debated whether to bring towels- no real instructions (bring in plastic bag but we didn't find we even needed)- we debated whether to bring hat-sunscreen -no real instructions (DEF bring) & same w cameras (left fancy locked w Guillermo's wife but took cellphone in a Zip-lock bag I brought w me b/c I didn't have waterproof case, which would have been better).BRING snacks- BRING camera b/c memories are so beyond incredible- bring a towel to sit on if you are sensitive- Guillermo has big bottle of water but if you want anything else, I am sure he will put in his cooler to keep on ice for you. There was some accident to the boat's ladder prior to our arrival so there were moments we needed to "haul" up... creating funny moments but I would have preferred steps at age 46. Irrespective of this inconvenience- we will remember this excursion our entire lives.Warm thanks, Guillermo- for incredible memories and lovely excursion.
We just spent our Christmas Eve on a fabulous 3 hour snorkeling excursion with Coral Dreams on Contadora Island. The trip was easy to arrange and reasonably priced & Captain Guillermo could not have been friendlier and more knowledgeable. Before the snorkeling began, we stopped first on a pristine massive sandbar-island to collect seashells, climb on lava rocks and take photos. After about 20 minutes, we got back on board to head to Mogo Mogo and Chapera Islands (sites of multiple seasons of Survivor) for some fantastic snorkeling. The water was very clear and the quantity of marine life was amazing! We swam amongst thousands of different color fish & eels and encountered a few different types of coral. It really was a fun adventure for the whole family and I'd highly recommend any Contadora beachcombers to check it out!
Guillermo is a very kind and professional bi-lingual guide, the tour to Mogo-mogo and Chapera islands and the Bayonera sandbank were a lot of fun for my mother (who doesn't snorkel) and for me (beginner snorkeler). It is reasonably priced at 50$ pp. I would recommend it especially if you are staying for several days in Contadora and would like to know other beautiful beaches and coral reefs. The sea wasn't as crystal clear today because of the draft but if you're lucky you will get to see the sealife in all its splendor. Cool runnings Coral Dreams!
Same day emailed back and got on the 10am tour. Nice extended time in the water as opposed to some companies who get you in and out we had plenty of time to explore each area.
We tried booking the snorkeling in advance. We passed their office a couple of times when it was closed. We ended up emailing them and with somewhat of a confirmation we just showed up. We had to wait a bit, then everyone paid and we picked up our gear. Very relaxed, it's an island after all. It was a friendly group and we had a great time exploring the different snorkeling spots. There was some small bit with some current, but you can stay around the boat, there is enough to see. One of the highlights for us was the Survivor show island!
We rented our snorkel gear for 2 days. They were very accommodating and prices were average - pretty much what we would expect to pay.
If you come in Panama to see whales - and if it is the good season - go to Contadora and meet Guillermo at Coral Dreams. We made two boat trips whit him, and we were not disappointed : the first trip (afternoon) was more than interresting, with several humpback whales (Megaptera novaeangliae) and - pretty rare - a group of about 12 pilot whales (Globicephalas melas) as close as 2 meters from the boat. The second trip (also afternoon), was simply crazy : 15 to 20 whales, from calf to huge mother, swimming and breaching. Two hours of pure happyness !
Loved the snorkel/whale watching tour with Coral Dreams and Guillermo. He and his wife were excellent tour guides. We saw hundreds of fish on 2 snorkel stops and even came close to a spotted leopard ray! We were also lucky enough to wade with a "school" of lemon sharks. So neat! After much patience we also spotted 2 humpback whales out in the ocean. Wonderful experience!
I've booked a snorkeling trip with Guillermo every year for the past five years. Never have I been disappointed, but this last trip was by far the best ever. Guillermo took our group of four (plus one additional guest) to some familiar spots but this time he also also took us to an island to see the blue-footed booby birds. Love those blue feet! Guillermo then took us to a snorkeling spot I've never been before and wow! what a nice variety of fish. We swam with several good size schools of different species. This is also whale watching season in the Pearl Islands, so Guillermo finished our adventure with a bit of whale watching. On the way we encountered several dolphins. It took just a little while, but Guillermo found a mother and calf in one of the straights. They surfaced not 15 feet from our boat. A great ending to a great adventure.
Our family of five had a great snorkeling trip with Guillermo. He was on time, well-prepared and gave us a very nice snorkeling tour of 3 islands and a fun little excursion to a sand bar. Guillermo is well-qualified, knows the area extremely well and quite simply, a pleasure to be around. Also, he and his wife were very accommodating and stored our bags for a bit while we had lunch before we caught the return ferry.
We had 3h of excursion and we love it!I would highly recommend Coral Dreams to everyone who need an well organized, clean, safety and fun trip. It was fantastic ! The team was soo nice and friendly . Thank you a lot Guillermo for wonderful adventure trip
My husband and I had 2 great adventures with Coral Dreams. The first was an ialand/snorkel tour. The boat captain took us on a slow tour around Contadora Island then out to Chapera & Mogo Mogo islands. We snorkeled near Chapera and went to walk the beach on Mogo Mogo where Survivor was filmed. On the way back around Contadora we stopped at another snorkeling spot. We got to see lots of fish and the walk on Mogo Mogo was fun for us Survivor fans. The cost was $50 per person including equipment. The second adventure (2-tank dive $100) was diving... and was it ever an adventure! Because it was low season, I guess, my husband was the only diver (among four other snorkelers) that day and got a personal tour of two excellent dive sites from Guillermo, the owner. My husband returned from the trip and said that Coral Dreams saved his Contadora holiday. That's how great a time he had diving on a holiday that otherwise fell below his expectations. He saw lobsters, eels, rays, white-tip reef sharks, and the elusive octopus! Guillermo is a great guy, very funny, and his captain is also a really great guy.
